Mr. McGhee died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, at home. He was born April 15, 1932, in Durham, N.C., to Charles Franklin and Esther Lillian Goodwin McGhee. He retired as a purchasing agent from Brown and Root Construction Co. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of First Baptist Church of Austinville, Courtland Masonic Lodge No. 37 F&AM, York and Scottish Rite Bodies, and Cahaba Shrine Temple.
He is survived by his wife, Betty McGhee; three sons, Michael McGhee of Huntsville, Texas, Mark McGhee of Lynchburg, Va., and Matt McGhee of Portland, Ore.; one daughter, Melinda McGhee of Portland; three stepdaughters, Deborah Newman of Trinity, Shelia Harrell of Decatur and Phyllis Waldrep of Trussville; two brothers, Donald McGhee of Lumberton, N.C., and Larry McGhee of Decatur; two sisters, Grace Story and Mary Wrenn, both of Durham, N.C.; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
Members of Courtland Masonic Lodge No. 37 will be pallbearers.

Ms. Patterson died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, at home. She was born March 29, 1950, in Lester to Howard and Helen Clark Patterson. She was manager of CVS Pharmacy in Lebanon, Tenn., for the past 10 years. She is survived by one son, Shahn Clark Crawford of Riddleton, Tenn.; one daughter, Donna Goodin Teston of Greenville, Tenn.; one brother, Michael Patterson of Alvarado, Texas; two sisters, Marsha G. Patterson of Nashville and Myra K. Patterson of Decatur; her mother; and two grandchildren.

Ms. Payne died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, at Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville, La. She was born July 1, 1940, in Morgan County to Enoch and Erin Love NeSmith. She was a former assembly line worker at Medical Care Products Inc. of Decatur and was a member of Lighthouse Church of God of Leesville.

Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Prince died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, at her home. She was born Oct. 22, 1908, in Dayton, Tenn., to Joseph and Elizabeth Cain. She spent most of her adult life in Altoona, where she and her husband, Jesse D. Prince, owned and operated Prince Drug Store.
After his death in 1970, she ran the business for several more years before retiring to Huntsville to live with her daughter. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Altoona, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She also attended Latham United Methodist Church in Huntsville. She was the mother of the late Walter Russell Prince.
She is survived by one son, Dr. Daniel Scott Prince of Decatur; one daughter, Nina Jo Prince Hopper of Huntsville; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mr. Ashby died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, at his home. He was born May 14, 1930, in Lincoln County, Tenn. He owned Ashby & Sons Roofing Co. for years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jean Ashby; three sons, Tony Ashby of Palatka, Fla., and Frankie Ashby and Jimmy Dwight Ashby, both of Elkmont; eight daughters, Joann Riddle of Fayetteville, Tenn., Judy Spurlock of Satsuma, Fla., Patricia Woodall of Tullahoma, Tenn., Lesa Downes of Guntersville, Shelby Gordon and Charlotte Wales, both of Elkmont, and Pricilla Chavarria and Janice Seirra, both of Athens; one sister, Lucy Dempsey of Madison; 27 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hays died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Aug. 12, 1926, in Blount County to Enoch B. and Rubette Russell Hays. He retired from Cudaha Tanning Co. in Milwaukee and was an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by two sons, Johnny Hays and Steve Hays, both of Decatur; two daughters, Ann Hamilton of Hartselle and Judy Sparks of Trinity; one brother, Grady Hays of Cullman; two sisters, Cora Davis of Danville and Ruby Clem of Trinity; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Ligon died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham. He was born April 12, 1921, in Lawrence County to John and Lucy Lipscomb Ligon. He was a retired factory worker. He was the widower of Gladys Alexander Ligon and the brother of the late Bill Ligon, Julia Sherrill and Minnie Reed.
He is survived by one son, Marshall Keith Ligon of Moulton; one daughter, Johnnie Dianne Blankenship of Moulton; three brothers, Tom Ligon and Dan "Snooks" Ligon, both of Moulton, and James Ligon of Wellington, Ky.; two sisters, Sallie Sherrill of Moulton and Lucille Legg of Chickasaw; and two grandchildren.

Mr. Maples died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, at home. He was born Dec. 1, 1914, at Elkmont. He was a retired livestock farmer. He was past president of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association and the Alabama Angus Association. He was inducted into the Alabama Livestock Hall of Fame in December 1982.
He was past chairman of the Athens-Limestone Hospital Board, the Limestone Democrat Party and the Alabama Elk River Development Association. He was a member of the Athens State University Foundation Board, the Department of Human Resources Board, the Limestone County Board of Education and Athens Rotary Club. He was an Eagle Scout and received the Boy Scout Century Leadership Award. He was a deacon and elder of First Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Elliott Maples; one son, Billy Maples of Elkmont; three daughters, Anne Maples Hamner of Fayette, Susan Maples Minor of Columbiana and Jane Maples of Madison; one sister, Macy Maples Christopher of Athens; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Dave Maples, Tommy Maples, John Hamner, Scott Hamner, Tim Minor and Terry Minor.

Martin of Trinity; three daughters, Faye Hopper of Decatur, Annette Shoopman of Fintas, Kuwait, and Betty Doris Barnett of Elgin Crossroads; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
