Funeral services for John Henry Simon of Elgin, Ill., were held at 11 a.m. Feb. 17 [2002] at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Alton Hinton officiating.
He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
He was employed with Kirby Packing, Hills McCann and Flexonic Manufacturing Co.
He was preceded in death by his mother Minnie Hicks; and sister Ida Mae Simon.
He died Feb. 11 [2002] at the age of 61 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife Mildred, Elgin, Ill.; father Webster, Russellville; brother Melvin (Edna) Hicks, Carrollton; sisters Irene Hill and Betty Blair, both of Carrollton; daughters Debra (Tesfaye) Tewolde, Elgin, Ill., and Teresa (Raymond) Smith, Plainfield, Ill.; sons John A. Simon and Webster B. Simon, both of Elgin, Ill.; brother-in-law Clark Ferguson Jr., Carrollton; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Burial was in the church cemetery with Lavender Funeral Service directing.
Lulie Walters, Sr.
Funeral services for Lulie Walters, Sr. of Ethelsville, were held at 11 a.m. Feb. 22 [2002] Elbethel Baptist Church with Rev. Jessie Noland officiating and Lavender Funeral Service directing.
He was a member of Elbethel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella mae Guyton Walters.
He died Feb. 17 [2002] at the age of 85 at Pickens County Medical Center.
Survivors include his children Florine Walters Neal, and Collis Walters, both of Ethelsville, Lulie (Anna) Walters Jr., Chicago Heights, Ill., Pauline Walters (Will) Hunt, Homewood, Ill., and Billy J. Neal, Detroit, Mich.; grandchildren Herbert Walters, Rene Walters, Linda Tellis, Patrick Neal, Kathary Johnson, Billy Neal Jr., Patty Thomas, Nieces Neal, Larry Walters, Jessica Walters and Maxine Hill; great-grandchildren Scotty Tellis, Derric Tellis, Chris Walters, Krystalyn Walters, Ambra Walters, Terrika Johnson, Alynda Johnson, Dedra Hill, Jimmeka Hill, J. P. Hill, III, Larry Darnell Hill, Dexter Thomas, Gregory Thomas, Larry Walters Jr., Kynyahta Walters, Florissa Hill, Tennyson Hill and Jimmy Darnell Hill; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Herbert Oliver Williams
Funeral services for Herbert Oliver Williams of Reform, were held at 4 p.m Feb. 23 [2002] at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Orr officiating.
He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, a retired crane operator for Ceco Steel, a member of the Alabama National Guard and a life-long resident of Pickens County.
He was preceded in death by his parents Luther and Bessie Lowe Williams; and brother Granville Williams.
He died Feb. 20 [2002] at the age of 63 at his residence.
Survivors include his son Steve (Linda) Williams, Tampa, Fla.; brother Junior Williams, Reform; and grandchildren Steven Blake Williams and Kevin Gerrod Williams.
Pallbearers were Tommy Williams, Terry Akin, Christopher Shaw, Jeff Crocker, Donald Daniels and Ronnie Vinson.

Cecil D. Duncan
Graveside services for Cecil D. Duncan of Reform, were held at 11 a.m. March 20 at Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Rickey Jackson officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
He was a native of Pickens County, a retired employee of Eastern Airlines and a U.S. Army Veteran of Korea.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hugh and Beulah Duncan and six brothers.
He died March 18 [2002] at the age of 67 at his residence.
Survivors include his sisters Mary Murphy, Birmingham, Becky Pidde, South Carolina, Norma Miller, Mt. Vernon, and Betty Lancaster, Carrollton; brothers Jerry Duncan, Okeechobee, Florida, and Clyde Cartee and Verdo Cartee, both of Mobile; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Elease Oglesby
Funeral services for Elease Oglesby of Gordo, were held at 2 p.m. March 21 at Crossroads Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Robbins and Bro. Shawn McDaniel officiating.
She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and a retired employee of American Bosch.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Tammy Appleby.
She died March 19 [2002] at the age of 71 at Northport Medical Center.
Survivors include her daughter Linda (Thomas) Thorton, Gordo; sisters Annette Mills and Gladys Pate, both of Millport, and Helen (Bobby) Pate, Gordo; brother Junior (Ruby) Oglesby, Gordo; grandchildren Lynn (Wilford) Shirley and Tim (Lanetta) Weatherly, both of Gordo; and nine great-grandchildren.

Jackie Pate
Funeral services for Jackie Pate of Aliceville, were held at 3 p.m. March 25 at First Baptist Church of Aliceville, with Rev. Jim Cooley and Rev. Larry Potts officiating.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Aliceville, a homemaker, former employee of Westinghouse, a retired deli manager for Jitney Jungle, a member of the Aliceville Homemakers Club, and a life-long resident of Pickens County.
She died March 23 [2002] at the age of 70 at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home.
Survivors include her husband Thomas L. Pate, Aliceville; daughter Jean (Stanley) Eatman, Carrollton; son Tommy (Sandra) Pate, Gordo; sisters Faye (Don) Hackworth, Chandler, Okla., Betty (David) Tilley, Columbus, Miss., and Janet (Thomas) Rester, Tuscaloosa; brother Bill (Peggy) Allen, Houston, Texas; grandchildren Stan (Christie) Eatman, Lynn (Bryan) Potts, Eric (Tracy) Eatman, Ashley (Glen) Junkins, Coley (David) Blakney and Lindsey Pate; and great-grandchildren Justin Eatman, Victoria Eatman, Kyle Eatman, Michael Potts, Logan Potts, Brooke Eatman and David Branham.

Roy Lee Harcrow
Funeral services for Roy Lee Harcrow of McShan, were held at 2 p.m. March 29 at Crossroads Baptist Church in Carrollton, with Rev. Ricky Jackson and Rev. Steve Lammons officiating.
He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church, the American Legion and the VFW.
He was a retired employee with 33 years of service to McShan Lumber Company, and a veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy Harcrow.
He died March 29 [2002] at the age of 80 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife Louise Hill Harcrow, McShan; daughters Mamie Nell Dickson, Northport, and Pauline McCrackin and Joyce O'Mary, both of Gordo; step-daughter Rita Inman, Columbus, Miss.; brother James Harcrow, Reform; sisters Mamie Sobley and Annie Oglesby, both of Reform; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.

Jessie Macrae Harris
Funeral services for Jessie Macrae Harris of Columbus, Miss., were held at 2 p.m. March 28 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Sexton officiating.
He was a native of Winfield, and lived in the Columbus area for 42 years.
He was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church.
He was a retired truck driving instructor for Golden Triangle VoTech and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He died March 27 [2002] at the age of 77 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife Anna H. Harris, Columbus, Miss.; daughter Myrtle H. (Charles) Buchanan, Columbus, Miss.; son Larry Macrae (Teresa) Harris, Memphis, Tenn.; sisters Gerline Sexton, Brilliant, and Bertie Mae Box, Selma; brother Romer Harris, Littleville; grandchildren Kelly Buchanan, Donna (Dennis) Bennett and Wayne (Theresa) Kidder, all of Columbus, Miss., Beth (Larry) Skelton, Carrollton, Jody Harris, Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Jennifer Harris, Birmingham; and great-grandchildren Haley Bennett, Rebekah Skelton, Greydon Kidder and Kimberly Bennett.

J. T. Johnson
Graveside services for James Thomas "J.T." Johnson of Demopolis, were held at 10 a.m. March 30 at Fellowship Cemetery with Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors of Demopolis directing.
He was a former resident of Pickens County and lived in Demopolis for a number of years.
He was self-employed in the construction business.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean conflict.
He was a Mason and a Methodist.
He was preceded in death by his son Tommy Johnson.
He died March 28 [2002] at the age of 73 at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his daughter Stephanie A. Johnson, Chattanooga, Tenn.; sons Owen H. (Cindy) Johnson, Fayetteville, Tenn., and Marvin A. "Buddy" Johnson, Demopolis; mother Edith Latham, Demopolis; and four grandchildren.
Fred Price, Jr.
Funeral services for Fred Price, Jr. of Columbus, Miss., were held at 2 p.m. March 26 at Fairview Baptist Church with Bro. Mickey Dalrymple and Bro. Steve Lammons officiating.
He was a lifetime resident of the Columbus area and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He served in the United States Navy as a Boatsman Mate 3rd Class from 1950-1954.
He retired from Bell South in 1983 after serving over 29 years as a System Technician.
He was the president of the Golden Triangle Telephone Pioneers, a member of the Missions Service Corps and Campers on Mission.
He was preceded in death by his brothers James A. Price and Everett L. Price.
He died March 23 [2002] at the age of 71 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife Mae Price, Columbus, Miss.; son Kelley Price, Columbus, Miss.; daughter Anna Eaves, Butler; sister Mildred Jaynes, Marion, Ill.; and grandchildren Matthew Eaves, Dustin Eaves, Timothy Eaves, Lauren Price and Stephanie Price.
Pallbearers were Dustin Eaves, Matthew Eaves, Billy Price, Mike Price, Justin Price and Chris Sansing.
