Funeral for Rodney Hillard Burney, 40, of Vinemont was Tuesday, June 30, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in Cross Roads Cemetery in Cullman County.
Mr. Burney died Sunday, June 28, 2009. He was born March 6, 1969, in Cullman County to James Burney and Elizabeth Harper Burney. He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Harper Burney of Cullman; three brothers, Tommy Joe Burney of Vinemont, Jaimie Meon Burney of Cullman and David Michael Burney; and two sisters, Carolyn Ann Williams and Sherry Marie Mikeal, both of Cullman.
Pallbearers were Wayne Beasley, Frankie Massey, Jeff Massey, Bill Horton and Blake Horton.

Edna Mae Blevins
June 28, 2009
A memorial service for Edna Mae Blevins, 56, of Montgomery was Wednesday, July 1, at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Mrs. Blevins died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. She was born December 1, 1952, in North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Ezra Blevins.
She is survived by two sons, Jesse Edward Blevins of Selma; Alexander Ezra Blevins of Prattville; a daughter, Cassandra Jean Blevins of Selma; a sister, Sandra Ivey of Deatsville; and her mother, Wilma Jean Wallace Venable.

Austin Melson
June 22, 2009
Funeral for Austin Melson, 14, of Hartselle was Thursday, June 25, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Francis Proctor officiating.
Burial was in Owens Cemetery in Lawrence County.
Austin died Monday, June 22, 2009, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born July 19, 1994, in Morgan County. He was a honor student at Danville Middle School and played football on the junior varsity team. He loved the outdoors. He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Barbara Williams.
He is survived by his mother, Bridget Melson of Hartselle; his fathers, Chris Hamilton and James Hill; his stepfather, Jeff Wynn of Hartselle; a brother, Jeffrey Wynn Jr. of Hartselle; grandparents, Bobby and Kay Melson, Frankie and Rosalee Legg and Jennie Hawkins; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers were Justin Hannah, Brandon Hatfield, Corey Melson, Chris Seals, Shane Sieweke and J.D. Wynn.

Audrie Belle Weaver Heaps
June 25, 2009
Funeral for Audrie Belle Weaver Heaps, 75, of Falkville was Saturday, June 27, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Partridge officiating.
Burial was in Shiloh Cemetery in Lawrence County.
Mrs. Weaver died Thursday, June 25, 2009, at her residence. She was born June 29, 1933, in Lawrence County to John B. Weaver and Lila Belle Folsom Weaver. She was retired from Pineview Hospital as a dietician. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Birdie Victoria Weaver Parker, Trudie Gertrude Weaver Kelso, Francis Weaver Johnson and Gracie Mae Weaver; three brothers, William David Weaver, John Austin Weaver and Curtis Lee Weaver; and an unnamed baby.
She is survived by a son, Waymon Lee Heaps and wife Debra Lynn Fry Heaps of Hartselle; a daughter, Jane Levon Heaps James and husband Freddie D. James of Falkville; three sisters, Iler Faye Weaver Heaps and Icle Day Weaver Gist, both of Moulton and Evie Jane Weaver Vinson of Speake; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Randy Parker, Tim James, Corey Atkins, Anthony James, Waymon Lee Heaps Jr. and Jimmy Heaps.

Rev. John Tolan Whitten
June 28, 2009
Funeral for Rev. John Tolan Whitten, of Oneonta (formerly of Morgan County), was Wednesday, July 1, at 10:30 a.m. at Forrest Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Vandon Windsor, Dorsey Walker and Bert Goodwin officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Rev. Whitten died Sunday, June 28, 2009. He was born February 10, 1927, in Morgan County to Mose Grady Whitten and Beulah Irene Crowe Whitten.
He was educated in Morgan County schools, attended Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science, Athens College and Emory-Candler School of Theology. He entered the ministry from Hartselle First United Methodist Church in 1958. His appointments included Neel Charge, Tanner UMC, Courtland, Walnut Grove/Ebeneezer, Walnut Grove/Altoona, Section/Dutton, Valley Head/White Hall, Alabama City, Randall’s Chapel, Propst Memorial UMC and West AL Cooperative Ministries-WACOM. Prior to entering the ministry he served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. He worked for 12 years at Peck Funeral Home. During his ministry he served 22 years as Camp Counselor and Director of Jr. High and Elementary Camping at Camp Sumatanga, five years on the Governor’s Advisory Board for Volunteers in Alabama and eight years as a boardmember for C.A.S.A. He was a member of many civic organizations. He was preceded in death by a daughter by marriage, Diane Hosey.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Frances Whitten of Oneonta; two sons, Ricky Joe Whitten and wife Betty of Sylacauga and Michael Whitten and wife Dixie of Tuscaloosa; a son by marriage, Michael Shufflebarger and wife Myra of Carrollton; a son-in-law by marriage, Randall Hosey of Pinson; two sisters, Helen Jose of Waterford, Mich. and Lazelle Ferris and husband Richard of Edison, N.J.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Camp Sumatanga, 3616 Sumatanga Road, Gallant, AL 35972.

Thomas Wayne Maples

Funeral for Thomas Wayne Maples, 52, of Hartselle was Tuesday, June 23, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Lee officiating.
Mr. Maples died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at his residence. He was born September 7, 1956, in Morgan County to Barney and Edna Owens Maples. He was a nurse and a member of the Alabama State Board of Nursing. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Barney Maples Jr. and James Maples; and two sisters, Jewel Whitehead and Annette Maples.
He is survived by his former wife and friend, Winda Maples; a daughter, Lauren Paige Maples of Cullman; a brother, Bobby Maples of Hartselle; and four sisters, Martha Turney and husband Howard of Falkville, Shirley McCurry and husband Roy, Edna Lawrence and husband Oscar and Doris Blankenship and husband Tommy, all of Hartselle.
Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Holmes, McClain Holmes, Garrett Holmes, Ricky Holmes, George Waddell, Billy Lawrence, Nick Lawrence and Tommy Blankenship.

Rachel W. Long

Funeral for Rachel W. Long, of Hartselle, was Thursday, June 18, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Juston Ward and Tom Campbell officiating.
Burial was in Johnson Chapel Cemetery in Danville.
Mrs. Long died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born in Morgan County to Walter E. Ward and Vera Cox Ward. She was a member of Forrest Chapel Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raythal D. Long and her parents.
She is survived by a son, Gary A. Long and wife Tina of Danville; a brother, Rewis Ward of Gadsden; and two grandchildren, Christopher B. Long and Emily B. Long.
Pallbearers were Jason Skinner, Craig Skinner, Dale Long, Bill Marshall, Steve Kelsoe and Medford Long.
Honorary pallbearers were Russell Montgomery, Buey Long and Chris Long.
