PEORIA, Ill. -- Funeral for Leo Strickland, 77, of Norwood, Ill., will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel with the Rev. Arlin Claassen officiating.
Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Strickland died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at his home. He was born Feb. 26, 1922, in Double Springs to Lee F. and Callie Hill Strickland. He was a truck driver for Continental Grain for 31 years, retiring in 1979. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater; he recevied the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars and was a member of the Purple Heart Club and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of First Norwood Mennonite Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Crow; one son, Marvin Strickland of Loves Park, Ill.; one daughter, Cheryl Perry of East Peoria, Ill.; one sister, Christine Gillott of Pomona, Calif.; one brother, Waymon Strickland of Monmouth, Ill.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Minnie Rea Thompson Booth
78, retired dairy farmer
HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Minnie Rea Thompson Booth, 78, of Hartselle will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Mason Booth and the Rev. W.G. Henry officiating.
Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Booth died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, in Wilsonville. She was born July 19, 1921, in Lawrence County to Booker T. and Annie Arlo Gaskin Thompson. She was a retired dairy farmer and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Dewitt Vaughan Booth.
She is survived by one son, William Booth of Hartselle; four daughters, Sally Booth Cheatham, Pearl Booth McCarley, Lucy Booth and Annie Booth Lemons, all of Hartselle; two sisters, Willie Pearl McCowan of Hartselle and Edith Green of St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brad Cheatham, Scott McCarley, Tim Miller, Powers Teague, Kenneth Vest and Brian Winchester.
George Clyde Moats
83, Civil Service retiree
Funeral for George Clyde Moats, 83, of Decatur will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. J.B. Snyder officiating.
Masonic graveside service will be at Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Moats died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville. He was born April 28, 1916, in Lawrence County to Samuel and Cora Godsey Moats. He was a member of Sixteenth Avenue Baptist Church and retired from the U.S. Civil Service at Redstone Arsenal. He also was a member of the Loyd O. Glen Masonic Lodge 6 in Moulton for more than 50 years and a lifetime member of the Sons of the Confederacy. He served in the U.S. Army for 13 years, including World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Josephine Bolling Moats; two sons, Larry Moats and Harry Moats, both of Decatur; three daughters, Joyce Terry, Trish "Patsy" DeHart and Pam Bogle, all of Decatur; one sister, Easter Moats Terry of Moulton; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joe Bogle, Donnie Terry, Neil Moats, Steve Reid, Don Agee, Wade Hensley, Robert Watson and Brent Moats.
Members of his class at Sixteenth Avenue Baptist Church will be honorary pallbearers.

William Charlie Nelson

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for William Charlie Nelson, 64, of Danville will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Morland Baptist Church in Winston County with the Rev. Rex Riddle officiating.
Burial will be in Morland Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 4 p.m. Thursday until the time of the funeral.
Mr. Nelson died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Aug. 1, 1935, in Lawrence County to James and Elsie Sleatie Garrison Nelson. He was a drilling technician with Holland-Woodard Construction Co. in Winston County. He was the the father of the late Brenda Faye Nelson and the brother of the late Odie Nelson and Lovis Nelson.
He is survived by two sons, Charles Nelson of Nevada and Rodger Nelson of Arizona; two daughters, Linda Faye Noble of Texas and Ann Marie Clark of Arizona; two brothers, Edward Nelson and Bobby Ray Ayers, both of Houston; one sister, Faye Key of Danville; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Smith died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Aug. 8, 1927, in Newton County, Miss., to Phil and Lola Nelson Smith. He retired as a driver for Ryder Truck Lines and was a member of Nebo Baptist Church, Esther Masonic Lodge 144, the York Rite and Scottish Rite Bodies and the Hadji Shrine Temple. He was the father of the late Bobby Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Lee E. Smith; four sons, Rick Smith and Jay Keen, both of Decatur, Ben Smith of Trinity and Lee Keen of Dothan; eight daughters, Georgiann Evans of Anna, Texas, Carol Mitchell of Birmingham, Cindy Jones of Shreveport, La., Trisha Lewis of Falkville, Caresse Pridgeon of Old Town, Fla., Lisa Shores of Alford, Fla., Wanda McKinion of Little Rock, Miss., and Ann Williams of Dothan; his mother of Collinsville, Miss.; 25 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

NORWALK, Ohio -- Memorial service for Duane D. Huntley, 77, of Norwalk, formerly of Athens, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Ephesus Church of Christ in Athens with Carl Witty officiating.Hinman-Tanner & Walker Funeral Home of Norwalk are in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Huntley died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk. He was born May 13, 1922, in Macomb, N.Y., to John Philip and Wilma Downing Huntley. He attended St. Lawrence University in New York before moving to Athens in 1979. He returned to Norwalk several months ago. Mr. Huntley was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a lay minister, songwriter, songleader and teacher. He was the brother of the late Philip Huntley and the late Thomas Huntley.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Vernice Bowers Huntley; two sons, Kurt Huntley of Georgetown, Ind., and Keith Huntley of Hanover, Ind.; three daughters, Janet Immel of North Fairfield, Ohio, and Julie Huntley and Joyce Finch, both of Norwalk; one brother, David Huntley of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Miner died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Akron General Medical Center. He was born July 6, 1930, in Morgan County to Eddie and Corine Miner. The U.S. Army veteran was founder and co-owner of M&M Sanitation and later became president and general manager of Waste Management Ohio-Akron. He and his wife had lived in Cuyahoga Falls since 1954.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Miner; three sons, Greg Miner and Jeffery Miner, both of Tallmadge, Ohio, and Eddie Miner of Ellet, Ohio; one daughter, Debi Brandy of Munroe Falls, Ohio; one brother, Robert Miner of Hartville, Ohio; two sisters, Blanche Tanner of Eva and Patricia Smith of Blountsville; and eight grandchildren.
Peggy J. Phillips

Graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham. The family will receive friends one hour before burial at Elmwood Chapel.
Mrs. Phillips died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born June 11, 1928, in Birmingham to Timon and Lillie Mahaffey Goodwin. She was retired from Austin High School, where she worked as a secretary, and also was an antique dealer. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Phillips; two sons, Steve Phillips of Decatur and Alan Phillips of Columbia, Tenn.; two sisters, Dottie Luff of Redding, Calif., and Barbara Jones of Tuscaloosa; and one grandson.

Burial will be in Courtland Cemetery with Elkins Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Mrs. Reding's home at 91 Alabama Street in Courtland.
Mrs. Reding died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at home. She was born Jan. 2, 1905, to W.A. and Cornelia Freeman Dollar near Anderson in Lauderdale County. She was a retired schoolteacher, having taught in Lawrence and Cullman counties for more than 40 years. She was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church, where she served as Sunday school superintendent for several years. She was the widow of Gideon Harris Reding.
She is survived by two daughters, Jane Spain of Florence and Connie Kleen of Virginia Beach, Va.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons and nephews will be pallbearers.
