Myrtle J. Hodgens

A graveside service for Myrtle J. Hodgens, 93, of Hartselle was Monday, April 3, at 10:00 a.m. at Grant Freehome Cemetery with the Rev. John Elliott officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Hodgens died Friday, March 31, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. She was a native of Marshall County and a Baptist.
She is survived by one daughter, Marie Harmon of Hartselle; one grandchild; and one great grandchild.

Mary Elizabeth Ann Smith
March 31, 2000

Funeral for Mary Elizabeth Ann Smith, 40, of Hartselle was Sunday, April 2, at 1:00 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Summerford officiating.
Burial was in Oden Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith died Friday, March 31, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was a native of Morgan County and a retired clerk for Vulcan Materials.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Wayne Smith of Hartselle; two sons, Timmy Smith of Jacksonville, Fla., and John Smith of Hartselle; one daughter, Rhonda Kennedy of Falkville; her father, Curtis Blankenship of Falkville; three brothers, Sammy Blankenship and Jack Blankenship, both of Falkville; and Mike Blankenship of Battleground; two sisters, Mary Margarette Kennedy of Biloxi, Miss. and Ruth Ann Black of Hanceville; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tommy Black, Sammy Blankenship, Tony Blankenship, Anthony Bunch, Joe Harris, Billy Kennedy and Mike Blankenship.

JoAnn Smith
March 28, 2000

Funeral for JoAnn Smith, 48, of Falkville was Friday, March 31, at 11:00 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Davis Carroll officiating.
Burial was in Leggtown Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at her residence. She was a native of Atlanta, Ga., and a retired setup operator for Parker Hannifin Corp.
She is survived by one son, Cory Phillips Smith of Falkville; three brothers, Milas Norwood, Doug Norwood and Joel R. Norwood, all of Athens; and two sisters, Nelda Wooten and Norma Rogers, both of Athens.
Pallbearers were Steven Norwood, David Norwood, James McNatt, Josh McNatt, Jason McNatt and Jamie McNatt.

Basken (Nub) Bennett
April 3, 2000

Funeral for Basken (Nub) Bennett, 82, of Falkville was Wednesday, April 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry McElroy officiating.
Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Bennett died Monday, April 3, 2000, at his residence. He was a native of Morgan County and a retired electrician. He was a World War II veteran who received the Purple Heart and a member of Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by two brothers, Tom Bennett and Billy Bennett, both of Eva; and two sisters, Eloise Brandon of Leeds and Maxine Den of Eva.
VFW members were pallbearers.

Bud Collins
March 31, 2000

Funeral for Bud Collins, 75, of Eva was Monday, April 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Wray officiating.
Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens.
Mr. Collins died Friday, March 31, 2000, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Morgan County and owner and operator of Bud Collins Logging.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Collins of Eva; three sons, Bobby W. Collins, Sr. and Timothy South, both of Eva, and Douglas Keel of Hartselle; three daughters, Phyllis Keel of Hartselle, and Susan South and Peggy Collins, both of Eva; three brothers, Samuel Collins of Litchfield, Ohio, Charles Collins of Milwaukee, Wis., and Billy Joe Collins of Somerville; three sisters, Catherine Bryant of Somerville, Lucille Sims of Hartselle and Maggie Bahr of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Pallbearers were Larry Bryant, Scott Collins, Steve Collins, Jessie Dunn, Ricky Partain, Danny Sims and R.E. Vaughn.

Harry A. Balch
April 3, 2000

Funeral for Harry A. Balch, 73, of Valhermoso Springs was Wednesday, April 5, at 2:00 p.m. at Valhermoso Springs Holiness Church with the Revs. Melvin Brown and Don Trosper officiating.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Balch died Monday, April 3, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. He was a native of Madison County and a member and deacon of Valhermoso Springs Holiness Church. He was a retired supply manager for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration in Huntsville and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by two sons, David M. Balch of Arab and H. Douglas Balch of Harvest; two daughters, Bonnie J. Balch of Valhermoso Springs and Sharon I. Roberson of Somerville; one brother, Roscoe Balch of Huntsville; one sister, Edith Jones of Harvest; and six grandchildren survive him.

Hardison McWilliams, Jr.
March 28, 2000

Funeral for Hardison McWilliams, Jr., 54, was Saturday, March 31, at 3:00 p.m. at Shackleford Funeral Home in Collinwood, Tenn., with the Rev. Thomas Elder officiating.
Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Roselawn Funeral Home handled local arrangements.
Mr. McWilliams died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. He was a native of Union City, Ind., and was employed by Chrysler Corp. for 31 years.
He is survived by his wife Katherine McWilliams of Decatur; one son, Kenneth McWilliams of Decatur; one daughter, Kimberly Vest of Hartselle; one brother, Tommy McWilliams of Northville, Mich.; two sisters, Peggy Moore and Kathy Henson, both of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.
