Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Vanaman died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at his home. He was born Sept. 1, 1932, in Port Elizabeth, N.J. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired employee of McDonnell Douglas Corp. He is survived by his wife, Betty Page Vanaman; one son, James Kenneth Vanaman of Merritt Island, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Joni Whitworth of Athens, Jeni Moreno of Harvest and Judi Ezell of Ardmore, Tenn.; three brothers, Wes Vanaman of Salt Lake City, Adrian Vanaman of Port Elizabeth and Joe Vanaman of Seaford, Del.; and eight grandchildren.

ATHENS -- Funeral for Ollie Cleo West, 90, of Athens will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bethel Church of Christ with Jimmy Clark officiating.
Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mrs. West died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Oct. 17, 1908, in Colbert County. She was a retired nurse who worked at Decatur General Hospital, Fox-Army Hospital and Redstone Arsenal. She was the widow of Carl A. West and the mother of the late Carlene McLemore and Elmer M. West.
She is survived by four daughters, Sylvia Hargrave of Madison, Ella Mae Klaus of Boise, Idaho, and Jo Ann Isom and Evelyn Sevigne, both of Athens; one brother, Hartful McCann of Athens; one sister, Geneva Smith of Michigan; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Mrs. Anthony died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at Crockett Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was born May 26, 1910, in Lawrence County, Tenn., to Joseph and Roena Bassham Thompson. She was a homemaker and a member of Blooming Grove Baptist Church. She was the widow of Lawrence Anthony.
She is survived by three sons, J.B. Matlock and Billy Gene Matlock, both of Lawrenceburg, and William Jackson Matlock of Hanceville; one daughter, Eva Mae King of Town Creek; 18 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Patricia Ann Hamilton

Mrs. Hamilton died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, in Holly Springs, Miss. She was born Aug. 12, 1950, in Limestone County. She was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Athens and a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Copas Hamilton; her parents, David and Adell Newton of Athens; two sons, Bracy Hamilton and Jason Hamilton, both of Athens; three brothers, Jerry Lee Newton, David Larry Newton, both of Athens, and Perry Jo Newton of Madison; one sister, Martha Scroggins of Athens; and two grandchildren.

Mr. Newton died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, in Holly Springs, Miss. He was born July 4, 1959, in Limestone County. He was a member of Tanner United Methodist Church and owner of C&E Plumbing Co. He was past president of Tanner Youth Sports and Reid Booster Club. He was a volunteer football coach at Tanner High School and a member of the Tanner Quarterback Club.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Sims Newton; his parents, David and Adell Newton of Athens; one son, Christopher Brock Newton of Athens; one daughter, Emily Brooke Newton of Athens; three brothers, Jerry Lee Newton, David Larry Newton, both of Athens, and Perry Jo Newton of Madison; and one sister, Martha Scroggins of Athens.
Pallbearers will be Rip Swanner, Henry White, Brian LeCroix, Mike Laughmiller, Hershel Swanner, Jimmy George, Tim Townsend and Jim Cooper.

Mr. Owens died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born April 27, 1926, in Willow Creek, Tenn. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, retired from the U.S. Civil Service and a member of Cooksville, Tenn., United Methodist Church. He was the brother of the late Jerry Owens and the father of the late E.D. Owens.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Owens; one son, Charles Owens of Laurel, Miss.; three daughters, Helen Hill of Decatur, Ann Strunk of Pine Knot, Ky., and Janice Johnson of Birmingham; his mother, Eula Owens of Cherokee; five sisters, Opaline Jones, Geraldine Flatt, Carolyn Hooks, Billie Mitchell and Joyce Bullington, all of Cooksville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

HARTSELLE -- Military graveside service for Col. Hugh Heflin Pattillo, 70, of Hartselle will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Col. Paul O'Mary and the Rev. W. G. Henry and officiating.
Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Pattillo died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at his residence. He was born Dec. 21, 1928, in Morgan County, to William V. Pattillo and Ollie Mae Williams Pattillo. He attended Gulf Coast Military Academy, in Gulfport, Miss, then received a Congressional appointment to West Point Military Academy where he graduated in 1951. He received his master's degree in nuclear physics from the University of Virginia.
He served in the Korean War and two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a highly decorated combat veteran, receiving a silver star and four bronze stars among numerous other military citations.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia D. Pattillo; one son, Hugh V. Pattillo of Mobile; one daughter, Kathy D. Pattillo of Nashville; one sister, Rachael Pattillo Cadenhead of Florence; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Hartselle or a favorite charity.

Mr. Thompson died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at his home. He was born October 16, 1937, in Lauderdale County. He retired from Monsanto in 1994 and was a member of Center Star Church of Christ. He was father of the late Mitch Thompson.
He is survived by his wife, Vonda Thompson; two sons, Tommy Thompson and Andy Thompson, both of Center Star; two daughters, Beth Ritter of Rogersville and Deborah Darby of Center Star; two brothers, Ted Thompson of Center Star and Johnny Thompson of Lexington; one sister, Jo Ann Thomas of Center Star; and 10 grandchildren.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.

She is survived by one son, Samuel Don Hollin of Adamsville; one stepson, Marty Wade of Decatur; two stepdaughters, Dorothy Jean McLure of South Bend, Ind., and Adonis Robertson of Jackson, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren; 22 step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 46 great-step-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-step-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-step-grandchild.
