ATHENS -- Funeral for Barbara Ann Jones-Green , 43, of Athens will be Monday at noon at New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry R. Lockett Sr. officiating and People's Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery. The body will be at the church one hour prior to service.
Mrs. Green died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Sept. 28, 1958, in Athens to Charlie "Buddy" Jones and Betty Elizabeth Green .
Survivors include one daughter, Terranda Cenille Cosby of Athens; her father of Huntsville; her mother of Athens; two sisters, Pamela Regina Green of Athens, and Gwen Jones of Chicago; three brothers, Dennis Wayne Green and Dana Alan Green both of Athens, Jeff Jones of Chicago; and one granddaughter, Tyana Michal Green of Athens.
Bobby Letson
MOULTON -- Funeral for Bobby Letson, 67, of Moulton will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home. Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Sammie Dawson Mason
ATHENS -- Funeral for Sammie Dawson Mason, 100, of Athens will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Church of America with the Rev. Robert L. Rice officiating and People's Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery. The body will be in the church one hour prior to service.
Mrs. Mason died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Athens Nursing Home. She was born March 15, 1901, in Elkmont to John Jackson Dawson and Pearl Alexander Dawson.
Survivors include her foster daughter, Fannie Scales; one grandson; and nieces and nephews.
Lenna M. Nelson
SIERRA VISTA, ARIZ. -- Lenna M. Nelson, 83, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Sierra Vista Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Nelson was born Oct. 6, 1918, in Washington County, Ark., to Cora Van Hoose and Arthur N. Shively. She was a former resident of Decatur and a retired registered nurse with the American Red Cross.
Survivors include her husband, Charles W. Nelson; three daughters, Carla Nelson of Sierra Vista; Clara Blackwell of Decatur, and Sandi Crane of Twin Bridges, Mont.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Roxie Mathews Oden
HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Roxie Mathews Oden, 96, of Decatur will be today at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery at Eva. The family will receive friends today from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Oden died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 24, 1905, in Tennessee to James Thomas Mathews and Mary Elizabeth Kennedy Mathews. She was a homemaker and member of Central Baptist Church.
Mrs. Oden was the wife of the late Curtis H. Oden, and sister of the late Bertha Hankins, Hobert Mathews, Cleve Mathews, Edgar K. Mathews, Homer Mathews, Harold Mathews, J.B. Mathews, Clifford Mathews and William Mathews.
Survivors include one brother, Clyde Mathews of Arab; and one sister, Mary Iva Smallwood of Orlando, Fla.
Otes E. Staples
HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Otes E. Staples, 86, of Falkville will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Reeves officiating and Peck Funeral home directing.

Mr. Staples died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born May 6, 1915, in Morgan County to J.D. Staples and Lattie Dutton Staples. Mr. Staples attended Pleasant View Church of Christ. He was a retired farmer and steel mill worker at Hammond, Ind. He was the brother of the late Florine Maddox.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Staples; one son, Bobby Staples of Herndon, Va.; and three sisters, Oda Staples of Falkville, Evylee Minor of Nashville, and Dean Payne of Decatur.
Pallbearers will be Leon Asherbranner, Phillip Asherbranner, Ronnie Asherbranner, Willard Asherbranner, Don Hogan, Paul McLamb, Billy Tillman and Conrad Turrentine.
Almetia Jackson Stephenson
Funeral for Almetia Jackson Stephenson, 83, of Moulton will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Town Creek Number One in Landersville with the Rev. Charles Burgess officiating and Sharpley Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Landersville Cemetery. The body will be in the church one hour prior to service.
Mrs. Stephenson died Wed- nes- day, Feb. 20, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born May 21, 1918, in Landersville to John and Mettie Freeman Jackson. She was the widow of Grant Stephenson and the mother of the late Willard Stephenson.
Survivors include one son, Ozell Stephenson of Moulton; two daughters, Alethia Burgess of Moulton, and Rose Jackson of Landersville; two brothers, Fernando Jackson of Moulton, and Johnny Jackson of Landersville; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be J.C. Jackson, Greg Stephenson, Randall Stephenson, Harvey Brown, John Jackson and Patrick Sharpley.
William Wilford Barnett

Mr. Barnett died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, in Albany, Ga. He was born Jan. 1, 1929, in Cullman to James Frances Barnett and Lena Elizabeth Clark Barnett. Mr. Barnett was a retired sewing machine mechanic. He was the brother of the late Rachel Smith and Maurice Barnett.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Barnett; two sons, Harold D. Barnett of Falkville, and Kenneth D. Barnett of Maryland; one daughter, Linda K. Rimbenieks of Ohio; three brothers, Eugene Barnett, W.L. Barnett, and Hubert Barnett, all of Cullman; five sisters, Ruby Nichols, Ethelene King, Glenice Tankersley, Rilla Quick, and Pauline Porter, all of Cullman; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Preston David Lee Cooper

The child died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Aug. 30, 1997, in Morgan County to David Cooper and Elizabeth Gurliaccio.
Survivors include his parents; one sister, Harley Nicole Cooper of Trinity; and grandparents, Ray and Emelina Watkins. He was the grandchild of the late Harley and Nora Cooper.
Edward E. Garrett
Funeral for Edward E. Garrett, 82, of Decatur will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Coomer and the Rev. Martin Steelman officiating.

Mr. Garrett died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation for Decatur. He was born Oct. 12, 1919, in Morgan County to Charles and Florence Garrett. Mr. Garrett was a retired cement mason and 40-year member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers Local 15. He was also a past owner of Luigi's Grill. He was the widower of Lillie Mae Garrett.
Survivors include four daughters, Judy Faye Carr, Nancy Ann Smith, and Cheri Lynn Garrett, all of Decatur, and Nina Holt of Hartselle; one brother, Calvis Garrett of Decatur; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Thurman Garrett, Ellis Garrett, Ben Drinkard, Gary Drinkard, Tim Moore and Barney Pate.
Hyacinth Childers Greer
BECKEMEYER, ILL. -- Funeral for Hyacinth Childers Greer, 65, of Beckemeyer, Ill., will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Eva with the Rev. Billy Teague officiating and Moss Funeral Home directing.
The body will be at the church from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be in Childers Family Cemetery in Eva.
Mrs. Greer died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese, Ill. She was born Dec. 29, 1934, in Alabama to Grady and Oma Childers. Mrs. Greer was the sister of the late Norman Childers, Brady Childers and Bunie Mae Childers.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Greer of Beckemeyer; three sons, Jimmy Greer of Gardner, Kan., and Douglas Greer and Eddie Greer, both of Breese; two brothers, Loyd Childers of Eva, and Frank Childers of Hartselle; two sisters, Hazel Stinson of Eva, and Velvie Sterling of Hartselle; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.
David Von Hill

Mr. Hill died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at his home. He was born July 12, 1942, in Morgan County to Gilbert W. Hill and Irene Alford Hill. He was a machine operator at Cullman Cabinet and a Vietnam veteran serving in the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Hill was the brother of the late Margie Hill Anderson.
Survivors include his wife, Donna West Hill of Eva; two sons, Jonathan Hill and Aaron Hill, both of Hamptonville, N.C.; one daughter, Sharon Hill Duncan of Hamptonville, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Sonja Frost Duke of Cullman, and Lisa Frost Chunn of Hartselle; his mother of Eva; three brothers, Carl Hill of Falkville, and Paul Gene Hill and Joe Hill, both of Eva; three sisters, Dean Hill Stevens of Snellville, Ga., and Eulene Hill Hutchins and Sandra Hill Roberts, both of Eva; one grandchild; and three step-grandchildren.

Mrs. Holt died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born April 24, 1918, in Cullman County to Sherman Henry Young and Mirtie L. Helton Young. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Holt was the sister of the late Stanley Young, Curtis E. Young and Dwight Young, all of Falkville.
Survivors include one son, Larry Holt of Falkville; five brothers, Prentice Young, Kenneth Young, Trainnice Young, Allen Young and Wayne Young, all of Falkville; two sisters, Irene Grant and Maillen Young, both of Falkville; and one grandson, Anthony Holt.
Pallbearers will be Robert Jordan, Wayne Young, Jamie Young, Craig Jordan, Allen Wayne Young and Donald Light.
Lela Cooper Letson

Mrs. Letson died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Big Springs Specialty Care Center. She was born April 6, 1925, in Madison County to John C. Lanier and Nannie Lou Brooks Lanier.
Mrs. Letson was a retired assembly worker at P.R. Mallory Company in Huntsville and a member of the Joy Bible Class at Hazel Green First Baptist Church. She was the widow of Buddy Letson, who died Feb. 11, 2002.
Survivors include two sons, Troy Cooper of Huntsville, and John Cooper of Pasadena, Texas; one daughter, Judy Gail Buchanan of Stevenson; one stepdaughter, Terisa L. Tapscott of Hartselle; four sisters, Lorene Luke of Dickson, Tenn., Peggy Ann Brown of Hazel Green , Edie Faye Kazima of Pasedena, Texas, and Johnnie Ann Elliott of Cheshire, Conn; three brothers, James Lanier of Lacey's Spring, Ulys Lanier of Huntsville and Jon Sidney Lanier of Dallas, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
