Mrs. Smith died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was born Oct. 28, 1917, in Marshall County, Tenn., to Olga and Lela McCory Beard.
She was a retired seamstress at Belk Hudson Co. and a charter member of the Lioness Club.
She is survived by her husband, James Harwell Smith Sr.; one son, James Harwell Smith Jr. of Cullman; one daughter, Debra Kennedy of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Sara Pigg of Decatur; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.

Mr. Snoddy died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, in Elkmont. He was born Oct. 29, 1964, in Ozark. He was a technician for Management Security in Madison.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Lorance Snoddy; one son, Coty Snoddy of Athens; his parents, Joe N. and Allene Snoddy of Decatur; one stepson, Lee Stuggs of Tanner; one stepdaughter, Pam Collum of Falkville; one sister, Lee Nelson Benitiz of Tanner; and one step-grandchild.

Mr. Thompson died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital.
He was born in Spartanburg, S.C. He retired from Flour-Daniel, where he was an electrical superintendent.
He is survived by two sons, Mike Thompson of Decatur and Gary Thompson of Farmington, N.M.; one sister, Margaret Hoard of Duncan, S.C.; and one grandchild.

She was born Dec. 27, 1914, in Limestone County to John Thomas and Vera Dungy Tillery. She was a homemaker and a member of Boyd's Chapel United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Howard Wales Sr. and the mother of the late Curtis Wales and the late Ruth Helen Powers.
She is survived by two sons, William Howard Wales Jr. of Decatur and Thomas Clay Wales of Athens; one daughter, Lorene Wales Smith of Decatur; two sisters, Birdie Powers and Dorothy Barnes, both of Ardmore; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.

She is survived by two sons, Dan Claborn of Courtland and Joe Claborn of Moulton; two daughters, Doris C. York of Fairview Park, Ohio, and Betty C. Parker of Courtland; three sisters, Mable Agee of Moulton, Elaine Reding of Courtland and Jean Sanders of Decatur; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Johnson died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Jan. 15, 1916, in Beaverdale, Pa. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and O'Neal's Homemakers Club. She was a homemaker and a hospital volunteer.
She is survived by nieces and nephews of Maryland.
Clifton M. 'Demi' McClure

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for Clifton M. "Demi" McClure, 67, of Huntsville was to be today at 2 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with Roy Hulling officiating. Burial was to be in Anderson, S.C.
Mr. McClure died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at a local hospital.
A native of Anderson, S.C., he and his family moved in 1967 to Huntsville, where he started a scuba diving business and taught people the sport. Later, he started a company that supplied breathing air for personnel working in hazardous environments throughout the United States. He served in the U.S. Air Force after graduating from Clemson University and later went to Europe as a test pilot for the Air National Guard Fighter Interceptor Squadron when it was activated during the Berlin crisis in 1962. He had many achievements in the Air Force space program initiated by Col. John P. Stapp at Holloman Air Force Base before NASA was established. He worked with the Man High Project that developed space cabin atmospheres that sent men more than 100,000 feet in a capsule under a helium balloon. His flight was Man High III, and he was the third human to see the curvature of the Earth from space.
He was the father of the late Ginger McClure.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie L. McClure; two sons, Dan McClure of Marietta, Ga., and David A. McClure of Huntsville; one brother, David G. McClure of San Francisco; one sister, Malaney M. West of Orlando; and four grandsons.
Lester D. Montgomery

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -- Funeral for Lester D. Montgomery, 79, of Athens, Mich., will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Bachman Hebble Funeral Home with the Rev. Kyra Jackson officiating.

Mr. Montgomery died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. He was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Moulton to the Rev. John D. and Della Montgomery. He was a World War II veteran, serving from 1945-46 as a fourth-grade Army technician and a member of the U.S. Army Air Forces from 1941-45. He was a mill operator for 30 years at Post Cereal Co. and a member of the Post 25-Year Club. He attended Temple Baptist Church in Battle Creek. He was the brother of the late Mabel Gillespie and Harvey Montgomery.
He is survived by his wife, Velma B. Montgomery; one son, Larry Montgomery of Battle Creek; one daughter, Janet Fredenburg of Battle Creek; one brother, the Rev. Lyndon Montgomery of Hartselle; three sisters, Cora O'Dell of Clinton, Tenn., and Ruby Wilkerson and Chelsea Mae Terry, both of Moulton; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Moran died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Limestone Health Facility. She was born March 29, 1914, in Limestone County. She was retired from Con-Agra and a member of O'Neal Church of Christ. She was the widow of Jimmy Moran and mother of the late Charles Moran.
She is survived by one son, Readus Moran of Elkmont; one brother, Lester Craig of Athens; two sisters, Pauline Britton of Elkmont and Nell Birdsong of Athens; and grandchildren.
