Paul Miller
January 9, 2000

Funeral for Paul Miller, 80, of Eva was Tuesday, January 11, at Westside Baptist Church in Eva with the Revs. Lester Veal and Clyde Ledlow officiating.
Burial was in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Miller died Sunday, January 9, 2000, at his residence. He was a native of Blount County and a member of Westside Baptist Church in Eva. He was retired from Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville as a Civil Service employee and the widower of Ozell Clemons Miller. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by four daughters, Carolyn Holmes, Linda Morgan and Ginger Cobbs, all of Eva, and Anne Blackmon of Arab; one brother, Andrew Miller of Baileyton; one sister, Vera Mae Haney of Cullman; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dennis Holmes, Donald Holmes, Dustin Cobbs, Adam Cobbs, Jason Blackmon and Chad Blackmon.

Callie Marie Spivey
January 9, 2000

Funeral for Callie Marie Spivey, 85, of Decatur was Tuesday, January 11, at 11:00 a.m. at Westside Community Church in Hartselle with the Rev. Michael Gunter officiating.
Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Spivey died Sunday, January 9, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was a native of Lawrence County and a member of Westside Community Church. She was the widow of Benjamin Olan Spivey and the mother of the late Guy Spivey and Oleane McMillian.
She is survived by one grandson, Jimmy McMillian of Hartselle; three granddaughters, Vickie Moore and Kathy Henley, both of Decatur, and Charlene Collins of Hartselle; five great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Don Buffkin, Bill Harris, Tony Howard, Jimmy Riddle, Edward Spivey and Dwight Tankersley.

Margaret Etta Sanders
January 5, 2000

A graveside service for Margaret Etta Sanders, 78, of Decatur was Friday, January 7, at 2:00 p.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Smothers officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Sanders died Wednesday, January 5, 2000, at Sunbridge Care & Rehabilitation Center in Decatur. She was a native of Morgan County and a member of Parkway Baptist Church. She was a former licensed practical nurse.
She is survived by three sons, Joe Mark Sanders of Somerville; Jerry Wayne Sanders and Hugh Lynn Sanders, both of Decatur; one brother, Joe Sandlin of Ohio; two sisters, Virginia Sandlin of Florida; and Wanda Sandlin of Michigan; and five grandchildren.

Adelia Gillespie Hill
January 2, 2000

Funeral for Adelia Gillespie Hill, 97, of Decatur was Wednesday, January 5, at 1:00 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Neal Culberson officiating.
Burial was in Caddo Cemetery.
Mrs. Hill died Sunday, January 2, 2000, at Sunbridge Rehabilitation Center in Decatur. She was a native of Lawrence County and a United Methodist. She was retired from the Michigan Department of Civil Service as a nurse.
She is survived by three sons, Kermit Hill of Decatur, Lovis Hill of Somerville and Eugene Hill of Toney; three daughters, Helen Schooler of Ypsilanti, Mich., Opal Terry of Trinity and Naomi Jahr of St. Pete Beach, Mich.; three brothers, Almon Gillespie of Lebanon, Tenn., Thomas Gillespie of Nashville, Tenn., and Floyd Gillespie of Belleville, Mich; 22 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.
Grandsons and granddaughters were pallbearers.

Mary Christine Montgomery
January 9, 2000

Funeral for Mary Christine Montgomery, 83, of Moulton was Tuesday, January 11, at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jackie Shelton officiating.
Burial was in Montgomery Cemetery with Elliott Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Montgomery died Sunday, January 9, 2000, at National Health Care. She was a native of Lawrence County and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was retired from Moulton Elementary School, where she worked as a cafeteria employee.
She is survived by one son, Don Montgomery of Birmingham; four daughters, Doris Frost of Eva, Willine Legg and Gayle Porter, both of Moulton, and Vicki Mosley of Decatur; one brother, J.D. Armor of Muscle Shoals; two sisters, Lucy Dean Preston of Moulton and Pauline Parker of Florence; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.
Grandsons were pallbearers.

Willie Marvin Hitt
January 5, 2000

Funeral for Willie Marvin Hitt, 90, of Trinity was Saturday, January 8, at 2:00 p.m. at Caddo Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. Greg Standridge officiating.
Burial was in Caddo Cemetery with Parkway Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Hitt died Wednesday, January 5, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was a native of Lawrence County and a retired ginner.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Hitt of Trinity; three sons, Billy Hitt of California, and Windell Hitt and Jimmy Hitt, both of Trinity; six daughters, Dorothy Stephenson of Hartselle, Barbara Copeland and Jackie O'dell, both of Town Creek, Scharline Yarbrough and Carol Roden, both of Trinity, and Patricia Lybrand of Buford, Ga.; four sisters, Christine Campbell, Wanda Terry, Bell Tucker and Maggie Mae Crow, all of Trinity; 23 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jamey Copeland, Ronnie O'Dell, Shane Hitt, Bradley Roden, Michael Davis and Lee Hitt.

Goldie Elizabeth Nicholson
January 8, 2000

Funeral for Goldie Elizabeth Nicholson, 86, of Huntsville, formerly of Hartselle, was Tuesday, January 11, at 11:00 a.m. at Priceville Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Hunt officiating.
Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Nicholson died Saturday, January 8, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. She was a native of Collinsville and the mother of the late Davon Nicholson and sister of the late Christine Cleckler. She was a member of Hopewell Homemakers in Hartselle since 1981 and was selected Morgan County Club Woman of the Year in 1992.
She is survived by one son, Ben Nicholson of Huntsville; two daughters, Delores Cooper of Houston and DeAnna Fowler of Huntsville; one brother, James M. Hayes of Whitwell, Tenn.; one sister, Frances Curtis of Rossville, Ga.; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
