Robert Lee 'Buddy' Mills

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Robert Lee "Buddy" Mills, 78, of Athens will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Reunion Cemetery with the Rev. John R. Moss officiating and Limestone Chapel Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Hill died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Sunbridge Healthcare in Fayetteville, Tenn. He was born Dec. 18, 1923, in Limestone County to Henry Mills and Myrtle Porter Mills. Mr. Hill was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was the father of the late David Mills and Billy Mills.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Burns Mills; four sons, Jerry Mills of Athens, Calvin Mills of Fort Worth, Texas, James Mills of High Point, N.C., and Tommy Mills of Dalton, Ga.; one daughter, Martha Adams of Athens; one sister, Lurena Willett of Hohenwald, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be John Henry Brumitt, Rodie Brumitt, Michael Moss, R.L. Usery, Billy Ray Moss, and James Usery.

Margaret Jeanette Ferguson Parker

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Margaret Jeanette Ferguson Parker, 64, of Huntsville will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Bottom Cemetery with the Rev. Ed McCracken officiating and Limestone Chapel Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Parker died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at her residence. She was born May 6, 1937, in Limestone County to Jeff Ferguson and Olgie Ferguson. She was the mother of the late David Michael Campbell, and grandmother of the late Sable Ann Perry. Mrs. Parker was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy L. Parker; one daughter, Dianne Perry of Athens; one brother, R.C. Ferguson of Tanner; one stepsister, Lucille Spurlock of Huntsville; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Juanita Mae Tolbert

Funeral for Juanita Mae Tolbert, 75, of Decatur will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Hoover and Dr. Mark Tolbert officiating and the funeral home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7:30 until 9 at the funeral home.

Another service will be at the First Baptist Church of Stockbridge, Ga., on Tuesday morning at 11 with Cannon-Cleveland Funeral Directors directing. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home, at 2580 Highway 42 North in McDonough, Ga.

Burial will be in Camp Memorial Park Cemetery in Fayetteville, Ga.

Mrs. Tolbert died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at Morningside Assisted Living in Decatur. She was born Aug. 29, 1926, in Indianapolis, Ind., to William Miles Grey and Mildred Nowlin Grey. Mrs. Tolbert was the widow of Joel Marcus Tolbert. She was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Dr. Mark Tolbert of Decatur; one daughter, Beverly Anne Higgenbotham of Ellenwood, Ga.; one sister, Floy Linton of Tyronne, Ga.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research.

Honorary pallbearers will be Central Baptist Church's ministerial staff and deacons.

Phyllis Dianne Ball
CULLMAN -- Funeral for Phyllis Dianne Ball, 51, of Houston will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Addison Church of God with the Rev. Chuck Conley officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with Williams-McCracken Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Ball died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at her home. She was born Feb. 16, 1951, in Attalla to Jiles Odean Hammett and Nellie Kelley Hammett. She was a homemaker and the mother of the late Jeremy Ray Ball.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond J. Ball Jr.; three daughters, Angela Smith of Houston, Donna Ball of Houston and Jennifer Crow of Moreland; two brothers, Jimmy Hammett of Etowah County and Donald Hammett of Houston; two sisters, Mildred McDaniel and Pat Evans, both of Etowah County; and four grandchildren.

Mary Beatrice 'Bea' Campbell

Graveside service for Mary Beatrice "Bea" Campbell, 91, of Decatur was to be today at 2:30 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Mike King officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family was to receive friends today from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Campbell died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation. She was born May 4, 1910, in Sheffield to Roy Azbell and Mary Williams Azbell. She was a member of Grant Street Church of Christ. She was the widow of Charles Marion Campbell and mother of the late Charles Edward Campbell.

Survivors include one daughter, June Cain of Decatur; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Albert L. Fowler

HUTCHINSON, Kan. -- Funeral for Albert L. Fowler, 79, of Kansas was to be today at 2 p.m. at Johnson and Sons Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ray Kempel officiating.

Mr. Fowler died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, in Kansas. He was born Oct. 13, 1922, in Florette to William Harvey Fowler and Etha Elizabeth Weaver Fowler. He worked as a supervisor for Consolidated Manufacturing for 36 years until his retirement in 1987. The United States Army World War II veteran was a member of VFW, American Legion and Moose Lodge in Hutchinson.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Shuman Fowler; one son, Kenneth Fowler of Buhler, Kan.; three daughters, Barbara Woelk of Austin, Texas, Anita Schwartzhopf of Loveland, Colo., and Kim Carraway of Wichita, Kan.; one stepdaughter, Kristin Mallory of Olathe, Kan.; one brother, Oliver Fowler of Somerville; two sisters, Lois Tapscott of Priceville and Lula Keel of Hartselle; and nine grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Reno County, Kan.

Deborah Lynn Gann

TRINITY -- Funeral for Deborah Lynn Gann, 49, of Trinity was to be today at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Fitzgerald an the Rev. Danny Carter officiating.

Burial was to be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Gann died at her home Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002. She was born March 4, 1952, in Marion County, to Oscar Vickery and Marley Vickery. She was a registered nurse and a member of Berea Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Gerry Gann; one son, Brent Gann of Decatur; one daughter, Lindsey Gann of Trinity; her parents, of Hodges; and one brother, Larry Vickery of Valley.

Pallbearers will be Tim Gann, Dwayne Gann, Jason Gann, Don Dillard, Anthony Blackwood and Norman McLemore.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.

Sullivan Hollis III

Funeral for Sullivan Hollis III, 33, of Chicago, Ill., will be Tuesday at noon at Emmanuel Church in Decatur with Bishop Karockas Watkins officiating.

Burial will be in Restvale Cemetery in Alsop, Ill., with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Hollis died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Sept. 27, 1968, in Bad-Herfield, West Germany, to Sullivan Hollis Jr. and Mattie Hollis. He graduated from Chicago public schools and served three years in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Emmanuel Church.

Survivors include: one son, Sullivan Hollis IV of Chicago; his father and stepmother, Sullivan Hollis Jr. and Jackie Hollis of Chicago; his stepfather and stepmother, Noah Boyett and Hazel Boyett of Decatur; two brothers, Samuel Hollis and Tremayne Hollis, both of Chicago; one sister, Gale Henry of Chicago; one stepbrother, Marcus Stovall of Huntsville; one stepsister, Audra Watkins of Decatur; his grandfather, William Boyett of Springfield, Ill.; and his grandmothers, Marie Lovett of Chicago and Dezzie Miller of Decatur.

The men of Emmanuel Church will be pallbearers.

Sammie Dawson Mason

ATHENS -- Funeral for Sammie Dawson Mason, 100, of Athens was Sunday at Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Church of America with the Rev. Robert L. Rice officiating and People's Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Thatch-Mann Cemetery.

Mrs. Mason died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Athens Nursing Home. She was born March 15, 1901, in Elkmont to John Jackson Dawson and Pearl Alexander Dawson.

Survivors include her foster daughter, Fannie Scales; one grandson; and nieces and nephews.

Mary Roberson Morgan

Funeral for Mary Roberson Morgan, 80, of Brandon, Miss., will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at W.K. Stephenson Chapel at First Baptist Church of Decatur with the Rev. W.K. Stephenson officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Morgan died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at Cross Gates Manor Nursing Home in Brandon. She was born in Decatur. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She was the widow of Eugene Morgan.

Survivors include one son, Eugene Morgan Jr. of Brandon; one brother, Spurgeon Roberson of Decatur; and two grandchildren.

Doris Putman

MOULTON -- Funeral for Doris Turner Putman, 70, of Moulton will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Turner and the Rev. Bruce Fitzgerald officiating.

Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Putman died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at her home. She was born Jan. 24, 1932, in Lawrence County, to Richard Turner and Lorene Hill Turner. Mrs. Putman was a homemaker and a member of Berea Baptist Church where she was treasurer for 40 years. She was the widow of Frank Putman and the mother of the late Richard Putman. Mrs. Putman was the sister of the late Corraine Moats.

Survivors include two sons, Stanley Cheatham of Trinity and James Cheatham of Moulton; three daughters, Pat Haynes and Sandra Alexander, both of Moulton, and Edie Finau of Fayettville, N.C.; three brothers, Richard Turner and J.E. Turner, both of Moulton, and Wayne Turner of Trinity; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Randy Hill, Johnny Turner, Mike Moats, Jon Turner, Jeff Turner and Ricky Turner.

Clara Clem Totten

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Clara Clem Totten, 78, of Athens was to be today at 10 a.m. at Athens City Cemetery with Mike Davis officiating.

Mrs. Totten died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at Limestone Health Facility. She was born April 4, 1923, in Limestone County to Jay E. Clem and Clara Hine Clem. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Athens, former administrator of Athens Convalescent Center, former owner of the Lucky Girl Shop and former chairwoman of the Limestone Chapter of the American Red Cross. The late Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey presented Mrs. Totten with an award for service for the American Red Cross. She retired as a receptionist for Dr. Robert Pitman's office.

Survivors include two sons, Mike Totten and Dan Totten, both of Athens; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Gilbert of Athens; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross.

James B. Ward

Graveside service for James B. Ward, 67, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Ronnie Bullard officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Ward died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation. He was born Sept. 14, 1934, in Morgan County to Ernest P. Ward and Lucille Ratcliffe-Ward. He retired from Decatur Utilities after 32 years of service. He was a Methodist, and he was the father of the late Alan Ward.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie N. Ward; two sons, Andy Ward of Decatur and Arlon Ward of Cartersville, Ga.; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Segars, Charles Segars, Jerry Segars, Larry Segars, Mike Segars and Ricky Segars.
