Sellie Terry Smith

Funeral for Sellie Terry Smith, 92, of Decatur will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Buddy Champion, the Rev. Buddy Simmons and the Rev. C.G. Reding officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Jan. 9, 1910, in Lawrence County to Elbert and Betty Terry. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was the widow of Porter Smith and the mother of the late L.B. Smith, G.C. Smith and Neil Smith.

Survivors include two sons, Felton Smith of Decatur and Don Smith of Moulton; four daughters, Opal Anderson of Columbia, Tenn., Doris Aldridge of Trinity, Anelia Faye Smith of Oneonta, and Merion Hutton of Decatur; one brother, Donald Terry of Tuscaloosa; two sisters, Ellie Todd of Jasper and Letha White of Birmingham; 21 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Roland Anderson, Mickey Smith, Kenny Anderson, Jamie Aldridge, Randy Smith, Jason Smith, Garry Smith and Chad Hutton.

James Hobson Corum

TUSCUMBIA -- Funeral for James Hobson Corum, 87, of Leighton will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Gerald Pennington officiating.

Burial will be in Morris Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Corum died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Eliza Coffey Memorial Hospital. He was born June 2, 1914, in Hillsboro to George Turner Corum and Lillian Estella McBride Corum. He was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority after 38 years of service. Mr. Corum was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Leighton Church of Christ and served as an elder and a treasurer. He also was a member of the Colbert County Memorial American Legion Post No. 31.

Survivors include his wife, Lera Frances Bryant Corum; three daughters, Frances Ann Allen of Decatur, Suellen Perry of Athens, Tenn., and Genia Elizabeth Corum of Courtland; two sisters, Bessie Lou Wells of Decatur and Hazel Ruth Peebles of Moulton; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Harrison, Scott Hollimon, Tom Holley, Elliott Rikard, Tim Mardis and Bud Johnson.

Ather Minos Feemster

HOLLY POND -- Funeral for Ather Minos Feemster, 75, of Hartselle will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Holly Pond Funeral Home with Truman Harris officiating.

Burial will be in Holly Pond Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Feemster died Friday, March 15, 2002, at his home. He was born Sept. 17, 1926, in Cullman County, to Samuel M. Feemster and Noxie Lee McCutcheon Feemster. He was retired from General Motors and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Ruth McKelroy Feemster; one son, Kevin Feemster of Hartselle; three daughters, Deborah Dabiero of Allen Park, Mich., Phyllis Schim of Saline, Mich., and Donna Feemster of Hartselle; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Janice Summers Lang

Funeral for Janice Summers Lang, 35, of Decatur will be today at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Cagle officiating.

Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

Mrs. Lang died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Aug. 14, 1966, in Morgan County to John Summers and Susan Dugger Summers. She attended Decatur High School.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn Wayne Lang; two sons, Mitchell Lee Lang and Weston Bryant, both of Decatur; her mother, of Decatur; her father and stepmother, Bonnie Summers, both of Trinity; and one sister, Janet Summers of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Jackson, Dale Roan, Jackie Summers, Barry McCulloch, Curt Prince, Terry Naremore and Brent Whitaker.

George Frank Rachel Jr.

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for George Frank Rachel Jr., 56, of Hartselle will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Harless Butner and the Rev. Morris Bates officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Rachel died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born Dec. 14, 1945, in Virginia, to George Frank Rachel Sr. and Nina Mae Hash Rachel. He was retired from Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems after 30 years and was a member of the Hartselle Church of God of Prophecy.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Rachel; three sons, Kerry Rachel and Adam Rachel, both of Hartselle, and Randy Rachel of Somerville; one daughter, Shelly Rachel of Hartselle; two sisters, Donna McClellan and Mary Auton, both of Bluefield, Va.; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Vice, Ben McClellan, Sean Auton, Jim Wyatt, Josh Auton and Garland Auton.

Florence Dessie Bowers

Funeral for Florence Dessie Bowers, 99, of Decatur will be Monday at noon at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends this afternoon from 2 to 4 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bowers died Friday, March 15, 2002, at her home. She was born April 29, 1902, in Kosciusko County, Ind., to William Mikel and Elizabeth Wagley Mikel. She was retired as a seamstress and reared her children, grandchildren and great-grandchldren. Mrs. Bowers was a member of the Baha'i faith and was the widow of Frederick Leroy Bowers.

Survivors include two sons, Earl Max Bowers of Decatur and Carl Albert Bowers of Colorado Springs, Co.; one daughter, Thelma Eileen Keplinger of Decatur; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lloyd Culp, Ron Morris, Charles Marvin, Allen Marvin and Earl Bowers.

Phillip David "Phil" Garrett

Funeral for Phillip David "Phil" Garrett, 66, of Decatur will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Fairview Baptist Church with the Rev. Walt Schmidt officiating.

Burial will be in Crossroads Cemetery in Cullman County with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Garrett died Friday, March 15, 2002, at his home. He was born Aug. 4, 1935, in Logan, W.Va., to Arden Garrett and Locelle McComas Garrett. He was retired from Wolverine Tube and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Gerry Garrett; three sons, Scott D. Garrett of Atlanta, Craig D. Garrett of Decatur and Kevin D. Garrett of Athens; three brothers, Richard Garrett of Thomaston, Ga., Fred Garrett of Proctorville, Ohio and Dan Garrett of Charlotte, N.C.; five sisters, Nancy Casey of Chapmanville, W.Va., Sally Walters of Charlotte, N.C., Eva Light of Burns, Tenn., Jane Carper of Sumpter, S.C., and Anita Roberts of Sistersville, W.Va.; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tony Harris, Bobby Thomas, Waylon Kyle, Correy Bryant, Adam Light and Jim Sparks.

Buford Malcolm Magnusson Jr.

ATHENS -- Memorial service for Buford Malcolm Magnusson Jr., 70, of Athens will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Aaron Johnson officiating and Limestone Chapel Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Magnusson died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at his home. He was born Feb. 18, 1932, in Limestone County, to Buford Malcom Magnusson Jr. and Reba Jones Magnusson.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Cook Magnusson; one daughter, Sheri Lynn Magnusson of Athens; and one granddaughter.

Kaethe I. Pitt

TRINITY -- Funeral for Kaethe I. Pitt, 77, of Decatur will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. David Bozeman officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Pitt died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Feb. 13, 1925, in Hamburg, Germany, to Otto Kroop and Amanda Poppe Kroop. She was member of St. Ann Catholic Church and retired as co-owner of Pitt's Vacuum Cleaners after 30 years.

Survivors include her husband, Calvin Pitt; two sons, Mark C. Pitt and Michael C. Pitt, both of Decatur; two daughters, Anita Tucker of Decatur and Patricia Hollis of Moulton; one brother, Hans Grunter Kroop of Hamburg, Germany; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Larry Davis, Donald Blackwood, Judson Pitt, Gerald Pitt, Jerry Brown and Jonathon Tucker.

George Franklin Rachel Jr.

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for George Franklin Rachel Jr., 56, of Hartselle will be today at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Harless Butner and the Rev. Morris Bates officiating.

Marlon Thomas Roden

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for Marlon Thomas Roden, 70, of Huntsville will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church on Marshentz Ave. with the Rev. Murray Wilton officiating.

Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Roden died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born July 19, 1931, in Danville to Thomas Roden and Olivia Roden. He was a banker and was a graduate of the Louisiana State University school of banking. Mr. Roden was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church, Huntsville Jaycees, Kiwanis Club and was active in community and civic organizations. He was the father of the late Linda Roden Simonin.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Roden; two daughters, Regina Matthews of Monrovia and Leigh Ann Johnson of Huntsville; two sisters, Francis Springer of and Mary Sharp, both of Lexington; and six grandchildren.

Shirley Joan Scott

ROGERSVILLE -- Graveside service for Shirley Joan Scott, 69, of Rogersville will be Monday at Rogersville Funeral Home with the Rev. Bertis Ray officiating.

Mrs. Scott died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital. She was born Sept. 11, 1932, in Detroit, Mich. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Lloyd A. Scott of Rogersville and Kevin J. Scott of Hamilton; one daughter, Carol M. Hayes of Decatur; four brothers, Robert Maylum and David Maylum, both of California, LeRoy Maylum of Byron, Mich., Phillip Maylum of Indiana; one sister, Betty Oehmke of Detroit, Mich.; and nine grandchildren.

Edna Earle Webb

Funeral for Edna Earle Webb, 77, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Gooch officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Webb died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at her home. She was born June 27, 1924, in Lacey Springs, to Herbert Edwards and Myrtle Edwards. She was retired from Hartford Insurance Co. and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, John F. Webb; two sons, John T. Webb of Orlando, Fla. and Mike A. Webb of Montrose, Co.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be John Webb, Hubert L. Hester, Mitchell Blackwood, David Letson, Charles Riley, Gerald Marks, DeWayne Kitchens and Keith Kitchens.

Lucy Harris Caddell

Graveside service for Lucy Harris Caddell, 88, of Decatur will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Decatur City Cemetery, with the Rev. Bradley K. Walker officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends today from 4 to 7 p.m. at 2200 Country Club Road S.E., Decatur.

Mrs. Caddell died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at her home. She was born Aug. 16, 1913, in Atlanta to Egerton Swann Harris and Lucy Frances Bowen Harris. She grew up in Mobile, where she was a member of Government Street Presbyterian Church and attended Wrights Girls' Preparatory School.

She attended The University of Alabama and was a member of Kappa Delta social sorority. She had resided in Decatur since her Sept. 1, 1935, marriage to John A. Caddell, an attorney and longtime member of The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees.

Mrs. Caddell was the last surviving charter member of the Morgan County Junior Service League, now the Junior League. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Decatur.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Thomas A. Caddell and U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Jack Caddell, both of Decatur, and Henry H. Caddell of Mobile; one daughter, Mrs. Maurice Bell of Mobile; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to favorite charities.
