Funeral for Cecil E. Ross, 70, of Somerville was Friday, March 3, at 2:00 p.m. at Kings Valley Chapel Funeral Home in Oneonta with the Revs. Robert Woodard and James W. Ross officiating.
Burial was in Antioch Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Ross died Tuesday, February 29, 2000, at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville. He was a native of Tennessee and was retired from Ford Motor Company in Lorain, Ohio, where he worked as a maintenance painter.
He is survived by his wife, Alice J. Ross of Somerville; two sons, Terry Ross of New Albany, Ind., and Jerry Ross of Somerville; three daughters, Teresa McWhinnie and Lisa Cribley, both of New Hampshire, and Connie Richardson of Lorain; one brother, James W. Ross of Jeffersonville, Ind.; three sisters, Mildred Hyde of Chicago, and Barbara Rea and Ruth Anderson, both of Memphis, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral for James Edd Owens, 94, of Trinity was Saturday, March 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Revs. Bobby Bentley and David Phillips officiating.
Burial was in Oak Grove First Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Owens died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He is a native of Morgan County and a member of Oak Grove Congregational Methodist Church. He was school bus superintendent for Morgan County Schools for 20 years.
He is survived by three sons, Kermit Owens of Trinity, Clellie Owens of Hillsboro and Jerald Owens of Hartselle; one daughter, Marie Campbell of Trinity; 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Grandsons were pallbearers.
Prentice Odell Griffin

Funeral for Prentice Odell Griffin, 75, of Oakville was Wednesday, March 1, at 12:00 noon at Sharpley Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary A. Taylor officiating.
Burial was in Lindsey Cemetery.
Mr. Griffin died Friday, February 25, 2000, at his residence. He was a native of Lawrence County and a retired farmer. He was the brother of the late Herman Lenzo, Ottis Lenzo, Annie Pearl Burgess, Velma Griffin, Nayjewel Hawkins and Ruby Seal Orr and the father of the late Earskine Griffin, Howard Griffin, James Griffin and Carolyn Griffin.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eva Mae Gibson Griffin of Oakville; three sons, Thomas Griffin and Kenneth Griffin, both of Oakville, and Earl Roger of Hartselle; six daughters, Odessa Brackin, Patricia Stover, Cardella Hawkins, Paulette Taylor, Gloria Taylor and Melissa Horton, all of Oakville; two brothers, Gurney Griffin of Oakville and Hence Griffin, Jr. of Alexander City; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral for Mary Dell Gilley, 83, of Somerville was Sunday, March 5, at 2:00 p.m. at New Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Parrish officiating.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Gober Funeral Home Arab directing.
Mrs. Gilley died Tuesday, February 29, 2000, at Marshall Medical Center-North. She was a native of Marshall County and a member of New Friendship Baptist Church. She was the widow of William Paul Gilley, to whom she was married for 49 years, and the mother of the late Mary Sue Woodruff.
She is survived by one daughter, Myra Nell Wilkes of Somerville; one brother, James Saint of Montgomery; one sister, Dallas Whatley of Dallas, Tex.; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

A graveside service for Burleson A. Dinsmore, 89, of Decatur was Saturday, March 4, at 12:00 noon at Burningtree Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Charles E. Brown officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Dinsmore died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was a native of Morgan County and retired from Railway Express. He earned a bachelor's degree from Howard University and was a member of Priceville United Methodist Church. He was the widower of Elsie Simpson Dinsmore.
He is survived by one son, William M. Dinsmore of Priceville; one daughter, Evelyn Rubin of Birmingham; one brother, Lloyd Dinsmore of Decatur; one sister, Frances McLaughlin of Birmingham; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Brian Hinson, Mike DeSpain, Keith Thigpin, Richard Rubin, James Moses and Billy Buckelew.

Mr. Lorance died Monday, March 6, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was a native of Morgan County and an asphalt plant operator for Shelby Contractors, Inc.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Frances Marie Lawrence Lorance of Decatur; three daughters, Joyce Free of Decatur, Kay Snoddy of Tanner and Sue Lacy of Falkville; two brothers, James R. Lorance of Decatur and William (Bill) Lorance of Midwest City, Okla.; four sisters, Minnie Griffith Pollard and Virginia (Stringer) Green, both of Decatur, Ann Entriken of Omaha, Neb., and Bran Bishop of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Nathan Lawrence, James Linderman, Joe Curbow, Johnny Lawrence, Cecil Berry, John Berry and Tommy Luker.
