Ruth Harrison Cost
April 29, 2000
Funeral for Ruth Harrison Cost, 81, of Hartselle was Wednesday, May 3, at 2:00 p.m. at Hartselle First Baptist Church with the Revs. Brooks Barkley and Ron Wilson officiating.
Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens with Peck Funeral Home directing. Funeral arrangements in Lake Charles were handled by Johnson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cost died Saturday, April 29, 2000, in a Lake Charles, La., hospital. She was a native of Morgan County and a lifelong resident of Hartselle. She was a graduate of the former Morgan County High School and an accountant for the former Hartselle Electric Board for many years. She was also a licensed practical nurse and a member of First Baptist Church in Hartselle, where she was a Sunday School teacher for more than 60 years. She was the widow of William Mike Cost.
She is survived by one son, Michael Cost of Hartselle; one daughter, Ruth Gail Abrahams of Lake Charles; eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Charles Quinn, Wayne Hardy, Dr. Steve Pearson, Phillip Parmer, Tommie Dunlap and Andy Hankins.

Sarah Johnson Summerford
May 2, 2000
Funeral for Sarah Johnson Summerford, 76, of Decatur will be Thursday (today), May 4, at 11:00 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. W. L. Cole officiating.
Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Summerford died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. She held every office in the Women's Division of the United Methodist Church and distinguished herself in carrying out the responsibilities of these offices. She was the widow of the Rev. Robert Sheats Summerford.
She is survived by one son, George Alan Summerford of Littleton, NC; one daughter, Janet Summerford Baker of Muscle Shoals; two brothers, J.H. Johnson of Decatur and Paul Johnson of Hartselle; one sister, Nan Campbell of Hartselle; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Larry Anders, Bob Durand, Frank Mangum, Matt Mangum, Jack Riethmaier and Lynn Thompson.

Mary L. Woods
May 1, 2000
Funeral for Mary L. Woods, 91, of Hartselle was Wednesday, May 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rodger Collins officiating.
Burial was in Decatur City Cemetery.
Mrs. Woods died Monday, May 1, 2000, at her residence. She was a native of Chilton County and a retired supervisor for BellSouth. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Talmadge Woods, and a sister, Ann Lowe.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Travis Kitchens

Funeral for Travis Kitchens, 77, of Hartselle was Monday, May 1, at 2:00 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Wiley Kitchens officiating.
Burial was in Rock Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Kitchens died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was a native of Lawrence County and was retired from Ford Motor Co. He was a Baptist and a veteran of World War II, having served in the Normandy Invasion.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, June Kitchens of Hartselle; one son, James (Pete) Kitchens of Cynthiana, Ky., one daughter, Robin Guerrero of Atlanta, Ga.; five brothers, Frank Kitchens of Decatur, Jessie Kitchens of Trinity, Edwin Kitchens of Moulton, Wiley Kitchens of Cullman and Willard Kitchens of Prattville; one sister, Ozelle Kitchens Cryer of Somerville; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Herron, Alex Guerrero, Daniel Kitchens, David Stisher, Roy Lee Kitchens, Dewayne Kitchens, Ronnie Herron and Doyle Stisher.

Debbie Anita Brown

Funeral for Debbie Anita Brown, 44, of Hartselle was Sunday, April 30, at 10:00 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Brown died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. She was a native of Griffin, Ga., and a former employee of Copeland Corp., was the mother of the late Phillip Clayton Brown and sister of the late Doug Duncan.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne R. Brown of Hartselle; three sons, Charles (Wolf) Brown of Flint, Mich., and Roy Eugene Brown and James David Brown, both of Hartselle; one daughter, Judy DeAnne Luker of Falkville; her mother, Opal Parris of Falkville; three brothers, Billy Duncan of Griffin, Gene Duncan of Hartselle and Frankie Duncan of Falkville; two sisters, Gail Dougherty and Judy Harmes, both of Decatur; and one grandchild.

Marjorie Willene Hensley
April 27, 2000
Funeral for Marjorie Willene Hensley, 70, of Danville was Sunday, April 30, at 2:00 p.m. at Enon Baptist Church with Bro. Johnny Huey and Bro. C.G. Reding officiating.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Parkway Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Hensley died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. She was a native of Oakville and a member of Enon Baptist Church, where she sang in the adult choir. She was a retired bus driver for the Lawrence County School system after 24 years. She was the sister of the late Wendell Johnson, Ronnie (Pete) Johnson and John Lee Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, F.D. Hensley of Danville; one daughter, Martha Hensley of Danville; her mother, Muriel Johnson of Danville; three brothers, Don Johnson, Jimmy Johnson and Kenny Johnson, all of Danville; and eight sisters, Opal Ferguson of Hartselle, Margaret Sanderson, Sandra Jackson, and Johnnie Sharon Appleton, all of Danville, Patsy Blaxton and Kathy Brown, both of Moulton; Peggy McCullough of Decatur and Andrea Orr of Tuscon, Ariz.
Pallbearers were Dustin Johnson, Brian Bullard, Randy Hensley, Virgil Vest, Jason Blaxton and Earl Vest.

Grace Gray Morris

Funeral for Grace Gray Morris, 89, of Danville was Sunday, April 30, at 3:00 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Willie Delashaw, Jack Bailey and Wayne Penn officiating,
Burial was in Friendship Cemetery.
Mrs. Morris died Friday, April 28, 2000, at her residence. She was a native of Morgan County, a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a retired grocery store owner. She was the widow of Richard H. Morris and the sister of the late Coleman Gray, Gertrude H. Parker, Ruth G. Hogan and Azilee G. Owens.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Morris Willingham of Cullman and Nellene Morris Fitzgerald of Danville; three sisters, Opal Gray of Danville, Inez Holiday Owens of Falkville and Lavern Gray Holiday of Indianapolis, Ind.; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joel Holladay, Charles Holladay, George Moore, Robert Morris, Paul Waddell and Gerald Hogan.
