Eveline Hinton
Funeral services for Eveline Hinton of Aliceville were held at 2 p.m. July 17 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Pebbles officiating.

She was a member of Salem Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Luther Hinton; and sister Mary Alice Long. She died July 12 at the age of 56 at Pickens County Medical Center.

Survivors include her daughters Evelyn Mae Hinton, Aliceville, Linda Long, Birmingham, and Brenda Long, Plantation, Fla.; granddaughters Kim and Sabrina, both of Aliceville, and Tomora and Latamara, both of Birmingham; grandson Rue'l Elliot, Plantation, Fla.; great-grandson Qua' Darius, Aliceville; sisters Rosie L. (David) Hill, Birmingham, and Willie Mae Hinton and Beulah Hinton, both of Aliceville; brothers Otis (Luberta) Crawford, Knoxville, Will D. (Jonetta) Crawford, Cincinnati, Ohio, Luther (Annie) Hinton, Ralph, Ala., and Mose (Tammie) Hinton, Cleveland, Ohio; brothers Tom Hinton and Earl Brizzel; special nieces Mary, Helen and Vera; nephews David and John Willie; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers were brothers and nephews.

Burial was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery with Lavender Funeral Service directing.

Lillie Pearl Turnipseed
Funeral services for Lillie Pearl Turnipseed of Aliceville were held at 11 a.m. July 14 at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. James C. Wright officiating.

She was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Jack Barnes; and son. She died July 9 at the age of 85 at Salem Nursing Home.
Survivors include her sister Annie T. Summerville, Aliceville; daughter-in-law Pam Barnes, Bronx, NY; grandchildren Sammie Barnes Jr., Kevin Barnes and Felicia Barnes, all of Bronx, NY; special niece Patricia "Sally" Eddins; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were nephews.

Burial was in Mt. Hebron Cemetery with Lavender Funeral Service directing.

Oscar Billups
Funeral services for Oscar Billups of Aliceville were held at 2 p.m. July 21 at Emory Chapel CME Church with Elder James H. Lowe officiating.

He died July 17 at the age of 68.

Survivors include his wife Mary Billups, Aliceville; sons Jessie (Nancy) Billups, Biloxi, Miss. and Curtis Billups, Aliceville; daughters Doris (Nelson) Jarrells, Juanita (David) Long, Barbara D. Billups, Ann Billups and Sandra Billups, Aliceville; brothers Frank Billups, Aliceville and Eunice Billups, Tuscaloosa; sisters Mattie Rice, Cleveland, Ohio and Maudine Craig, Eutaw; 15 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were family and friends.

Burial was in Bethany Town Cemetery with Lavender Funeral Service directing.

Ruth Hughes
Funeral services for Ruth Hughes of Millport were held at 2 p.m. July 20 at the Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Carl Sullivan and Rev. Chester Shaw officiating.

She was a native of Coffee County. She was a homemaker and attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Alexander Hughes. She died July 17 at her residence at the age of 80.

Survivors include her daughter Eva Rosaline Herron, Birmingham; two brothers, Lesley (Sidney) Sullivan and R. B. Sullivan; two sistersinlaw, Mary Sullivan and Jessie Nell Sullivan; one grandson Andrew Keith (Leithann) Herron, Birmingham; two great-granddaughters, Mattie and Alex Herron; and scores of nieces and nephews.

Nephews served as pallbearers.

Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Lamar County with Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport directing.

William Raymond Jacobs
Funeral services for William Raymond “Cooter” Jacobs of McShan were held at 11 a.m. July 19 at Arbor Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Gene Plymon and Rev. Barry Holland officiating.

He was a native of McShan. He was a member of Arbor Springs Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his first wife Vertice Shelton Jacobs; brother Troy Jacobs and sister Alma Abrams. He died July 16 at the age of 72 at his residence.

Survivors include his wife Ollie Mae Beams Jacobs, McShan; two daughters, Juanita Brownlee, Northport, and Gail Hancock, Foley; son Edward Jacobs, McShan; stepdaughter Linda Prescott, Northport; sister Jean (Thomas) Irvin, McShan; brother George (Tina) Jacobs, McShan; grandchildren Jennifer Brownlee, Tuscaloosa, Chris Brownlee, McShan and Scott Hancock, Foley; step-grandchildren Landon Prescott, Reform and Lee Prescott, Northport; two great-grandchildren; and special brother and sister in Christ, Wilford and Bonnie Kyles, Reform.

Pallbearers were Troy Jaynes, Tommy Cowart, Fred Cowart, Dock Cook, Searcy Mullinex and Harold Heritage. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the community, Dr. Janice Hudson of Fayette, Cancer Treatment Center Staff at Fayette Medical Center and Hospice Staff of Fayette Medical Center.

Burial was in Arbor Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Fayette Medical Center, 411 Fayette Square, Fayette, AL 35555.

Billy Gene McCraw
Funeral services for Billy Gene McCraw of Moline, Ill. were handled by Family Funeral Service of Colona, Ill. with burial in Green view Memorial Gardens of East Moline, Ill. Skelton Funeral Home of Reform handled local arrangements.

He was retired from Teamsters Local 371 as a truck driver with ANR Trucking in 1994. He worked part time with Enterprise Rental in Moline, Ill. He was a member of Eastern Star in Coal Valley, Ill., Masonic Eureka Lodge No. 69 in Milan, Ill., Scottish Rite in Moline, Ill., Moose Lodge in Rock Island, Ill., and Shriner’s in Davenport, Iowa. He was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship in Moline, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents William Bryce and Margie Lee Kitchens McCraw; brother William Bryce McCraw; and sister Grace McCraw. He died July 20 at Pickens County Medical Center at the age of 65.

Survivors include his wife Wanda Otts McCraw,Moline, Ill.; son Rodney (Michon) McCraw, Milan, Ill.; two stepsons, Walter McCraw, Silvis, Ill., and Michael McCraw, East Moline, Ill.; two daughters, Judy (Wayne) Mount, Bettendorf, Iowa, and Drucilla (Jeff) Bertram, Coal Valley, Ill.; stepdaughter Wendi McCraw, Silvis, Ill.; two brothers, James B. (Lonna) McCraw, Colona, Ill., and Wayne (Pam) McCraw, Milan, Ill.; two sisters, Sue Bohannon and Norma (Leroy) Boone, all of Reform; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth Annelle Summerville
Graveside services for Elizabeth Annelle Summerville were held July 24 at 3 p.m. at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Rev. Carl Dockery officiating and Memory Chapel Funeral Home directing.

She was a member of Avondale Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, and a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Thomas Manning Summerville; brother E.G. Carpenter; and sisters Alpha Lou Rowe and Bessie Will Etheridge. She died July 22.
Survivors include her nephews Mike (Martha) Lovejoy, Carl E. (Phyllis) Rowe, Edwin (Louise) Carpenter, Jerrell Johnson, all of Tuscaloosa, William Summerville, Auburn and Jim (Janice) Summerville, California.

Pallbearers were nephews and friends.

Honorary pallbearers were employees, nurses and aides of Heritage Health Care, Dr. Thomas McDermott and Associates, Dr. Steven Copeland, Dr. and Mrs. Dewight Harper, members of Avondale Presbyterian Church and Eastern Star, and Madge Pennington.

John Taylor Puckett Jr.
Graveside services for John Taylor Puckett Jr. of Carrollton were held at 11 a.m. July 26 at Carrollton City Cemetery with Rev. Larry Knedlik officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.

He was a native of Carrollton. He was a member of Carrollton United Methodist Church, a retired Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy and a lifelong resident of Pickens County. He died July 24 at the age of 70 at his residence.

Survivors include his sisters Margaret (Martin) Byars, Mobile, and Sara Knight, Grove Hill; brothers Tommy (Marjorie) Puckett, Alabaster, and Solomon (Mary Ann) Puckett, Kingston, Tenn.; and nieces and nephews Joe, Marsha Lynn, Robbin, Ann, Jean, Wanda, Pam, Cathy, Janet, Tim, Rita, Tom, Tammy, David, Bill and Joey.

Louise Warren
Funeral services for Louise Warren of Gordo were held at 12 noon July 27 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Havord Petty officiating.

She died July 20 at the age of 69 at her residence.

Burial was in Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with WashingtonPaigeRollins' Mortuary of Green sboro directing.

Daisy Lorene Harless Friday
Graveside services for Daisy Lorene Harless Friday of Gordo were held at 11 a.m. July 19 at Holly Springs Cemetery in Gordo with Rev. Hershel Owen officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.

She was a native of Pickens County. She was preceded in death by her husband Willie H. Friday Sr.; son Bruce Friday; daughter Mary Friday; sisters Lillian H. Daniel, Lela H. Lee, Laura Harless and Pearl H. Hammond; and brothers Victor Harless Sr., Earlie Harless, Elmer Harless and Woods Harless. She died July 17 at the age of 87 at her residence.

Survivors include her daughters Gail F. (Gail B.) House, Gordo, and Linda L. Friday, Tuscaloosa; son Willie Hugh "Jack" (Gina) Friday Jr., Montgomery; brother David Curtis (Nora) Harless, Tuscaloosa; grandchildren Sherri (Tim) Warner, Farmington, Minn., Sharon (Jeff) Green wood, Gordo and Sandee D. House, Decatur, Ga.; great-grandchildren Stephanie Black, Benjamin Black and Cheyenne Green wood, all of Gordo, and Morgan Green wood, Bunkie, La.; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were P. E. Lee, Randy West, Max Parham, Curtis Parham, Jeff Green wood and Alton Hugh Friday. Honorary pallbearers were Hospice of West Alabama, Able Hands Nursing Service, special caregivers: Ann Knox and Christine White, Bostic Garden Club, friends and neighbors.

Virginia S. Gaskins
Funeral services for Virginia S. Gaskins of Tuscaloosa were held at 12 noon July 17 at New Canaan Baptist Church with Rev. Lonnie Weaver officiating.

She was a native of Aliceville. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She died July 9 at the age of 93 at Forest Manor Nursing Home.

Survivors include her son Tommy Frison, Detroit, Mich.; one adopted son Joel (Cherry) Frison, Tuscaloosa; one grandson; one granddaughter; 10 great-great grandchildren; four great-great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial was in New Cemetery with Lavender Funeral Service directing.

Ethan Riley George
Graveside services for the infant Ethan Riley George of Gordo were held at 4 p.m. July 20 at West Alabama Memorial Gardens with Rev. Henry Trull officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.

He was preceded in death by great-grandparents Buster and Bertha Jones and Clayton O'Bryant. He died July 16 at Northport Medical Center.

Survivors include his parents Michael Alexander and Melisa Michelle George, Gordo; grandparents Bobby and Betty O'Bryant, Gordo; great-grandmother Ola Mae O'Bryant, Gordo; uncles Mike (Angela) O'Bryant, Ken O'Bryant, Freddie George and Frankie George; greatuncle Curtis (Doris) Jones; greataunt Linda (Henry) Trull; and cousins Amanda O'Bryant, Aaron O'Bryant, Andrew O'Bryant and Josh George.
