Funeral arrangements for Charles Waymon Nichols, 55, of Decatur, who died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, at Huntsville Hospital, will be announced by Shelton Funeral Home.

Homer Clasby Pack Sr.
91, retired carpenter

ATHENS -- Funeral for Homer Clasby Pack Sr., 91, of Athens will be today at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Turner officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Pack died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, at his home. He was born Aug. 6, 1908, in Smithville, Tenn. He was a member of Northside Church of Christ and a retired carpenter for Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant.He is survived by his wife, Mildred Pettit Pack; one son, Homer C. Pack Jr. of Athens; one stepson, Franklin Blankenship of Youngstown, Fla.; one sister, Lucille Newton of Hartselle; one granddaughter; eight step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; 13 step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

Elders and deacons of Northside Church of Christ will be pallbearers.

Perlie P. Patterson
88, retired store clerk

MOULTON -- Funeral for Perlie P. Patterson, 88, of Town Creek will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Sanderson and the Rev. Wheeler Kidd officiating.

Burial will be in Providence Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.Mrs. Patterson died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 8, 1911, in Lawrence County to William Jerry and Nancy Emma Patterson. She was a retired store clerk. She was the sister of the late Albert Patterson, W.A. "Buster" Patterson and Fannie Patterson.

She is survived by two brothers, Bob Patterson of Aberdeen, Miss., and Alton "Lank" Patterson of Biloxi, Miss.

Cousins will be pallbearers.

Juanita Love Crowell
83, homemaker
TRUSSVILLE -- Graveside service for Juanita Love Crowell, 83, of Decatur, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Jefferson Memorial Gardens with Lester Robinson officiating and Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Crowell died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Haralson Nursing Home in Bremen, Ga. She was born April 17, 1916, in Baltimore to Charlie Bell Love and Susie Augusta Hoskins Love. She lived most of her life in Birmingham and spent the past few years in Decatur. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Decatur. She was the widow of Lawrence Crowell and the mother of the late Peggy Jean Engle Barrett and Philip Wayne Engle.

She is survived by two daughters, Sue Drake of Decatur and Barbara Green of Trussville; one sister, Loris Suite of Bethesda, Md.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Magic Moments for Children at University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham.

Leslie Cryer
75, World War II veteran

BESSEMER -- Funeral for Leslie Cryer, 75, of Bessemer was Monday at Brown Service Funeral Home.

Mr. Cryer died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at his home. He was born Dec. 20, 1923, in Alabama. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Normandy. He received three overseas bars and the Bronze Star. He was a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church.

He is survived by one son, Billy Wayne Cryer of Goodwater; one daughter, Brenda Joyce Cryer of Sylacauga; five brothers, Leonard Cryer of Falkville, Leldon Cryer of Decatur, Loyd Cryer of Dallas, Texas, Johnny Cryer of Somerville and Joe Cryer of Boaz.

ATHENS -- Funeral arrangements for James Lewis Day, 83, of Athens, who died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Athens-Limestone Hospital, will be announced by Spry Funeral Home.

Ann R. Duffala

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- Memorial service for Ann R. Duffala, 56, of Fayetteville, Ga., was to be tonight at 7:30 at Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home.

Mrs. Duffala died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, in Atlanta. She was born March 1, 1943, in Sheboygan, Wis. She was a graduate of North High School in Sheboygan and attended Lake Forest College and Lakeland College, where she was the first woman to make the men's golf team. She worked as a ticket agent for American Air Lines in New York and Chicago and then worked as the principal's secretary at Booth Middle School in Peachtree City. She later worked at Century 21 Southern Crescent Realty in Fayetteville and then as a patient representative for Fayette Medical Center. She has relatives in Decatur.

She is survived by her husband, Colin J. "Duffy" Duffala; one son, Robert Emil Duffala of Fayetteville; one brother, Robert "Bob" Riddell of Chatham, Mass.; and one sister, Mary Kohler of Sheboygan, Wis.

Vera Campbell Gray
91, store clerk

MOULTON -- Funeral for Vera Campbell Gray, 91, of Moulton was to be today at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with James Long officiating and Elliott Funeral Home directing.

Burial was to be in Courtland City Cemetery.

Mrs. Gray died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at National Health Care in Moulton. She was born Aug. 2, 1908, in Texas to Caleb and Linnie Campbell. She was raised in Colbert County but resided for the past 40 years in Courtland. She was a store clerk, a member of First United Methodist Church of Courtland and Eastern Star. She also volunteered for civic activities in Courtland. She was the widow of John Wade Gray.

She is survived by one stepdaughter, Edna Knowles of Kinewick, Wash.; and two step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be John Givens, Harmon Hazel, Jerome Jaggers, Prentis Morris, Jimmy Williams and Travis Williams.

Frances Tomlinson Haney
94, retired registered nurse

HOMEWOOD -- Funeral for Frances Tomlinson Haney, 94, of Homewood was to be today at 10 a.m. at Ridout's Valley Funeral Home with the Rev. David Wallace officiating.

Burial will be in Falkville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Haney died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at her home. She was born Oct. 14, 1905, in Falkville, to Arthur Tomlinson and Louisa Teague Tomlinson. She was a registered nurse, retired from Children's Hospital of Alabama. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Birmingham, United Methodist Women, the Bethany Sunday school class, Salvation Army Auxiliary and Association of Retired Citizens. She was the widow of J. Craig Haney.

She is survived by one son, J. Craig Haney Jr. of Birmingham; one daughter, Lujane Haney of Birmingham; two sisters, Sarah T. Gardner of Dothan and Elizabeth T. Mason of Union Springs; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.

Francis Marie Hill

Mrs. Hill died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Parkway Medical Center Hospital. She was born Oct. 20, 1930, in Morgan County, to Walter Stone and Pauline Parker Stone. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was the mother of the late Allen Hill.

She is survived by her husband, Van B. Hill; two sons, Kenneth Wayne Hill and Tony Michael Hill, both of Decatur; two daughters, Margie Ellen Rogers and Jean Hammack, both of Decatur; two sisters, Brenda Stone and Joyce Russell, both of Decatur; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Frank Hill, Rodney Hammack, Jason Staggs, Dennis Holmes, Johnny Hopper and Donald Pace.

Ruby Bernice Lindsey

FRENCH LICK, Ind. -- Funeral for Ruby Bernice Lindsey, 65, of Decatur will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Brosmer and Drabing Funeral Home in French Lick, Ind.

Burial will be in Crystal Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:30 to 9 at the funeral home. Shelton Funeral Home is handling local arrangements.

Mrs. Lindsey died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Parkway Medical Center Hospital. She was born Jan. 18, 1934, in Duboise, Ind., to Acie Cooper and Pearl Goodman Cooper.

She is survived by her husband, Albert Lindsey; two sons, Albert Theron Lindsey of Hammond, La., and David Montgomery Lindsey of Decatur; one daughter, Sheri Anna Lindsey of Charlottesville, Va.; three brothers, Kenneth Cooper of Duboise and James Cooper and Clifford Cooper, both of Paoli, Ind.; one sister, Wilma Jane Jones of Paoli; and eight grandchildren.

Thomas 'Pete' McCutcheon
69, retired U.S. Army

HARTSELLE -- Military funeral for Thomas "Pete" McCutcheon, 69, of Hartselle will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Lindsey Herndon and Bob Csikos officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. McCutcheon died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born May 23, 1930, in Morgan County to Sam Jones and Gladys Elizabeth Higdon McCutcheon.

He joined the U.S. Army in 1949. After serving at various posts in the United States, he went to Korea in 1951 where he served in the 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division until 1952. He re-enlisted in the Alabama Army National Guard in 1953 with Company C 1343rd Engineering Battalion in Hartselle.

He started to work as the unit administrator in 1954 and was promoted to first sergeant in 1960. He retired as unit administrator in 1986 to return to active duty as the National Guard liaison at Fort McClellan as well as work with the Alabama National Guard operations in South America and Central America. He retired from active military service in 1990.

He was a member of Central Christian Church in Hartselle.

He is survived by his wife, Katie McCutcheon; two sons, Thomas Wesley McCutcheon of Hartselle and Jeffery Gene McCutcheon of Fort Payne; one daughter, Karla Buffington of Burbank, Calif.; two brothers, Bill McCutcheon of Birmingham and Gene McCutcheon of Decatur; two sisters, Juanita Pitts of Chicago and Frances Williams of Burnsville, Miss; and six grandchildren.
