ATHENS -- Charles Richard Watson, 38, of Lester died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital.
He was born Oct. 28, 1963, in Louisiana to George Watson and Louise Romine Watson. He was a truck driver.
Survivors include his mother of Lester; two brothers, Jeffrey H. Watson of Brandon, Miss., and James Glenn Watson of Jackson, Miss.; three sisters, Arleta Goss of Vicksburg, Miss., and Pamella Grantham and Trena Armstrong, both of Jackson, Miss.

Ray Cole
Funeral for Ray Cole, 74, of Decatur will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.
Mr. Cole died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born July 4, 1927, in Limestone County. His grandparents, Jake and Lucy Grooms, raised him. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from Monsanto, now Solutia Inc., after 31 years of service. He also worked for Shelby Cole Mobile Homes in Huntsville and was the owner of Homestead Mobile Homes in Decatur. He was past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4190.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Cole; two sons, Roger Kevin Cole of Orlando, Fla., and James Kelly Cole of Pelham; two daughters, Kim McBride and Kerri Cole, both of Decatur; one sister, Lucille Kelly of Connecticut; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mark Sanford, Robert Hawthorne, Luke Littrell, Darryl Alred, Chuck Cole and Chuck McClendon.
Silas P. Free
TUSCUMBIA -- Funeral for Silas P. Free, 91, of Leighton and formerly of Hartselle will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home with Gerald Pennington and Phillip Hines officiating.
Burial will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery in Hartselle. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Free died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Shoals Hospital. He was born Feb. 5, 1911, in Lawrence County to John Allan Free and Lizzy Armstrong Free. He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired as an electrician from Reynolds Metals Co. He was a member of Leighton Church of Christ, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 558, the Leighton Lions Club and the American Legion. He was a Cub Scout pack leader and a lifetime member of the Colbert County High School Boosters Club.
Survivors include his wife, Louise McCutcheon Free; one son, Jimmy Allan Free of Muscle Shoals; one daughter, Zena Free Bradford of Atlanta; one brother, Paul Free of Montgomery; one sister, Madaline Free Cox of Hartselle; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Felton, David McCutcheon, Steve McCutcheon, Phil McCutcheon, Randall Thornton and Don Vest.

Velma Howell
TRINITY -- Funeral for Velma Howell, 84, of Trinity will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitch Smith and the Rev. Hugh Bohling officiating.

Miss Howell died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born June 23, 1917, in Lawrence County to Samuel Howell and Florence Reynolds Howell. She was a member of Hillsboro Baptist Church.
Survivors include one brother, Atley Howell of Decatur; four sisters, Hazel Wilson of North Carolina, Minnie Stewart of Trinity, Norma Proctor of Decatur and Opal Jones of Hillsboro.
Pallbearers will be Dwight Proctor, Ryan Proctor, Eugene Lindsey, Frankie Rhodes, Johnny Jones and Ronald Linderman.
Odell F. Iddins Sr.
GLENNVILLE, Ga. -- Funeral for Odell F. Iddins Sr., 71, of Glennville will be today at 2 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home with the Rev. Wilford Hardin and the Rev. Harris Nix officiating. Burial will be in Stoney Hill Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Iddins died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at his home. He was born Feb. 10, 1930, in Reidsville, Ga., to Harvey Iddins and Ada Sharp Iddins. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and retired as a supervisor from Union Camp Paper Corp. He was a member of Stoney Hill Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Iddins; two sons, Odell F. "Nick" Iddins Jr. of Somerville and Samuel Iddins of Glennville; two brothers, Retus Iddins of Reidsville, Ga., and Burnice Iddins of Glennville; one sister, Wanda Wiggins of Glennville; and two grandchildren.
Gladys Elizabeth 'Dee' Knapp
MOULTON -- Funeral for Gladys Elizabeth "Dee" Knapp, 77, of Maiden, N.C., will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. William Briley officiating.
Burial will be in Cave Springs Cemetery in Town Creek.
Ms. Knapp died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of England.
Survivors include two daughters, Christine Parker of Maiden, N.C., and Pauline Veil, of Detroit; and two brothers, Sonny Straton and Len Straton, both of Hertfordshire, England.
Leon Joyce Matthews
TUSCUMBIA -- Funeral for Leon Joyce Matthews, 76, of Muscle Shoals will be today at 2 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Odell Snow officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Matthews died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Shoals Hospital. He was born Oct. 21, 1925, in Union Grove to John Matthews and Cora Ables Matthews. He was a Marine veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He retired as an assistant superintendent of the United States Army Corps of Engineers after 23 years. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church and a lifetime member of Washington Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Knight Matthews; two sons, Jimmy L. Matthews of Muscle Shoals and Greg Matthews of Decatur; one brother, Judson Matthews of Muscle Shoals; one sister, Ona Kirkland of Tuscumbia; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ted Thompson, Doug Bumpas, Mark Kirkland, Bob Ables, Wade Agee and Quinton Hughes.

Evelyn Miller Meadway

Mrs. Meadway died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at her residence. She was born Sept. 2, 1932, in Anchorage, Ky., to Edwin H. Miller and Thelma Simpson Miller. Mrs. Meadway was a member of First United Methodist Church and The Heart of Dixie Orchid Society. She was the widow of the late Raymond Elmer "Red" Meadway.

Mrs. Myatt died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at her home. She was born May 17, 1915, in Tennessee to Henry Southern Neely and Eva Faithful Smith Neely. She was a homemaker and a member of Hartselle Church of Christ. She was the widow of Carl Hooper Myatt.
Survivors include two sons, Carl M. Myatt of Davisburg, Mich., and John H. Myatt of Utica, Mich.; three daughters, Jean Facine, Alma J. Facine and Shirley Seibert, all of Hartselle; one brother, Bob Neely of Lyles, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Ms. Pitts died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Dec. 15, 1977. She was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Mr. Blakely died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Nov. 7, 1947, in Limestone County to Lige Blakely and Christine Slaton Blakely. He was a former employee of Sweet Sue. He was the brother of the late Thomas Blakely.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Blakely; two sons, Eugene Blakely and Michael Blakely, both of Lester; one daughter, Paula Adams of Athens; one sister, Audine McLemore of Lester; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Cannon died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 7, 1946, in Cincinnati to Arlie G. Cannon and Alba L. Nelson Cannon.

Mrs. Killen died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at her home. She was born Dec. 15, 1929, in Ohio to Harry Dodd and Mary Raines Dodd. She retired as a file clerk from the Tennessee Valley Authority at Browns Ferry nuclear plant. She was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Killen and Jay Killen, both of Memphis; two daughters, Laura Ray of Vinemont and Jenny Killen Hutto of Athens; two brothers, the Rev. Harry K. Dodd of Checotah, Okla., and Bill Dodd of Grant, Ohio; one sister, Donna Clark of Whitehall, Ohio; and one grandson.
