Gary Hilrey Nethery

A memorial service for Gary Hilrey Nethery, 47, of Homewood will be Sunday, November 21, at 2:00 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church in Hartselle.
Mr. Nethery died Saturday, November 13, 1999, at University Hospital in Birmingham from injuries he sustained in a traffic accident in Birmingham on October 23. He was a native of Morgan County, a graduate of Morgan County High School (Hartselle High) and an electronics engineer with McConnell Engineering of Birmingham. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Nethery, and sister, Patricia (Pat) Nethery.
He is survived by one daughter, Amelia Nethery of Homewood; his parents, Hilery and Lois Depreast Nethery of Hartselle; one sister, Shelia Blackwood of Hartselle; and one nephew and one niece, both of Hartselle.
Thelma C. Wheeldon

Funeral for Thelma C. Wheeldon, 80, of Mt Olive, was Wednesday, November 17, at 11:00 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Gordon officiating.
Burial was in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Wheeldon died Monday, November 15, 1999, at her residence. She was a native of Delaware and a former resident of Hartselle. She was a member of West Hartselle Baptist Church, a nurse in the U.S. Navy and a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon J. Wheeldon and a daughter, Janet W. Browning.
She is survived by her son-in-law, Bobby O. Browning of Birmingham; two granddaughters; and five great grandchildren.
Leslie Cryer

Funeral for Leslie B. Cryer, 75, of Bessemer was Monday, November 15, at Brown Service Funeral Home.
Mr. Cryer died Tuesday, November 9, 1999, at his residence. He was a native of Alabama and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He served in Normandy and received three overseas bars and the Bronze Star. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
He is survived by one son, Billy Wayne Cryer of Goodwater; one daughter, Brenda Joyce Cryer of Sylacauga; five brothers, Leonard Cryer of Falkville, Leldon Cryer of Decatur, Loyd Cryer of Dallas, Tex., Johnny Cryer of Somerville and Joe Cryer of Boaz.
George Clyde Moats

Funeral for George Clyde Moats, 83, of Decatur was Thursday, November 11, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. J.B. Snyder officiating.
A Masonic graveside service followed at Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Moats died Monday, November 8, 1999, at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville. He was a native of Lawrence County and a member of 16th Avenue Baptist Church in Decatur. He was retired from Redstone Arsenal as a Civil Service employee and a member of the Lloyd O. Glen Masonic Lodge in Moulton for 50 years and a lifetime member of the Sons of the Confederacy. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army for 13 years.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Josephine Bolling Moats of Decatur; two sons, Larry Moats and Harry Moats, both of Decatur; three daughters, Joyce Terry, Trish (Patsy) DeHart and Pam Bogle, all of Decatur; one sister, Easter Moats Terry of Moulton; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joe Bogle, Donnie Terry, Neil Moats, Steve Reid, Don Agee, Wade Hensley, Robert Watson and Brent Moats.
Members of his Sunday school class at 16th Avenue Baptist Church were honorary pallbearers.
Carl Henry Edwards

Funeral for Carl Henry Edwards, 82, of Decatur was Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Brown officiating.
Burial was in New Friendship Cemetery.
Mr. Edwards died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at Huntsville Hospital. A native of Morgan County, he was a steel mill machine operator and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by one son, Larry Edwards of Decatur; and one granddaughter.
Pallbearers were Joe Edwards, James Dobies, Randy McHan, Henry Thompson and Shawn Shelton.
Ralph Wilson Maner

Burial was in Salem Cemetery.
Mr. Maner died Friday, November 5, 1999, at his residence. He was a native of Limestone County and a member of Salem United Methodist Church. He was a retired self-employed barber and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Burline R. Maner of Hartselle; one son, Randy G. Maner of Hartselle; one daughter, Rhonda Owens of Hartselle; one brother, Joe Maner of Tuscumbia; three sisters, Clendora Bowden of California, Lillian Collins of Trinity and Evelyn Fetterman of Louisville, Ky.; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Pallbearers were Brad Maner, John Maner, Scott Owens, Oscar Knox, Shane Livingston and Mark Shaneyfelt.
Houston Elmo Hastings

A graveside service for Houston Elmo Hastings, 72, of Hartselle will be Thursday, November 11, at 2:00 p.m. at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Huntsville with the Rev. Jack Redfearn officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Hastings died Tuesday, November 9, 1999, at his residence. He was a native of Pecan Gap, Tex., and a member and deacon of West Hartselle Baptist Church.
He later moved to Huntsville with his family and graduated from Lincoln High School. He received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering at Auburn University in 1951. He was employed for several years with Huntsville Utilities and retired in 1987 as power systems director for the city of Piqua, Ohio. He was a member of the board of trustees for the American Municipal Power Association of Ohio, representing the western Ohio Service Group. He was serving on Hartselle Utilities Board until his illness and was a member of the American Public Power Association's Advisory Board, representing the South Central States. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Smith Hastings of Hartselle; four sons, Carey Hastings of Morristown, Tenn., Phil Hastings of Decatur, Steven Hastings of Dallas, Tex., and Mark Hastings of Huntsville; one daughter, Wendy Hastings of Piqua; and 13 grandchildren.
Deacons of West Hartselle Baptist Church were pallbearers.
