William Ervin Wright
Funeral services for William Ervin Wright of Carrollton were held at 11 a.m. Dec. 29 at Cross Roads Baptist Church with Rev. Rickey Jackson officiating.
He was a native and resident of Pickens County for over 62 years. He was a resident of Kosciusko, Miss. for 23 years. He worked as a carpenter, was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church for over 13 years. He died Dec. 27 at Montfort Jones Memorial in Kosciusko at the age of 85.
Survivors include his wife Eula Mae Wright, Carrollton; sons Hillory Wright, Brandon, Miss., Alton Wright, Laurel, Miss., Elton Wright, West, Miss., Hubert Wright, Paducah, Ky., and Robert Wright, Kosciusko, Miss.; sisters Frances W. Newcomb, Sandersville, Miss., and Irene Kizzire, Fayette; brother James E. Wright, Centreville; 11 grandchildren; one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Sam Wright, Dustin Wright, Wayne Wright, Walter Wright, Bill Wright and Huey Wright.
Honorary pallbearers were Sonny Ray, James Butler, Joe Pogue and Dan O’Mary.

Rebecca Boatman
Funeral services for Rebecca Boatman of Brooksville, Miss. were held Jan. 25 at Christian Hill M.B. Church with Pastor Bobby Bowen officiating.
She was a member of Christian Hill M.B. Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Walker Boatman, and daughter Mary Hendrix. She died Jan. 20 at the age of 91 at Noxubee General Hospital.
Survivors include her daughters Maude Graham, Fannie Ramsey, Macon, Miss., and Betty (Franklin Hughes), Brooksville, Miss; son-in-law Leroy Hendrix, Aliceville; 31 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons and friends.
Burial followed with Lavender Funeral Service directing.
Laura Brooke
Funeral services for Mary Laura Brooke of Aliceville were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 27 at First Baptist Church of Aliceville with Rev. Jim Cooley officiating.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Aliceville, the Lillian Nelson Sunday School Class, the WMU, Sunshine Homemakers Club of Aliceville, the Tri Arts Club and the Historical Society. She was preceded in death by her husband William Billy P. Brooke; and father Troy R. Bishop. She died Jan. 26 at the age of 69 at her residence.
Survivors include her son Keith Brooke, Birmingham; sister Ruth Davis, Tuscaloosa, and Alene Taylor, Reform; brothers Roger Bishop, Eddie Bishop and Elmore Bishop, all of Reform, Jimmy Bishop, Cecil Bishop and Murray Bishop, all of Tuscaloosa, and Walter Bishop, Cottondale; and mother Mattie Bishop, Reform.
Pallbearers were Tommy Blakney, Donny McKinzey, Ralph Brooke, Bob Brooke, Bruce Davis and Mark Davis.
Burial was in Magnolia Memorial Gardens with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.

Myra Nell Edwards Herndon
Funeral services for Myra Nell Edwards Herndon of Murray, Ky. were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 28 at Union Christian Church in Eutaw with Rev. Ken Lee officiating.
She was a retired registered nurse with the Veterans Administration Hospital, Montgomery, for over 30 years. She was born in Flomaton. She was preceded in death by her sisters Elsie Heaton and Helen Callis. She died Jan. 25 at the age of 86 at Long Term Care, Murray Calloway County Hospital, Murray, Ky.
Survivors include her sons Robert Bruce (Terry Ingram) Herndon, Birmingham, and Hugh Donald (Joyce Gould) Herndon, Murray, Ky.; brothers Wilton W. Edwards, Dayton, Ohio and Hugh T. Edwards, Lincoln, Ark.; sister Susan Snell, Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren Scott Herndon, Matthew Herndon, Josh Herndon, Angela Herndon and Betsy and Ben Character; and one great-grandchild Jonathan Luke Character.
Burial was in the Union Christian Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.

Willard E. Keasler
Funeral services for Willard E. Keasler of Reform were held at 11 a.m. Jan. 26 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Rogers and Rev. Clyde Stevens officiating.
He attended Antioch Presbyterian Church, was a retired auto body mechanic and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He died Jan. 24 at the age of 81 at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife Catherine P. Keasler, Reform; niece Vickie Keasler, Griffen, Ga.; and nephews Marion Keasler, Mobile, Kenneth Keasler, Saraland, Terry Keasler, Satsuma, Ala. and Homer Keasler Jr., Selma.
Pallbearers were Marion Keasler, Kenneth Keasler, Terry Keasler, Homer Keasler Jr., Arthur Potter Jr., Jimmy Potter, Chad Lowe and Ray Griffin.

Joan L. McDowell
Private family services for Joan L. McDowell of Fort Collins were held recently at her residence following her cremation.
She was born in Fort Lewis, Wash. She served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a nurse-captain. She married Larry McDowell in 1970. She lived in Fort Collins since 1978. She was a registered nurse working for Poudre Valley Hospital for 15 years and also for Hospice Home Care. She enjoyed sailing, gardening, traveling and have traveled by sailboat in the Caribbean and in Central America. She was preceded in death by her sister and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Mary McDowell. She died Jan. 5 at the age of 58.
Survivors include her husband Larry McDowell, Fort Collins; sons Michael E. McDowell and John T. McDowell, both of Fort Collins; and one granddaughter.

John Murphy Noland
Funeral services for John Murphy Noland of 864 Glen Echo Road were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 21 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Grady Pearson, Rev. Elliot Gray, Rev. Johnny House and Rev. Eddie Rodgers officiating.
He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he served as senior deacon and usher. He was Assistant Superintendent of the Pickens County Water Authority and a life long resident of Pickens County. He was a former employee of Huyck Felt Co. He was preceded in death by his parents Phillip Edgar and Euline Brazeal Noland. He died Jan. 18 at the age of 60 in Gordo on Hargrove Road at the Fair Trailer Park while working.
Survivors include his sister Adene Noland, Carrollton; brother Phillip Noland, Carrollton; and several cousins.
Pallbearers were Robert Sellers, Donny Noland, Luther Noland, James Bridges, Herbert House, Thomas Keasler, Donald Richardson and Kelly Adams.
Honorary pallbearers were employees of Pickens County Water Authority, former employees of Huyck Felt Company, Larry Adams and Chalmers Noland.

Lula Mae Shores
Funeral services for Lula Mae Shores of Aliceville were held at 11 a.m. Jan. 29 at Garden Baptist Church with Rev. Raymond Robertson officiating.
She was a member of Garden Baptist Church, a seamstress and member of the VFW Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband Archie Shores. She died Jan. 26 at the age of 85 at Pickens County Medical Center.
Survivors include her sisters, Leaunia Manning, Carrollton, Edna Fair, Gordo, Lois Ammons, Pickensville, and Mary (Hubert) Windle, Tuscaloosa; and brothers William (Mildred) Hayes, Aliceville, and Malcolm (Colleen) Hayes, Pinson.
Pallbearers were Billy Hayes, Jody Hayes, Johnny Stephens, Freddie Ammons, Ken Hayes and Henry Trull.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Patel, and staff of Aliceville Manor Nursing Home.

Clifton Elmore Sr.
Funeral services for Clifton Elmore Sr. of Gordo were held at 2 p.m. Nov. 18 at Gordo First Baptist Church with Rev. Farrell Cork and Rev. Pat Powell officiating.
He was a retired employee of Southern Natural Gas, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his brother Benjamin Elmore and an infant son Joseph Elmore. He died Nov. 15 at his residence at the age of 80.
Survivors include his wife Doris Floyd Elmore, Gordo; one daughter Teresa Wilson, Gordo; two sons, Lewis (Marilyn) Elmore and Charles (Robin) Elmore, all of Gordo; two sisters, Lucille Blakeney, Gordo, and Annie Elmore, Northport; two brothers, Marvin Elmore, Gordo, and Grady Elmore, Northport; four grandchildren, Jill Wilson, Daniel Wilson, Laurel Elmore, Carly Elmore, all of Gordo; and one great-grandchild Megan Sullivan, Gordo.
Nephews served as pallbearers.

Albert Harris
Funeral services for Albert Harris of Lewiston were held at 11 a.m. Nov. 10 at Sarepta Primitive Baptist Church in Lewiston with Elder Andrew Chamber officiating.
He was a native of Lewiston. He was a member and deacon of New Sarepta Primitive Baptist Church and a member of Morrow Grove Lodge No. 800. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nellie Harris and Essie P. Thompson; four brothers, Edmond Harris, James O. Harris, Nathan Harris and Jack Harris; and two sons, Virgil Rice and Druid Rice. He died Nov. 5 at the age of 83.
Survivors include his wife Minerva A. Harris; five sons, Albert Jr. (Sara) Harris, Tampa, Fla., Elbert (Rita) Harris, Brewster (Angela), both of Tuscaloosa, Charlie (Fannie) Harris, Atlanta, Ga., Eddie (Dorothy) Harris, Hal (Towanna) Harris, and Edmon Harris, all of Aliceville; eight daughters, Charlie B. Ware, New York, Pauline (Johnny) Hughes, Eutaw, Wauline Harris, Chicago, Ill., Annie J. Hudson, Albany, Ga., Grace (Ira) White, Mary Wilder, Opelia (Earnest) Summerville, and Wanda Harris, all of Aliceville, Alma (Lester) Wright, Virginia; one raised as his daughter, Tina Harris, Aliceville; two brothers, Charlie Harris and Herbert Harris, Buffalo, NY; three sisters, Mary Wilder, Eutaw, Louisa Bailey and Bertha Cornist, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; 50 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
