Mary Ann McAbee Alexander
Funeral for Mary Ann McAbee Alexander, 66, of Decatur will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Stephen W. Caudle officiating.
Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Alexander died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at her home. She was born Nov. 3, 1935, in Morgan County, to Ernest Lamar McAbee and Ruth Harpe McAbee. She worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C., and was Morgan County's first full-time license inspector. She also was one of the first assembly line workers at Auto-Lite, which later became Prestolite. She then worked in estimating and selling metal buildings in North Alabama and Tennessee.
Mrs. Alexander was a member of the Decatur Emblem Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and Mental Health Association. She also served on the board of directors for the American Red Cross and Thirteenth Place, a home for runaways. She was the mother of the late Joe Mack Alexander and Kelly Durrell Alexander.
Survivors include her husband, Harry N. Alexander; one son, Dale N. Alexander of Decatur; two sisters, Geraldine McAnnally and Rebecca Lamar Steward, both of Decatur; three grandchildren; and four step grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Hartselle, Walt McCurry, Doyle Bryant, Louis Russell, Ken Collier, Guy Hughes, Lucian McCulloch and Robert Jones.
Stephen L. Crabbe
Funeral for Morgan County Sheriff Stephen L. Crabbe, 62, of Decatur will be Friday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Wells, the Rev. Charles Boling and the Rev. Dr. Asa Boozer officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Shelton Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Shelton Funeral Home. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.
Mr. Crabbe died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Jan. 16, 1940, in Springfield, Ohio, to Charles Crabbe and Alice Bowman Crabbe. He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin University and retired after 33 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He was Morgan County sheriff for the past 11 years. Mr. Crabbe was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Alabama Sheriffs Association and honorary member of the Decatur Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow.
Survivors include his wife, Ann A. Crabbe; and one son, Robert Crabbe of Nashville.
Pallbearers will be Chief Deputy Tom Little, Capt. Mike Corley, Capt. James Hudson, Capt. Roger Smallwood, Dale McElyea, Tracy Tubbs, Jerry Knight and Capt. Bubba Price .
Honorary pallbearers will be Morgan County deputies and office workers and members of the Alabama Sheriff's Association.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
Gerald Henry Edwards
Funeral for Gerald Henry Edwards, 82, of Tanner will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Carl Whitty officiating.
Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Edwards died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at his home. He was born Jan. 24, 1920, in Twinty, Mich., to Ernest Edwards and Ruth Keeler Edwards. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired as an electrician from General Motors in Flint, Mich.
Survivors include his wife, Burnice Edwards; two sons, Floyd Edwards of Clio, Mich., and Budd Edwards of San Diego; one daughter, Sherry McDill of Athens; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Marie D. Goode
Graveside service for Marie D. Goode, 82, of Decatur will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Ripley Cemetery with George Williams Jr. officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Goode died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham. She was born March 15, 1919, in Morgan County to Charles Thomas Dudley and Mary McCormack Dudley. She was a member of Grant Street Church of Christ and retired from McClary Tire Co. after 43 years of service. She was the widow of Johnny R. Goode Sr.
Survivors include three sons, Johnny R. Goode Jr. and Richard D. Goode, both of Decatur, and Rod M. Goode of Montgomery; one sister, Cora Mack Turbot of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Johnny R. Goode III, Cory Goode, Rod Turbot, Jim McClary, Andy Anderson, B.L. Bryant and Ralph Brett.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society's Hope Center in Birmingham.
Larry Steve James Sr.
PRICEVILLE -- A military graveside service for Larry Steve James Sr., 61, of Decatur will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hartselle Memory Gardens with Father Joseph Culotta officiating and Priceville Funeral Home directing.
Mr. James died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Oct. 14, 1940, in Spencer, Iowa, to Elmore Dewitt James and Florence Walters James. He retired from the Air Force after 20 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Survivors include two sons, Larry James Jr. of Decatur and Michael James of Somerville; one brother, William R. James of Lakeland, Fla.; one sister, Linda Sue James of Lakeland, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
Larry Wayne Looney
ATHENS -- Funeral service for Larry Wayne Looney, 63, of Athens will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with George Dudley officiating.

Mr. Looney died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Jan. 16, 1939, in Limestone County to Lewell and Audrey Looney. He is a U.S. Navy veteran. He owned and operated Stump Stompers in Athens. He was the father of a late daughter, Tracey Looney.
He is survived by his wife, Mary M. Looney; three sons, Ronnie Looney, Bryan Looney and Frank Looney, all of Athens; one daughter, Shonnie Vercruysse of Athens; one stepson, Houston Avins of South Pittsburg, Tenn.; one brother, Bill Looney of Athens; one sister, Sue Looney Qualls of Athens; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Murphree died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at his home. He was born Feb. 20, 1914, in Eva to Albert Murphree and Mattie Andrews Murphree. He was a radio disk jockey. He was the brother of the late Lavert Murphree, L.D. Murphree, and O.C. Murphree.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Murphree; one son, Mike Murphree of Cullman; and two grandchildren.
Geneva McRee Bedingfield
ATHENS -- Funeral service for Geneva McRee Bedingfield of Athens was to be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Don Smitherman officiating.
Burial was to be in Civitan Cemetery in Rogersville. The family was to receive friends today from noon until time for the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bedingfield died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at her home. She was born in Limestone County to James and Nellie Spry Burchell. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rogersville. She was a homemaker and the widow of Hollis H. "Trig" Bedingfield.
Survivors include three daughters, Frances Daly of Athens, Patricia Burroughs of Rogersville and Joan Helms of Killen; two brothers, Clayton Burchell of Chattanooga and Ellis Burchell of Athens; three sisters, Rhoda Liles and Lyla Joyce Giddens, both of Childersburg, and Mavoline Skipworth of Center Star; a half-brother, Douglas Burchell of Rogersville; two half-sisters, LaVerne Martin of Trinity and Judy Bedingfield of Rogersville; nine grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Driggers died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born July 3, 1968, in Decatur to Holbert Pruitt Sr. and Peggy Pruitt. She was a beautician.
Survivors include her husband, Leroy Driggers; two sons, Adam Ulmer and Andrew Ulmer, both of Decatur; her parents of Decatur; one brother, Holbert Pruitt Jr. of Decatur; and her grandmother, Parilee Walker of Decatur.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church today from 3 p.m. until the service begins Saturday.
Mr. Hood died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at his parents' home in Moulton. He was born Feb. 24, 1963, in Lawrence County to William Junior Hood and Helen Mae Little Hood. He was employed by BE&K Construction of Decatur as a rigger. He was the grandson of the late Odis and Minnie Hood and Sallie Maude Little.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle Meadows Hood of Decatur; one son, Nicholas Hood of Russellville; one daughter, McKenzie Hood of Decatur; his parents of Moulton; one brother, Jackie Dale Hood of Moulton; and his grandfather, Grady Little of Mount Hope.

Angela Gail Jacobs

Ms. Jacobs died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, after an accident on the Interstate 65 Tennessee River Bridge. She was born July 15, 1980, in Decatur. She attended Austin High School and worked at 67 Generic Tobacco Outlet. She attended Decatur Christian Fellowship Church. She was the mother of the late Ulysses Lindsey.
Survivors include her father, David Jacobs of Decatur; her mother, Debra McKee of Decatur; one sister, Christy Mitchell of Decatur; and her grandparents, James and Louise Speakman of Decatur.
