Jera M. Poole

Funeral for Jera M. Poole, 62, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Neal Culberson and Ronald Puckett officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Poole died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at his home. He was born Aug. 15, 1939, in Meridian, Miss., to Jera Kester Poole and Bernice McClellan Poole. He retired from Control Data Systems Inc., where he was integration services manager and systems analyst. After retirement, he worked for Colsa Corp. as software support manager and project manager of Command Information Management Systems.

Survivors include one daughter, Rachel Roberts of Hunts- ville; his mother of Trinity; two brothers, Charles B. Poole of Biloxi, Miss., and John F. Poole of Trinity; and one sister, Jan Aschliman of Nashville.

Pallbearers will be Greg Hughes, Jim O'Hara, Ron Seibert, John Marlin, Ron Hill and Curtis Strange.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.

Fern Presley

Graveside service for Fern Presley, 92, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Rose- lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Mark Tolbert officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 3 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ms. Presley died Monday, March 18, 2002, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation of Decatur. She was born April 29, 1909, in Pocahontas, Ark., to James Wesley Presley and Mary Emma Jackson Presley. She was retired from Cobbs Allen and Hall Insurance Co., and she was a member of Central Baptist Church. She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Birmingham and Mountain Brook Baptist Church, where she participated in the music ministry and the Woman's Missionary Union and served as a Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include one sister, Fay Presley Conner of Decatur.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Ada Bittick Taylor

ATHENS -- Funeral for Ada Bittick Taylor, 95, of Decatur, formerly of Tanner, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Gooch officiating.

Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 until the service.

Mrs. Taylor died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at her home. She was born March 21, 1906, in Buford, Tenn., to Robert Lee Bittick and Mary Eta Carpenter Bittick and she moved to Tanner as a teen-ager. She was a past postmaster at the Tanner Post Office for 44 years. She was a graduate of Falls Business College in Nashville and a member of Tanner United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one sister, Susie B. Odom of Decatur; one niece, Jeanne Leaverton of Decatur; and one great-niece.

Pallbearers will be Russ Carter, Jim Halbrooks, Justin Jacobs, Charles Page Jr., Pat- rick Carter and Stanley Carter.

Willa Dean Lovell Camp
ATHENS -- Funeral for Willa Dean Lovell Camp, 77, of Anderson will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Camp died Monday, March 18, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born July 7, 1924, in Limestone County, to Marvin Phillips and Beatrice Phillips. She was a homemaker and a member of Enon Baptist Church. Mrs. Camp was the widow of Clifton Camp and Edward Lovell.

Survivors include one son, Robert Lee Lovell of Anderson; one daughter, Janice Harrison of Anderson; three stepsons, Douglas Camp of Loretto, Tenn., Charles Camp of Pulaski, Tenn., and Ricky Camp of Minor Hill, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Connie Johnson and Shelia Kelley, both of Pulaski, Tenn.; one brother, George Phillips of Belle Glade, Fla.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; and 11 step great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tom Harrison, David Bullion, Rickey Camp, Rex Davis, Mike McConnell and Gary Phillips.

Bobbie Gean Decatur

MOULTON -- Funeral for Bobbie Gean Decatur, 64, of Trinity was Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Bumgart officiating.

Burial was in Caddo Cemetery.

Mrs. Decatur died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at her home. She was born Sept. 9, 1937, in Lawrence County to Jay Conway and Icey Bumgart Conway. She was a nurse's aide and a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Rickey Decatur of Moulton; her mother, of Moulton; two brothers, Arley Smith of Trinity and Wiley Smith of Moulton; one sister, Linda Rutherford of Town Creek; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers were Leldon Lacey, David Lacey, Brady Flanagan, Eric Smith, Jamie Smith and Anthony Shelton.

Laura M. Hipps

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Laura M. Hipps, 82, of Eva will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Eva United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brady McCullough and the Rev. Phillip Robinson officiating.

Burial will be in Eva Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Ms. Hipps died Monday, March 18, 2002, at Sunshine Haven in Hartselle. She was born Oct. 19, 1919, in Morgan County to Melvin M. Hipps and Alice Cordelia Smith Hipps. She was a teacher and librarian for 40 years. Her final 20 years in education were spent at Cataco School. She was a member of Eva United Methodist Church and an Eva Public Library board member. She was the sister of the late Cecil Hipps, Mitchell Hipps, Van Hipps and Mary Culbreath. Survivors include one sister, Louise Tillery of Cold Springs, Ky.

Pallbearers will be Roland Oden, William Childers, S.D. Childers, Lee Willis, William Ellinger and Charles Frost.

Memorials may be made to the Eva Public Library.

Samantha 'Jane' Martin

MOULTON -- Funeral for Samantha "Jane" Martin, 59, of Town Creek will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Crumpton and the Rev. Tony Collins officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Martin died Tuesday, March 19, 2001, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital. She was born June 10, 1942, in Lawrence County, to Carl "Son" Davis and Juanita Terry Davis. She was a janitor at Southern Management for International Paper. She was the widow of Clifford Martin and the sister of the late Dwayne Davis and John "Pee Wee" Davis.

Survivors include one son, Randy Martin of Moulton; two stepsons, Sammy Kruithoff of Town Creek and Allen Kruithoff of California; three brothers, Billy Joe Davis and D.C. Davis, both of Town Creek, and Bud Davis of Falkville; four sisters, Edith Noble of Decatur, Bobbie Elliott and Linda Landers, both of Town Creek, and Mary "Sissy" Coan of Hatton; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Matt Borden, Shane Davis, Keith Coan, Duston Coan, Carl Davis and Tooter Davis.

Henry Lee Robinson

Funeral for Henry Lee Robinson, 79, of Decatur will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Edward Owens officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Robinson died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at Parkway Medical Center. He was born Dec. 4, 1923, in Morgan County to Henry and Julia Robinson. He was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II. He retired from Monsanto after 25 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Jennie Robinson; one son, Edward Earl Robinson of Decatur; three daughters, Anne Robinson, Cordia Brown and Mattye Sullivan, all of Decatur; one sister, Edmonia Jennings of Dayton, Ohio; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Deacons of Shiloh Missionary Baptist will be pallbearers.

Alice Walker Smith

Graveside service for Alice Walker Smith, 81, of Decatur will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Gary Patton officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Smith died Monday, March 18, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Jan. 5, 1921, in Petersburg, Va., to Edgar Walker and Nellie Johnson Walker. She was a member of Somerville Road Church of Christ. She was the mother of the late David Gene Smith.

Survivors include one daughter, Alicia S. Shelton of Decatur; one sister, Edna Hutton of Virginia; and two grandchildren.

Ruth Walker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Ruth Walker, 86, of Cullman will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. George Redding and the Rev. Steve Rodgers officiating.

Burial will be in Friendship United Methodist Church Cem- e- tery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Walker died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at Woodland Health Care Center in Cullman. She was born Sept. 9, 1915, in Marshall County to Charles Samuel McDonald and Claudia Iduma Martin McDonald. The homemaker and farmer was a member of Friendship United Meth- odist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Travis Price of Orlando, Fla., Charles Price of Hartselle and Gary Price of Vinemont; one daughter, Christine Willingham of Vinemont; one brother, Claude L. McDonald of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jason Price , Ty Bogard, Kenneth Willingham, Shaun Price , Roger Bogard and Kenn Pietrzak.

Emily Beth Woodruff

Funeral for Emily Beth Woodruff, 20, of Decatur will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Bobby Graham and Rick Davis officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Ms. Woodruff died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. She was born Feb. 6, 1982, in Decatur. She was an Austin High School graduate, played Dixie Girls softball for 10 years and was a member of Old Moulton Road Church of Christ.

Survivors include her father, Ricky Jay Woodruff of Decatur; her mother, Mary Beth Hays of Decatur; one brother, Matthew Woodruff of Decatur; two stepbrothers, Justin Hays and Jordan Hays, both of Decatur; one stepsister, Mallory Chandler of Decatur; and grandparents, Charles and Sibyl Woodruff of Decatur and Fred Linley of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Brandon McCravy, Blake Casteel, Danny McCafferty, Ben Chandler, Jeff Simpson and R.J. McKee.

Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society.

Carl Hammond Bennett
CULLMAN -- Funeral for Carl Hammond Bennett, 79, of Battleground will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Gable and the Rev. Steve Brown officiating.

Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Bennett died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at his home. He was born Dec. 29, 1922, in Morgan County to Radford Bennett and Chloe Miller Bennett. He retired from Nicholson File. He was a deacon at Macedonia Baptist Church for 46 years and a member of West Point Masonic Lodge No. 758. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Humphries Bennett; two sons, Perry Bennett of Battleground and Eric Bennett of Sevierville, Tenn.; three daughters, Sharon Walker of Hartselle, Karen Holland of Falkville and Paula Brown of Gardendale; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Martelia Sue Tubb Dobbs

HALEYVILLE -- Graveside service for Martelia Sue Tubb Dobbs, 82, of Haleyville was to be today at noon at Hillcrest Cemetery with David Howell officiating and Pinkard Funeral Home of Haleyville directing.

Mrs. Dobbs died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence. She was a lifelong resident of this area, a member of Ninth Avenue Church of Christ. She was the grandmother of the late John-Adams Cockerham Dobbs and the mother-in-law of the late Mary Cockerham Dobbs and H.E. "Buddy" Langston.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Elwyn Dobbs Sr. of Haleyville; two sons, Thomas Elwyn "Wyn" Dobbs Jr. of Winfield and Walker Nathaniel Dobbs of Haleyville; one daughter, Ethelwyn Haley Dobbs Langston of Winfield; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
