Funeral for VaNell T. Childers, 76, of Falkville was Sunday, September 5, at 3:00 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Wayne Vincent and Keith Whitley officiating.
Burial was in Cook Cemetery.
Mrs. Childers died Thursday, September 2, 1999, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Morgan County and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was the widow of Brady Childers and the mother of the late Steve Childers.
She is survived by three sons, Greg Childers and Keith Childers, both of Hartselle, and Anthony Childers of Falkville; one daughter, Suzanne Childers of Hartselle; one stepson, Lewis Childers of Sanford, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Betty Eastham and Dorothy Childers, both of Sanford; three brothers, Fletcher Turney of Athens, Bobby Turney of Hartselle and Kay Turney of Tennessee; five sisters, Dorothy Parsons of Oden Ridge, Mildred McNutt and Vivian Vest, both of Hartselle, Hazel Murphy and Dean Smith, both of Falkville; 17 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Connie Walling, Johnny Keith Childers, Randy Childers, Ray Miller, Terry Miller and James Shaffer.
William J. (Chubby) Charles, Jr.
Funeral for William J. (Chubby) Charles, Jr., 72, of Decatur was Friday, September 3, at 2:00 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Revs. Joe Hoover and J.B. Snyder officiating.
Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Charles died Wednesday, September 1, 1999 at Decatur General Hospital. He was a native of Morgan County and a lifelong member of Sixteenth Avenue Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and at times served as minister of music.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was retired from Valley Products Company, Inc. after 33 years as sales manager and chief executive officer.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Charles of Decatur; one son, Billy Charles of Birmingham; two daughters, Terri Watwood and Anita Crow, both of Decatur; three sisters, Cora Lou Street and Dale Brothers, both of Decatur and Mary Frances Brown of Somerville; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dr. Gerald Arney, Bob Barnett, Michael Street, Andy Street, Stanley Maner and Charles Watwood.
Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Sixteenth Avenue Baptist Church.

A graveside service for Hubert Andrew Brown, 79, of Hartselle was Tuesday, October 26, at 2:00 p.m. at Johnson Chapel Cemetery with the Revs. Thomas E. Elder officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Brown died Saturday, October 23, 1999, at Falkville Healthcare Center. He was a native of Lawrence County and the brother of the late J.D. Brown and Russell Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Erie Izola Brown of Hartselle; two sons, James Howell Brown and Windel Andrew Brown, both of Hartselle; one daughter, Annie Devires of Kalamazoo, Mich.; two brothers, Elmer Brown and Robert Brown, both of Hartselle; three sisters, Ruby George of Winchester, Tenn., and Mavene Holt and Ruth Wallace, both of Hartselle; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Stanley George, Randy George, Gary George, Larry Brown, Donnie Brown and Truman Wallace.
Leonard Hobson Ward

Funeral for Leonard Hobson Ward, 95, of Falkville Healthcare Center in Falkville was Wednesday, October 27, at 1:00 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Drinkard officiating.
Burial was in Gum Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Ward died Monday, October 25, 1999, at his residence. He was a native of Morgan County, a retired farmer and a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church.
He is survived by six sons, Hobson Ward, Jr. and Tom Ward, both of Hartselle, Harold Ward of Falkville, Jerry Ward of Somerville, Huie Ward of Jackson, Tenn. and Ronnie Ward of Bradenton, Fla.; two daughters, Laverne Entrekin of Somerville and Mary Merkas of Hartselle; 29 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Grandsons were pallbearers.

Mrs. Carden died Friday, October 23, 1999, in Hartselle. She was a native of Morgan County and the widow of George L. Carden and the mother of the late George L. Carden, Jr., Claude Carden, Charles Carden and Max Carden.
She is survived by four sons, John Frank Carden of Falkville, Robert Howard Carden of Lampe, Mo., Billy Wayne Carden of Chicago, Ill., and Michael Carden of Orlando Park, Ill.; two daughters, Betty Ann Jacobs of New Albany, Mass., and Peggy Jean Perkey of Richmond, Va.; one sister, Mollie Davis of Fakville; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren,

Mr. Orr died Saturday, October 23, 1999, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was a native of Morgan County and a retired pipe fitter.
He is survived by his wife, Linnell Patton Orr of Falkville; one son, Robert Orr of Fairhope; three sisters, Carrie O'Bar of Hartselle and Aileen Christopher and Essie Hardison, both of Athens; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Mr. Key died Monday, October 25, 1999, at Huntsville Hospital. He was a native of Morgan County and a member of the Eagles Club in Decatur. He was a self-employed construction and plumbing worker.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Knox Key of Eva; two step-brothers, Deltis Drummond of Sipsey and Elvis Drummond of Cullman; two step-sisters, Delaine Bridier of Cordova and Nona Price of Eclectic; three nephews and two nieces.
Nephews and cousins were pallbearers.

Mrs. Archer died Saturday, October 23, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital. She was a native of Lawrence County and a member of Enon Baptist Church. She was retired from Prestolite.
She is survived by her husband, Alton E. Archer of Danville; two stepsons, Eugene Archer of Lynnville, Tenn., and Neal Archer of Mouton; two stepdaughters, Libby Thomason of Lynnville and Shelia Johnson of Danville; five brothers, Willard Way, Alton Way and Reuel Way, all of Trinity, and Howell Way and Donald Way, both of Danville; one sister, Annie Kirby of Elberton, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mike Thomason, Jeff Thomason, Scott Thomason, Lamon Way, Brian Way, Kenny Way, Terrell Way and Todd Kirby.
