Ronny Lynn Peebles

TRINITY -- Funeral for Ronny Lynn Peebles, 40, of Decatur will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Neal Blaxton officiating.

Burial will be in Smyrna Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Peebles died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Nov. 20, 1961, in Lawrence County, to Floyd Peebles and Martha Sims Peebles. He was owner of Peebles Automotive Shop and was a member of Straight Gospel Church.

Survivors include his wife, Denise Peebles of Decatur; one son, Lukas Peebles of Decatur; two daughters, Courtney Peebles and Taylor Peebles, both of Decatur; one stepdaughter, Felicia Hunter of Decatur; his mother and stepfather, Martha Hardiman and Leamon Hardiman of Priceville; one brother, Patrick Peebles of Decatur; one sister, Rhonda Froberg of Hartselle; two stepbrothers, Danny Hardiman of Tanner and Tim Hardiman of Decatur; one step sister, Bonnie Soloman of Decatur; and one grandson.

Pallbearers will be Todd Cagle, Tony Cottingham, Gary Cottingham, Greg Hester, Keith Clark and Junior Letson.

Nell Elizabeth Rudd

Funeral for Nell Elizabeth Rudd, 87, of Vienna Va., will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. W.K. Stephenson officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rudd died Feb. 24, 2002, at her home. She was born Oct. 19, 1914, to Frank Jones and Carrie Fields Jones. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Decatur and active in the Tennessee Valley Chrysanthemum Society and a member of Straw Hat Garden Club.

Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Keys of Vienna; one sister, Jean Dukes of Sheffield; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Kenneth R. Speegle

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Kenneth R. Speegle, 54, of Town Creek will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Jones officiating.

Burial will be in Shoal Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Speegle died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, in Decatur. He was born Jan. 12, 1948, in Morgan County to Horace Speegle and Edna M. Muzzey Corder. The 1966 Priceville High School graduate was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church and president of the Morgan County Bass Club. He played on Priceville's 1965 state championship basketball team and was staff manager at Mutual Savings Life Insurance Company.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Jo Speegle of Decatur; his mother of Decatur; three daughters, Kathy Lawrence of Hartselle and Tina Allen and Tammy Payne, both of Somerville; one sister, Karen Bennich of Hartselle; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Jim Berry, Charles Clemons, Don Fairbanks, Rudy McCarley, Glenn Priest, Willard Terry and Robert Utley.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley in Decatur.

Annie Mae Tarpley

ATHENS -- Funeral for Annie Mae Tarpley, 85, of Athens will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Ray Pettit and Mike Westmoreland officiating.

Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tarpley died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at SunBridge Care in Fayetteville, Tenn. She was born Aug. 10, 1916, in Limestone County to Jay and Della Guthrie. She was a member of Madison Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Edward Tarpley of Athens; one sister, Liddie Bea Johnson of Athens; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Dr. Jerome Turner

Funeral for Dr. Jerome Turner, 59, of Decatur will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Decatur with the Rev. Buddy Champion, the Rev. W.K. Stephenson, the Rev. Ed Ables and the Rev. Bob Sims officiating.

Burial will be in Burningtree Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the church.

Dr. Turner died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at Baptist Princeton Hospital in Birmingham. He was born July 11, 1942, in Decatur to Maxie Wayne Turner and Velma Tanner Turner. He was a veterinarian for more than 26 years. and a U.S. Army veteran. He attended Howard College in Birmingham and graduated from Auburn University, where he earned a degree in animal science. He also graduated from Auburn School of Veterinary Medicine. He was a member of First Baptist Church, a member of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, of which he served on the executive board. He was founder and former president of the Alabama Equine Practitioners Association and past president of the North Alabama Veterinary Medical Association.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Turner; two daughters, Allison Turner Bachofer of Florence and Amy Turner Minish of Montgomery; one sister, Pamela Turner Veal of Gardendale; his stepfather, James Heath of Gardendale; and two step-sisters, Linda Perkins and Debbie Turner, both of Cullman.

Pallbearers will be Frank Buckley, Dr. Kevin Barlow, Jimmy Lee, Dr. Ed Murray, Dr. Barry Stewart and Harold Wallace.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Roland Guyce Sunday School class and members of Alabama Veterinary Medical Association.

Memorials may be made to Auburn University Foundation for Large Animal Teaching Hospital Fund, 317 South College St., Auburn, AL 36849 or First Baptist Church building fund.

Dwight M. Borden

MOULTON -- Funeral for Dwight M. Borden, 43, of Moulton will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Fairfield Church of Christ with Ray McWhorter officiating and Elliott Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Bald Knob Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Borden died Friday, March 1, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born March 14, 1958, in Lawrence County, to Melvin and Sarah Borden. He was a former employee of the Decatur Sanitation Department.

Survivors include his father of Moulton; one brother, James Borden of Moulton; three sisters, Marie Smith of Moulton, Ann Cottingham of Trinity and Mevlene Posey of Mount Hope.

Pallbearers will be Larry Borden, Chris Cottingham, Adam Burney, Richard Burney, Joel Peoples, Steve Borden and Herschel Nolan.

Mattie Sue Coan

MOULTON -- Funeral for Mattie Sue Coan, 59, of Mount Hope will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. William Briley and the Rev. Bryan Hall officiating.

Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Coan died Friday, March 1, 2002, at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield. She was born June 25, 1942 in Lawrence County, to Lonnie Lawrimore and Frances Parker Lawrimore. She was a homemaker and a member of Cave Springs Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Clyde Coan; two sons, Dewayne Coan and Joel Coan, both of Mount Hope; two daughters, Pam Jermea of Haleyville and Sandra Wilkins of Mount Hope; two brothers, Herman Lawrimore of Mount Hope and Sherman Lawrimore of Hartselle; one sister, Lizzie Free of Hartselle; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Lawrimore, Ray Lawrimore, Heath Trapp, Phillip Lawrimore, Freddie Childs, Ronald Coan, Ronald Curry, Sammy Bean.

William Wright Cox

ATHENS -- Funeral for William Wright Cox, 63, of Athens will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Ricky Craft officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Cox died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham. He was born June 22, 1938, in Coffee County, Tenn., to Hubert and Ellen Cox. He was retired from the Limestone County Sign Department and was the brother of the late Thomas Lee Kemp.

Survivors include one stepdaughter, Teresa Lynn Tarwater of Athens; three sisters, Ruth Patterson of Toney, Sarah Hodges of Athens and Geraldine Perry of East Limestone; and two step-grandchildren.

William 'Eddie' Hood

MOULTON -- Funeral for William "Eddie" Hood, 39, of Moulton will be today at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Holy Church of Christ with the Rev. Keith Jones, the Rev. Jimmy Fuller and the Rev. Brian Hall officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church until the service begins.

Mr. Hood died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at his parents' home in Moulton. He was born Feb. 24, 1963, in Lawrence County to William Junior Hood and Helen Mae Little Hood. He was employed by BE&K Construction of Decatur as a rigger. He was the grandson of the late Odis and Minnie Hood and Sallie Maude Little.

Survivors include his wife, Michelle Meadows Hood; one son, Nicholas Hood of Russellville; one daughter, McKenzie Hood of Moulton; his parents of Moulton; one brother, Jackie Dale Hood of Moulton; and his grandfather, Grady Little of Mount Hope.

Pallbearers will be Steven Horton, Steven Borden, Jason Vess, Bill Little, Kennard Little and Gary Vess.

Bertha J. 'Mamma Bert' Hovis

ARDMORE -- Funeral for Bertha J. "Mamma Bert" Hovis, 98, of Toney will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home with the Rev. Wheeler Kidd and the Rev. Sammy Brister officiating.

Burial will be in Ford's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hovis died Friday, March 1, 2002, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Jan. 25, 1904, in Madison County, to Clint Smith and Lottie Landers Smith. She was a member of Harvest Baptist Church. She was the widow of Lee Hovis and the mother of the late Alton E. Hovis.

Survivors include two sons, Arnell Hovis of Harvest and Clinton Hovis of Toney; one daughter, Mildred Robinson of Harvest; one brother, Buford Smith of Huntsville; 10 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great great-grandchildren.

Franklin Theodore Raab

HARTSELLE -- Memorial service for Franklin Theodore Raab, 63, of Hartselle was Thursday at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Hank Smith officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Raab died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at his home. He was born Nov. 18, 1938, in Maryland, to Charles Raab and Anna Vanik Raab. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and a member of the Odd Fellows in Maryland. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ann Raab; two sons, Jonathan Jarrett of Hartselle and Steven Vest of Decatur; one daughter, Sharon Turner of Falkville; three brothers, Melvin Raab of Largo, Fla., Paul Raab of Baltimore, Md., and Don Raab of Texas; three sisters, Anna Morse of Copenhagen, N.Y., Clara Koloeziejska of Largo, Fla., and Dorothy Hiestsetter of Maryland; and two grandchildren.

Nell Elizabeth Rudd

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Mabel Othell Crowe, 77, of Decatur will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Roswell Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Blount County with the Rev. Melvin Brown officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be in the church one hour before the funeral.

Mrs. Crowe died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born July 4, 1924, in Blount County, to Starling Jackson Hopkins and Hattie Murphree Hopkins. She was the widow of Robert Lee Crowe and the mother of the late John Timothy Crowe.

Survivors include five sons, Bobby Crowe, Charles W. Crowe, Larry J. Crowe, Ricky Crowe and Gregory D. Crowe, all of Somerville; six daughters, Frances Brown, Brenda Pettey, Rita Smith, Patty Adams, Lazelle Smith and Karen Motes, all of Somerville; one sister, Velma Mount Haney of Arab; 30 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Johnson, Rusty Johnson, Lee Crowe, Wayne Crowe, Steven Crowe, Michael Smith, Jonathon Smith and Jerry Adams III.
