Bertha Bullard Meldgaard

TRINITY -- Funeral for Bertha Bullard Meldgaard, 90, of Decatur will be tonight at 8 at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Nelson Bullard and the Rev. Allen Queen officiating.

Graveside service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Meldgaard died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. She was born Dec. 30, 1911, in Morgan County to David S. Bullard and Nettie Roper Bullard. She retired from the United States Treasury in Washington, D.C., after 30 years. She was a member of Bellview Baptist Church. She was the widow of Freeman Hudgins and Ole K. Meldgaard. She was the sister of the late Vergie Bullard Wade.

Survivors include two brothers, Henry A. Bullard of Decatur and Nelson E. Bullard of Double Springs; and one sister, Olene Bullard Hughes of Decatur.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Bellview Baptist Church Building Fund, 5539 Old Moulton Road, Decatur, AL 35603.

Pauline F. Parker

TRINITY -- Funeral for Pauline F. Parker, 80, of Trinity will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Sartain and the Rev. Mike Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Parker died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born April 8, 1921, in Lawrence County to Wilburn Alred and Gertha Sharp Alred. She was a seamstress and a member of Conway Baptist Church. She was the widow of Grady D. Parker.

Survivors include three sons, G.W. Parker, Dual Wayne Parker and Tommy "Buddy" Parker, all of Trinity; three daughters, Maephine Parker, Shelby Owens and Brenda Sapp, all of Trinity; two brothers, Ellis Alred of Athens and Floyd Alred of Florida; one sister, Joyce Terry of Moulton; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Grady S. Drake

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Grady S. Drake, 62, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Drake died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Sunbridge Health Care.

The funeral home will announce further arrangements.

Armand Porter 'Buddy' Fawcett

Funeral for Armand Porter "Buddy" Fawcett, 78, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendell Shirley officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Fawcett died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Jan. 23, 1924, in Carlisle, Ark., to Capers Fawcett and Olive Plummer Fawcett. He was a retired hardware store owner and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Spring Avenue Nazarene Church.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Fawcett; one daughter, Suzanne Turner of Decatur; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Spring Avenue Nazarene Church or Hospice of the Valley.

Lillie Mae McCurry

ATHENS -- Funeral for Lillie Mae McCurry, 89, of Athens will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Randy Johnson, Douglas McCurry and William McCurry officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. McCurry died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at Limestone Lodge. She was born Oct. 27, 1912, in Limestone County to Claude Griffin and Maggie Scott Griffin.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the widow of Marvin McCurry. She was the sister of the late Fletcher Griffin and Porter Griffin.

Survivors include: one sister, Mattie Lou Wright of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Wright, Granville Wright, Dwight Bowling, Edsel Wright, Woodrow McCurry and Larry McCurry.

Amanda Suzanne Killian McMahon

Graveside service for Amanda Suzanne Killian McMahon, 26, of Hartselle will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East in Trussville with the Rev. Don Wright officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Ms. McMahon died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, in Albertville. She was born May 16, 1975, in Birmingham to Thomas H. Killian and Dianne Lanford Killian. She was a 1993 graduate of Austin High School and attended the University of South Alabama and Calhoun Community College.

She was the granddaughter of the late Jean Bunn and Edwin and Molly Lanford.

Survivors include two daughters, Molly Hannah McMahon and Sarah Kathryn McMahon, both of Hartselle; her parents of Hartselle; one brother, Stephen Matthew Killian of Florence; and her grandfather, John R. Bunn of Albertville.

Anne Guyton Pirie

Funeral for Anne Guyton Pirie, 89, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Richmond Webster officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church library.

Mrs. Pirie died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville. She was born Sept. 12, 1912, in Litchfield, Ill. She graduated from Central High School in 1929, and she was a former member of Daughters of the American Revolution and United Daughters of the Confederacy.

She attended Columbia Institute in Columbia, Tenn., and she was a medical record technician. She was the widow of William Edward Pirie.

Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Pirie McInnis of Decatur; one brother, John Joseph Guyton of Indiana; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Judson Hawthorne, Greg Hughes, Robert Ramey, Thomas Guyton, William McInnis and Thomas McInnis.

Grady S. Drake

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Grady S. Drake, 62, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Garrison officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Drake died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation in Decatur. He was born Oct. 1, 1939, in Morgan County to Clarence Raymond Drake and Ethel Jane Miller Drake. He was a United States Navy veteran and a self-employed painter.

Survivors include one son, Grady Glenn Drake of North Carolina; one daughter, Janet Lee Drake of North Carolina; one brother, Robert Wayne Drake of Athens; two sisters, Linda Patterson and Betty Drake, both of Huntsville; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mark Hunter, Curtis Boyles, Lee Boyles, Carl Thrasher, Butch Dunford and Terry Miller.

Clyde Grimes

ALBERTVILLE -- Funeral for Clyde Grimes, 78, of Boaz was to be today at 2 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church near Horton.

Burial was to be in new Hope Cemetery with Adams-Brown Service Funeral Home of Albertville directing.

Mr. Grimes died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at his home. He was born Dec. 27, 1923, to John Walker Grimes and Stella Whitten Grimes. He was a semi-retired farmer and member of Bethany Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Mitchell Gray Grimes; two sons, Olan Grimes of Douglas and Andy Grimes of Boaz; one daughter, Connie Grimes Kuecker of Dixon Springs; one brother, Arzie Grimes of Decatur; one sister, Jewel Grimes Dendy of Albertville; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to a favorite church or charity.

Charles Spencer 'Charlie' Winchester

TRINITY -- Funeral for Charles Spencer "Charlie" Winchester, 51, of Moulton will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Harold Letson and Mike Nix officiating.

Burial will be in Dancy's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Winchester died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at his home. He was born March 31, 1950, in Lawrence County, to Joe Winchester and Ludania South Winchester. He was a laborer at Ingalls Shipyard and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Winchester was the brother of the late Dale Winchester and Bobby Winchester.

Survivors include five brothers, Willard Winchester of Florida, Don Winchester of Hillsboro, Danny Winchester and Michael Winchester, both of Moulton, and James Ricky Winchester of Madison; and two sisters, Martha White of Moulton and Margie Wimbs of Town Creek.

Pallbearers will be Tony White, Bill White, Brian Winchester, Brandon Wimbs, Rolland Winchester and Lance Wilbanks.

Janice Kay Wynn

Funeral for Janice Kay Wynn, 62, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Hartselle with the Rev. Marty O. Wynn, the Rev. Teddy Steele and the Rev. Ron Manley officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Shelton Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Wynn died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at her home. She was born March 7, 1939, in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., to Homer Clarence Beck and Ola Pearl Grizzard Beck. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, the Rev. Marty Oneal Wynn of Columbus, Ga., Timothy Charles Wynn of Vinemont, Joseph Vaughn Wynn of Decatur and Jonathan David Wynn of Trinity; five brothers, Marshall Beck of Florence, Victor Beck and Jerry Beck, both of Columbia, Tenn., W.C. Beck of Chattanooga and Dickie Beck of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; one sister, Mallene White of Buffalo, Mo.; and 10 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Larry Little, Mike Self, Stephen Wynn, Jon Steele, Ryan Braswell and Randy Braswell.

Ora Rebecca Adkins
Funeral for Ora Rebecca Adkins, 90, of Decatur will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Daryl Watkins and the Rev. Floyd Humphrey officiating.

Burial will be in Sand Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be in the church from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Mrs. Adkins died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at her home. She was born March 23, 1911, in Priceville.

Survivors include one son, Willie Strain of Decatur; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Allen Barnett

ATHENS -- Funeral for Allen Barnett, 71, of Athens will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Hobbs Street Church of Christ with Bill Irby and Malcolm Andrews officiating.

Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens with Spry Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Barnett died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Limestone Health Facility. He was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Limestone County to Roy Barnett and Bertha May Barnett. He retired from ConAgra as a maintenance worker. He was a member of Hobbs Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Cleo Barnett; two sons, Steve Allen Barnett and Ronald James Barnett, both of Athens; three daughters, Patsy Kay Kyle, Jane Springer and Janet Pitts, all of Athens; six brothers, Horace Barnett, Roy Barnett Jr., Cordell Barnett and Richard Barnett, all of Athens, Grady Barnett of Elkmont and Bobby Wayne Barnett of Anderson; two sisters, Doris Moore and Rebecca Emerson, both of Athens; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
