Rev. Elton Finis Jones

Funeral for the Rev. Elton Finis Jones, 88, of Chattanooga, Tenn., was Friday, February 4, at 7:00 p.m. at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with the Revs. Dale Gilbert, Charles Lippse, Harry Synder, Brent Hall, Chris Carter and Drs. Ralph Mohney and Charles Turkington officiating.
Burial was on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Sullins Cemetery in Athens, Tenn., with Heritage Funeral Home directing.
The Rev. Jones died Tuesday, February 1, 2000, at his residence. He was a native of Morgan County, a graduate of Falkville High School and a retired minister in the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church with a ministry spanning more than 65 years. After graduating from high school, he declined a football scholarship offer by the University of Alabama to pursue a calling to the ministry. He attended Fletcher College in Iowa and Asbury Theological Seminary in Kentucky, where he earned a divinity degree in 1938.
His pastorates included seven churches in the Pulaski Circuit, Trinity UMC of Big Stone Gap, Va.; First UMC of Cleveland, Tenn., Asbury UMC of Greenville; Central UMC of Knoxville; Mayfair UMC of Kingsport; Red Bank UMC, Wesley Memorial UMC and Eastdale UMC, all of Chattanooga. Her served terms on the boards of trustees of Emory & Henry College, Hiwassee College and Tennessee Wesleyan College. In 1960, he participated in a pulpit exchange, spending three months in New Zealand. He was a guest speaker at numerous revivals and camp meetings, including Hartselle Camp Meetings. He also led 25 visits to the Holy Land and make it possible for 25 young ministers to experience the Holy Land. He also exchanged 55 rotary flags on a world tour in 1950.
His success as a fisherman was almost legendary as he frequently treated entire congregations to fish fries. He was an avid woodworker, giving away thousands of cedar communion cups and crosses which he crafted in his home workshop.
His wife, and partner of 63 years, Ruth King Jones of Chattanooga; three daughters, Eleanor Jones- Payton of Chattanooga and Judy J. Sullins and Karen Siklosi, both of Athens, Tenn.; one son, Dr. Stanley Jones of Fairview, N.C.; five grandchildren; and one great grandson survive him.
Pallbearers were Stan Jones, Dr. Trey Sullins, Stuart Sullins, Dave Siklosi, Don Anderson and Steve Brothers.
Mary Lydia Thompson

Funeral for Mary Lydia Thompson, 80, of Hartselle will be Thursday, February 10, at 3:00 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Billy Gene Ryan, Wally Blackman and Calvin Inman officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Thompson died Tuesday, February 8, 2000, at Sunbridge Convalescent Center in Decatur. She was a native of Morgan County and a member of East Highland Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and the widow of Edward Thompson.
She is survived by one son, Gary Thompson of Decatur; one daughter, Linda Thompson Newman of Hartselle; one brother, Van Ryan of Hueytown; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and two step grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tim Clanton, Wendell Green, Roger Ryan, Don Sandlin, Ricky Anderson and Billy Cary.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mt. Zion Cemetery Fund.
Bobby Alexander

Funeral for Bobby Alexander, 55, of Hartselle will be Thursday, February 10, at 1:00 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Minter officiating.
Burial will be in Old Liberty Cemetery in Lawrence County.
Mr. Alexander died Tuesday, February 8, 2000 at Decatur General Hospital. He was a native of Lawrence County, disabled and a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Alexander of Hartselle; one son, Keith Alexander of Courtland, two daughters, Sherri Smith of Danville and Shane Newman of Trinity; five brothers, Arthur Gene Alexander of Moulton, Kenneth Alexander and J.T. Alexander, both of Lafayette, Indiana; Roy Alexander of Decatur and Jerry Wayne Alexander of Moulton; four sisters, Hazel Terry of Courtland, Pauline Owen of Moulton, Yvonnia (Poochie) Alexander of Decatur and Martha Mayfield of Cullman; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary Montgomery, Mickey Newman, José Ochoa, Randy Shaddrix, Allen Smith, Ricky Terry and Allen Tipper.
Douglas Holloway

Funeral for Douglas Holloway, 83, of Hartselle was Wednesday, February 2, at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Taylor officiating.
Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Mr. Holloway died Monday, January 31, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center in Decatur. He was a native of Lawrence County and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. He was owner of the former Holloway's Barbecue in Hartselle.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Holloway of Hartselle; two sons, Donnie Wray Holloway and Harold Wayne Holloway, both of Hartselle; three daughters, Kathrine Gardner of Danville; Ann Raley and Pam Self, both of Hartselle; 21 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
Grandsons were pallbearers.

Funeral for Lacy Clark, 92, of Decatur will be Thursday, February 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eldridge Criscoe officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery near Morgan City.
Mr. Clark died Tuesday, February 1, 2000, at Falkville Health Care Center. He was a native of Madison County and a self-employed farmer. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by three sons, Leslie Clark of Decatur, Billy Van Clark of Hartselle and Ken Clark of Priceville; one daughter, Monta Ellis of Huntsville; one brother, Steve Hester of Arab, 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Myrtie Lee (Snooks) Thomas

Funeral for Myrtie Lee (Snooks) Thomas, 69, of Falkville was Monday, January 31, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams-McCracken Funeral Home with the Rev. J.W. Hicks officiating.
Burial was in Bell Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Thomas died Thursday, January 27, 2000, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Cullman County and a supervisor at King Edward Cigar Co. She was the sister of the late John B. Cobb, Stella Mae Thomas, Lorene Cobb and Catherine Bivins and the grandmother of the late Shane Davis.
She is survived by her husband, Robert H. Thomas of Falkville; one daughter, Joan Davis of Vinemont; five sisters, Ellene Moore of Greensboro, N.C., Doris Banks of Falkville, Dorothy Speegle of Crane Hill, Christene Garner of Lancaster S.C. and Barbara McDonald of Priceville; and two grandchildren.

Burial was in the Evans Family Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Evans died Friday, January 28, 2000, at Baptist Medical Center-Princeton in Birmingham. She was a native of Cullman County and a member of Falkville First United Methodist Church. She was admitting clerk at Woodland Community Hospital in Cullman.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Evans of Falkville; two daughters, Melanie Evans Molzof and Susan Evans Goggins, both of Falkville; one brother, Edgar Leon Graham of New Orleans, La.; one sister, Emma Lucille Santi of Cullman; and one granddaughter.
Pallbearers were Jerry Smith, Gary Shoemaker, Elvie Vest, James Trakel, Albert Molzof and Wayne Goggins.
