Funeral services for Mary Denton Jones were held at 12 noon May 23 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. David France officiating.
She was preceded in death by her husband Johnnie Jones; daughter Hallie B. Jones; brother Frank Denton; and great-grandchildren Little Miss Marquita Mays and Little Mister Bernard Jones. She died May 17 at the age of 94 at Salem Nursing and Rehab Center.
Survivors include her son John Earl Jones, Birmingham; granddaughters Mary Frances Cousette, Aliceville, Margaret (Rev. Michael) Mays, Birmingham, and Jewel (Henry) Jackson, Ypsilanti, Mich.; grandsons James Earl Smith, Carrollton and Larry Jones, Philadelphia, Penn.; 23 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; four great-great-great-grandchildren; special niece Louise Denton, Panola; special cousin Sylvia Denise (Connie) Lewis, Birmingham; special friend Annie Hill, Aliceville; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were James Earl Smith, Larry Jones, Sammie Cousette, Samuel Washington, Jimmy Stewart and LaFayette Jordan.
Burial was in Magnolia Memorial Gardens with Lavender Funeral Service directing.
Troy McDaniel
Graveside services for Troy McDaniel of Aliceville were held at 11 a.m. May 24 at Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors, Rev. W. A. Hinton officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
He was a retired driver for Dowdle Gas Company. He was a veteran of the Korean War and retired from the U.S. Navy and Army Reserve with 28 years of service. He was preceded in death by his father Franklin McDaniel; daughters Diane McDaniel, Darlene McDaniel and Dora McDaniel; and brothers Buddy McDaniel, Monroe McDaniel and Roy McDaniel. He died May 22 at the age of 67 in Aliceville.
Survivors include his wife Gail McDaniel, Aliceville; daughters Wendy (Mike) Hanson, Kissimmee, Fla., Penny (Jay) Henderson, Bessemer, and Debbie (Charles) McCrary, Winfield, La.; son Ronnie McDaniel, Ethelsville; sister Melba Hemphill, Carrollton; brother Thomas (Frances) McDaniel, Phenix City; mother Roxy Magnolia McDaniel, Carrollton; grandchildren Dale McDaniel, Cody McDaniel, Faith Hanson, Brandon Hanson, Jonathan Henderson and Benjamin Henderson; and sisterinlaw Shirley McDaniel.
Honorary pallbearers were Caring Hands Hospice of Tuscaloosa and the Brotherhood of West End Baptist Church in Aliceville.

James G. Owings
Graveside services for James G. Owings of Kingsport, Tenn. were held at 10 a.m. May 16 at Mountain Home National Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Hammond Post #3 of the American Legion, with Rev. John Hackney officiating and HamlettDobson Funeral Home directing.
He attended The University of Alabama and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He retired from Reynolds Metal Company where he worked as a salesman. He was a member of Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church. He had been an active supporter and volunteer at the Medal of Honor Museum of Military History in Chattanooga, Tenn. He was a member of the American Legion Post #159 in Chattanooga, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his brother John Owings and parents Annie Earline McCafferty and Gardner Lafayette Owings. He died May 13 at the age of 77 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Owings; daughters Mary Jane Dishion, West Chester, Ohio and Patricia Taylor, Collierville, Tenn.; stepdaughters Mary Beth Strickler and Martha Lawson, both of Kingsport, Tenn.; stepson Charles Brooks, Rockford, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters Marietta Owings, Carrollton, Earline Caddis, Gainesville, Fla. and Bess Causey, Salinas, Cal.; and several nieces and nephews.
Junior Parham
Funeral services for Junior Parham of Illinois were held at 8 p.m. May 15 at W. W. Holt Funeral Home with Rev. Robert McCottreal officiating.
He was a native of Sumter County. He enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters and a nephew. He died May 8 at the age of 87 at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Survivors include his nieces Maziel Morgan, Lizzie Smith and Gussie Parham, all of Chicago, Ill., Annie (James) Smith, Chicago Heights, Ill. and Rosemary Jones, Brooklyn, NY; nephews C. L. (Susie) Parham, Jerry (Gloria) Parham and Howard (Alfreda) Parham, all of Birmingham; special friend C. D. Davis, Robbins, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

Fred Lavell Parker
Funeral services for Fred Lavell Parker of Reform were held at 2 p.m. May 26 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Todd Bryant officiating.
He was a member of Double Branch Independent Missionary Baptist Church, a retired farmer and a lifelong resident of Pickens County. He was preceded in death by his brothers Leland, Aubrey and Burl Parker; and grandson Fredrick Fulgham. He died May 23 at the age of 89 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife Bessie Eline Parker, Reform; daughter Sharon (Tim) Fulgham, Reform; sons Jearld (Sue) Parker, Reform, Donald (Suzanne) Parker, Millport, Wayne (Brenda) Parker, Kennedy, and Burl (Faye) Parker, Northport; sisters Mamozell Estes, Gordo and Bertrice Barget, Farmington Hills, Mich.; brothers Elvin Parker, Vernon, Homer Parker, Gordo and Bill Parker, Leroy, Ill.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Dr. George S. Parker
Funeral services for Dr. George S. Parker of Vestavia Hills were held at 2 p.m. May 18 at South Highland Presbyterian Church with Dr. Edwin Hurley officiating.
He was a native of Aliceville. He was a graduate of The University of Alabama and the Dental School at the University of Tennessee. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army. He earned his orthodontics degree at Northwestern University and practiced in Birmingham for 35 years. He was a member of South Highland Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and elder, and was a member of the Builders Sunday School Class and the Chancel Choir. He was a member of the American Association of Orthodontics and the Southern Society of Orthodontics. He was a member of Delta Sigma Delta fraternity, the International Brotherhood of Magicians and was a past president of the Birmingham Children's Theatre. He died May 16 at the age of 79.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Dorothy E. Parker; daughter Susan P. (Randy) Weems, Carrollton, Ga.; son James S. (Jodie) Parker, Cumming, Ga.; grandchildren Amy Parker, Julie Parker, Andrew Weems and Rebecca Weems; brother Thomas R. (Verda Mae) Parker, Aliceville; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery with Ridout's Valley Chapel of Homewood directing.

Franklin Wright

He was a retired supervisor for Hooker Chemicals and Cargill Inc. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. He died May 22 at the age of 71 at Baptist Memorial HospitalGolden Triangle.
Survivors include his son Ken Wright, Columbus, Miss.; daughters Sandra Youngblood, Columbus, Miss. and Donna Fields, Ethelsville; grandchildren Deb Frasher and Nikki Rowland, both of Columbus, Miss., and Kelli King, Cheyenne, Wyo.; great-grandchildren Kelsi King, Alexis Frasher and Cooper King; and brothers Billy Wright, Columbus, Miss. and Thomas Wright, Dallas, Texas.

Edna Earl Bailey
Funeral services for Edna Earl Bailey of Gordo were held at 10 a.m. May 7 at Gordo First United Methodist Church with Dr. Bill Etheridge and Rev. Rusty Tate officiating.
She was the oldest living member of the Gordo First United Methodist Church where she held the longest membership of the church until her death. She was very active in her church and community activities. She was a life-long resident of Pickens County where she and her husband James were long-time merchants in Gordo. She also worked as a substitute teacher for the Gordo School System. She was preceded in death by her husband James Bailey. She died May 3 at the age of 88 at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her son Ken (Brenda P.) Bailey, Aliceville; brother Leland Cummins, Opp; grandchildren Chad (Hope) Bailey and Lance (Nichole) Bailey; great-grandchildren Newman Bailey, Parker Bailey and Carol Grace Bailey.
Pallbearers were Larry Bailey, Jeff Campbell, Harold Davis, Jack Howell, Harold Moss and Max Wiginton.

Edith M. Latham

She was a native of Reform and a resident of Demopolis for many years. She was a retired nurses aide for Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Reform. She was preceded in death by her son James Thomas "J.T." Johnson; grandson James T. Johnson Jr.; great-grandson, Jeremy T. Johnson and brother James Gaston. She died May 3 at the age of 91 at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her granddaughter Stephanie A. Johnson, Chattanooga, Tenn.; grandsons Owen H. (Cindy) Johnson, Fayetteville, Tenn. and Marvin A. "Buddy" Johnson, Demopolis; and three great-grandchildren.
Bill Nicely
Funeral services for Harold "Bill" Nicely of Carrollton were held at 2 p.m. April 30 at Carrollton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Maxwell and Rev. Carl Long officiating.
He was a member of Carrollton Baptist Church, a retired self-employed truck driver and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents Will and Pearl Lay Nicely. He died April 27 at the age of 69 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife Gladys Nicely, Carrollton; daughters Rhonda (David) Tilley, Ethelsville and Tammy (Tim) Crews, Carrollton; sons Doug (Tabitha) Nicely, Ethelsville, Wayne (Pam) Nicely, Blaine, Tenn. and Jesse (Terri) Nicely, Luttrell, Tenn.; and eight grandchildren.

Willie Turnipseed

He was a native of Aliceville. He was a construction pipe layer and retired in 1978. He died April 24 at the age of 84 at Hampton Court Nursing Rehabilitation Nursing Center in Miami, Fla.
Survivors include his daughters Jeanette Baldwin, Miami, and Bernice Turnipseed, Tampa; son Jacob Turnipseed, Dothan; daughter-in-law Georgia Turnipseed; sisters Lillie Pear Turnipseed, Reform, and Annie Summerville, Aliceville; grandchildren Derrell Speight, Linda Baldwin and Lester Baldwin Jr., all of Miami, Allena Attaway Plummer, New York, Stacey Turnipseed, Atlanta, and Derrick Turnipseed, Dothan; great-grandchildren Clarence, New York, Donell Speight, Atlanta, Donovan and Ashley Speight, Ambria Jeanette Baldwin and Quavon Zion Beckfork, all of Miami.

Edna E. Barrett

She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband Coleman Barrett; sister Earline Davis and brother J. D. Robertson. She died June 9 at the age of 77 at Northport Medical Center.
Survivors include her son Truman (Janice) Quimby, Gordo; grandchildren Kevin (Lisa) Quimby and Chad (Rhonda) Quimby, both of Gordo; and great-grandchildren Megan and Emilee.
