Funeral for Lester "Les" Hughes, 61, of Decatur will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Deer Springs Baptist Church with Charles Foreman officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Hughes died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Birmingham. He was born July 30, 1938, in Decatur to Joe Hughes and Beatrice Elkins. He was a member of Deer Springs Baptist and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was former owner of Highway Discount Furniture in Hartselle and was a retired truck driver.
He is survived by two daughters, Leslie Hughes of Springville and Cindy Morgan of Hartselle; two brothers, Jimmy Elkins of Altus, Okla., and Larry Elkins of Florida; two sisters, Sarah Scott of Somerville and Mary Percival of Huntsville; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Scoggins, Bobby Shadden, Ricky Young, David Cagle, Lamar Percival and Jim Demastus.

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for the Rev. Charles Loyd Lindsey, 68, of Vinemont will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Ebenezer Freewill Baptist Church the Rev. Tommy Williams and the Rev. Laverle Buckelew officiating.
Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at Peck Funeral Home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.
Mr. Lindsey died Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999, at Northport Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. He was born July 30, 1931, in Morgan County to Lee and Audie Aldridge Lindsey. He was a former pastor of Ebenezer Freewill Baptist Church, Pine Street Baptist Church, Bell Springs Baptist Church and other Baptist churches in the area. He was a self-employed carpenter and member of the Calvary West Baptist Church in Cullman.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Moses Lindsey; three sons, James Lindsey of Eutaw, Richard Lindsey of Vinemont and Lynn Lindsey of Falkville; three daughters, Carol Free and Darlene Clark, both of Falkville, and Regina Hall of Eva; three brothers, Jack Lindsey of Mogadore, Ohio, and George Lindsey and James Don Lindsey, both of Ohio; three sisters, Helen Kennedy and Retta Mertz, both of Ohio, and Kathy Carden of Orlando, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren;
Pallbearers will be Dale Free, Chris Free, Mark Hardin, Jamie Lindsey, Jimmy Moses, George Hudgins, Albert Thompson and Junior Lindsey.

Funeral for Ruth Briscoe Pettey, 97, of Decatur was to be today at 2 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hal Noble and the Rev. Bonnie Romans officiating.
Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Pettey died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, at her home. She was born Sept. 1, 1902, in Marshall, Texas. A Morgan County educator for more than 50 years, she was a member of Alabama Retired Teachers Association, American Association of University Women, Central United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, and was past president of Alabama Federated Garden Clubs and Central Garden Club of Decatur. She also was a founding member of Women's Chamber of Commerce. She was the widow of former City Clerk Joe Pettey. She is survived by one stepdaughter, Rebecca McElrath of West Hills, Calif.; one sister, Mary Cook of Decatur; step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were to be Charles Puckett, Frank Briscoe, Gordon Briscoe, J.M. Briscoe Jr., Richard Pettey, Chris Pettey, Robert H. Pettey Jr. and Joe Pool.

Mrs. Russell died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Feb. 26, 1922, in Limestone County to John Thomas and Cora Lee Reeves Vinson. She retired from Decatur General Hospital where she worked in central supplies. She was a member of Hartselle Church of Christ.
She is survived by one son, Edgar Earl Smith of Decatur; two daughters, Brenda Smith Julian of Mobile and Dianne Terry Lawter of Hartselle; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Watson died Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born July 15, 1917, in Winston County. He was a retiree of Dubs Burgers in Athens where he worked for 27 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Athens. He is survived by one son, J.W. Watson of Athens; one daughter, Linda Hicks of Athens; one brother, Clarence Mattox of Leoma, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Brown died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born May 29, 1912, in Bangor. She was a lifelong member of 16th Avenue Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was a custodian at Austin High School and a sales clerk at a shoe store.
She is survived by two sons, Samuel C. Brown of Memphis and the Rev. Harold Brown of Boaz; four daughters, Nancy B. Suns of Huntsville, Anna Ruth Graves of Trinity, Dorothy F. Birdwell of Ryan and Elaine B. Wright of Lincolnton, N.C.; two brothers, William Jenkins of Cullman and Felix S. Jenkins of Hanceville; one sister, Evelyn Christie of Albuquerque, N.M.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Campbell died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Sept. 12, 1953, in Limestone County to D.W. "Buddy" and Helen Campbell.
He is survived by three sons, Jimmy Campbell Jr. and Adam Campbell, both of Kansas City, Mo., and Jason Campbell of Athens; two daughters, Heather Campbell of Kansas City and Athena Smith of Athens; one brother, Scott Campbell of Athens; two sisters, Barbara Dutton of Trinity and Patsy Hacker of Athens; and two grandchildren.

Mr. Evans was born April 18, 1932, in Anderson, Ind. He was a retired route salesman.
