Dorothy Sapp

MOULTON -- Funeral for Dorothy Sapp, 62, of Decatur will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. George Sparks officiating.

Burial will be in Old Beulah Cemetery in Danville. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sapp died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Sept. 21, 1939, in Lawrence County, to Jim Matt Naylor and Lula Brooks Naylor. She was a homemaker and was assistant pastor at Sacred Heart Full Gospel Church.

Survivors include her husband, Price L. Sapp; four sons, Hoyt Ray Smith and Michael Anthony Smith, both of Moulton, and Tony Allen Sapp and Mark Lamon Sapp, both of Hartselle; one daughter, Lisa Briscoe of Hartselle; three brothers, Jimmy Naylor, Thomas Ray Naylor and Odis Naylor, all of Moulton; one sister, Mavis Hood of Moulton; and 11 grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Laurence Butler Campbell Sr.

ATHENS -- Funeral for Laurence Butler Campbell Sr., 90, of Athens will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Gooch officiating.

A Masonic service will be at Roselawn Cem- etery with the Rev. Brady McCollouch officiating. The fam- ily will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Campbell died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at his home. He was born Sept. 11, 1911, in Pulaski, Tenn., to Walter Neal Campbell and Ida Belle Hannah Campbell. He was the widower of Imogene Moyers Campbell. He retired from NASA and was a United States Army World War II veteran, having fought in the European Theater as a member of the First Army Division.

He was a member of Tanner United Methodist Church, a member of Whiteshrine Cahaba Temple in Huntsville, a 33rd-Degree Mason and a member of the Athens Masonic Lodge No. 16 and Eastern Star.

Survivors include one son, Laurence Butler Campbell Jr. of Athens; one daughter, Barbara Yost of Huntsville; one brother, Giles Eugene Campbell of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Keith Campbell, Zachary Houston, Brett Houston, Billy Wayne Moyers, O.C. Hill and Kelly Brown.

Lowell D. 'L.D.' Ellison Jr.

Funeral for Lowell D. "L.D." Ellison Jr., 65, of Decatur will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Boyles and Danny Harbin officiating.

Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Ellison died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at his home. He was born Dec. 21, 1936, in Lamar County, Miss., to Lowell D. Ellison and Lorene Sterling Ellison. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and retired from International Paper.

Survivors include his wife, Sadie Ellison; two daughters, Linda Dutton and Brenda Owens, both of Decatur; two stepsons, Stephen Beddingfield of Knoxville and Terry Beddingfield of Priceville; one stepdaughter, Michelle Drinkard of Falkville; his mother of Decatur; one sister, Elizabeth Payne of Barryton, Mich.; and 11 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Alton "Frog" Hood, Farrel Lamon, Jonathan Biffle, Billy Chancellor, Danny Harbin, David Woodall, Jadie Terry and Tom Mauter.

Employees of International Paper will be honorary pallbearers.

Oralee 'Aunt Sis' Foster

Funeral for Oralee "Aunt Sis" Foster , 98, of Hillsboro will be Saturday at noon at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. John Gladney officiating.

Burial will be in Foster -Davis Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the church one hour before the service. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Foster died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Oct. 21, 1903, in Lawrence County, to Horace Watkins and Eliza Morris Watkins. She was a member of Mallard Creek Primitive Baptist Church and served as president of its Missionary Aid Society for 60 years.

Survivors include one daughter, Ezella Spears of Hillsboro; and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be William Torain, Jessie Byrd, Samuel Jones, Carl Campbell, Glenn Davis and Labron Davis.

Homer Earl Glenn

Funeral for Homer Earl Glenn, 70, of Decatur will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Raymond Fike officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Glenn died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born April 11, 1931, in Morgan County to Ruby Earl Glenn and Avery Letha Daniel Glenn. The widower of Dessie Mildred Glenn, he was a member of Unity Baptist Church and was self-employed in the trucking business.

Survivors include one son, Rex Glenn of Neel; four daughters, Becky Williams, Ruth Dunn and Katharine Moreau, all of Decatur, and Teresa Stokes of Birmingham; one brother, Frankie Glenn of Melbourne, Fla.; and two sisters, Marine Downey of Moulton and Josephine Furstinfidl of Huntsville, Ark.

Pallbearers will be Len Cox, Jeffrey Williams, Carlton McMasters, Ronald Stokes, Scott Williams and Roy Downey.

John Oba McGhee

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for John Oba McGhee, 74, of Hartselle will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. David Weaver officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. McGhee died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Oct. 11, 1927, in Morgan County to Hubert Hendrix McGhee and Pearlie Ann Speakman McGhee. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post No. 4190 and American Legion Post No. 52. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of the Hartselle Jaycees. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. He was the brother of the late Richard McGhee.

Survivors include his wife, Betty McGhee; one son, Larry McGhee of Hartselle; one daughter, Gayle Millsap of Hartselle; one brother, William H. McGhee of Hartselle; one sister, Margaret Driver of Decatur; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Scott Boyer, Josh Messervy; Bobby Lipsey, Alan Wiley, Mike Messervy and Danny Gilbert.

Mark Gabriel Wear McLain

ATHENS -- Funeral for Mark Gabriel Wear McLain, seven weeks, of Huntsville will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Stevens officiating.

Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mark died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Dec. 10, 2001, in Huntsville, to John McLain and Lara McLain.

Survivors include his parents, of Huntsville; one brother, Nathan Wayne Davis of Huntsville; one sister, Adia Larah Davis of Huntsville; his grandparents, Shirley Ann McLain of Athens and Mark Joseph Steinbuchel and Carla Faye Steinbuchel of Huntsville; and his great-grandparents, Conrad and Dolores Jansson of Wichita, Kansas.

Carolyn Ann McReath

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Carolyn Ann McReath, 52, of Falkville was to be today at 3 p.m. at Miracle Church of Jesus Christ with the Rev. James Watts officiating.

Burial was to be in Bell Springs Cemetery with Williams-McCracken Funeral Home directing. The body was to be in the church until the time of the service.

Mrs. McReath died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at her home. She was born April 21, 1949, in Morgan County, to James Stanley and Donna Russell Stanley. She was a homemaker and attended Miracle Church of Jesus Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry McReath; one son, Allen McReath of Cullman; two daughters, Angie Marlow of Vinemont and Pam Terry of Falkville; her mother of Falkville; one brother, Lavon Looney of Falkville; one sister, Wilma Watts of Falkville; and seven grandchildren.

Hazel Ella Moore

ATHENS -- Funeral for Hazel Ella Moore, 38, of Athens will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Brighthope Cumberland Presbyterian Church of America, with the Rev. Catherine Baker officiating.

Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Peoples Funeral Home directing.

Miss Moore died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at her home. She was born Dec. 16, 1963, in Limestone County, to Willie Moore Sr. and Ella Mary Moore.

Survivors include one daughter, Tiffany Moore of Athens; four brothers, Willie Moore Jr., Clarence Moore and Robert Moore, all of Athens, and Brian Moore of Courtland; four sisters, Nora McCullough and Susie Ann Moore, both of Athens, and Vickie Langford and Patricia Langford, both of Huntsville.

Pearlie Patterson

ATHENS -- Pearlie Patterson, 82, of Talladega and formerly of Athens, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, in Talladega. Spry Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

Neil Aldridge Smith

Funeral for Neil Aldridge Smith, 65, of Decatur will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Reding and Buddy Simmons officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born May 18, 1936, in Lawrence County, to Porter Smith and Sellie Terry Smith. He lived in Courtland most of his life and retired from Fruehauf. He was a member of Courtland Baptist Church. He was the brother of the late G.C. Smith.

Survivors include his mother of Decatur; two brothers, Felton Smith of Decatur and Don Smith of Moulton; and four sisters, Opal Anderson of Columbia, Tenn., Doris Aldridge of Trinity, Anelia Faye Smith of Oneonta and Merion Hutton of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Jason Smith, Roland Anderson, Kenny Anderson, Jason Anderson, Chad Hutton, Mickey Smith, Randy Smith and Bryan Anderson.

Anna Hagood Thornton

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Anna Hagood Thornton, 93, of Athens will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Dement Cemetery with James Bridges officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Thornton died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Oct. 20, 1908, in Limestone County, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Westview Church of Christ.

Survivors include one son, Danny Hagood of Lacey's Spring; one brother, Billy Joe Legg of Athens; four sisters, Grace Boyd and Bobbie Romine, both of Athens, Ella Boyd of Pulaski, Tenn., and Elise Bridges of Tuscumbia; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Legg, Calvin Anderson, Mike Carter, Shane Anderson, David Anderson and Chris Carter.

James Monroe Vining

ATHENS -- Funeral for James Monroe Vining, 74, of Athens will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bobby Robinson officiating.

Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Vining died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at his home. He was born Feb. 27, 1927, in Limestone County to Floyd Vining and Pearlie Brooks Vining. He was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Vining; one son, Roger Vining of Ardmore; two daughters, Patsy Ruf and Paula Bullington, both of Athens; three brothers, Claud Vining of Athens, Coynell Vining of Huntsville and Roston Vining of Ardmore; two sisters, Dorothy Walker of Athens and Martha Kennedy of Elkmont; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jason Ruf, Justin Ruf, Corey Vining, Clint Vining, David Mitchell, Chad Reed and Chad Vining.

Memorials may be made to Hospice.

David Allen Whitaker

A memorial service for David Allen Whitaker, 44, of Panama City, Fla., and formerly of Morgan County, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lebanon Baptist Church near Falkville with the Rev. A. Ray Lee officiating.

Mr. Whitaker died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, in Panama City. He was born Sept. 4, 1957, in Morgan County to J.C. Whitaker and Louise McCaig Whitaker. He was a construction worker.

Survivors include one son, Joseph Whitaker of Decatur; one daughter, Samantha Whitaker of Decatur; his mother of Moulton; and two brothers, Billy Whitaker of Panama City and Thomas Whitaker of Akron, Ohio.
