Price Skelton
Funeral services for Price Skelton of Millport, were held at 2 p.m. Oct. 3 at Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Aldridge and Rev. Steve Lammons officiating.
He was a member of Springhill Baptist Church and served as a deacon at Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was a native of Pickens County. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in Normandy, Central Europe, Rhineland Ardennes and Northern France. He received a European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with one Silver Star and an American Defense Service Medal for Good Conduct. He was a retired timber buyer. He died Sept. 30 [2000] at the age of 82.
Survivors include his wife Bertha Clemmons Skelton, Millport; daughter Jean Seto, Columbus, Miss.; son Steve Skelton, Tuscaloosa; sisters Earline Campbell and Mary Skelton, both of Reform, and Lucille Burks, Kennedy; and grandchildren Renee and Stan Skelton, both of Tuscaloosa, and Grant Seto, Columbus, Miss.
Pallbearers were Thomas Fields, Davis Shaw, Greg Turner, Stacy Palmer, Billy Bolling and Keith Perrigin. Honorary pallbearers were Benson Shaw, Clyde Cash, Billy Smith, Joyce Sullivan, Dr. Lee Richardson, Dr. Phillip Walther, Springhill Community, employees of Twin States, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Clemmons, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Puckett and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Franke.

James Washington
Funeral services for James Washington of Aliceville, were held at 2 p.m. Oct. 6 at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. John Billups officiating.
He was a native of North Carolina. He was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church and retired from the New York Metropolitan Transit Authority. He was preceded in death by his son Barry Washington. He died Oct. 29 [2000] at the age of 56.
Survivors include his wife Emma Washington; son Darel (Linda) Washington, Tuscaloosa; grandsons Darius, Timothy, Leandrew and Larry, all of Tuscaloosa; brother Joseph Washington, New York; uncle Jessie Drakeford, North Carolina; aunts Lilla Edwards, Brooklyn, NY, Susie Tucker Jackson, Charlotte, NC, Mary Wilson, New Jersey, and Sally Simmons, Pennsylvania; brothers-in-law Johnnie (Margaret) B. McCaa, Colorado Springs, Colo., Jim (Katie) McCaa, Jr. and Willie Earl (Beatrice) McCaa, Chicago; sisters-in-law Ida Mae (Felix) Mohead, Irene (Willie) Taylor, Icie Woolridge and Dorothy (Hoover) Ann Clark, Aliceville; and several nieces and nephews.

Joe Mack Wilder
Funeral services for Joe Mack Wilder of Gordo, were held at 1 p.m. Sept. 30 at Oak Grove CME Church with Rev. Willie C. Jackson officiating.
He was a native of Gordo. He was preceded in death by his parents Mitchel Wilder and Leola Walters. He died Sept. 25 [2000] at the age of 38.
Survivors include his brothers Mitchel Wilder, Jr., Ellis Wilder, Tuscaloosa, Jessie Wilder, Northport, Jerry Wilder, Ethelsville, Willie (LaShawn) Walters and Calvin (Sabrina) Walters, both of Northport; sisters Sylvia (William) Davis, Tuscaloosa, Lydia Wilder and Clara (John) Seay, both of Gordo, and Betty (Eddie) Harris, Reform; five uncles; seven aunts; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were brothers and cousins.

Wilburn Oscar Bridges
Funeral services for Wilburn Oscar Bridges of Gordo, were held at 10 a.m. Nov. 25 at Sand Springs Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Sims officiating.
He was a member of Sand Springs Methodist Church. He was self-employed, an Army veteran of World War II and a life-long resident of Pickens County. He was preceded in death by his wife Lottie Sullivan Bridges; and son Kenneth Bridges. He died Nov. 21 [2000] at age of 82 at Carraway Methodist Hospital.
Survivors include his son Roger (Amanda) Bridges, Gordo; sister Lois Bailey, Gordo; brother Milton Bridges, Gordo; special daughters-in-law Jean Bridges and Elaine Bridges; grandchildren Tracy (Bailey) Bridges, Jennifer (David) DeSalvo, Debbie (Tommy) Howell, and Mark (Marsha) Bridges; and great-grandchildren Tommy Howell, Cole Bridges and Devin DeSalvo.

Nell Powers Brockway

She was a member of Panola United Methodist Church and a retired farmer. She was preceded in death by her husband William Gray Brockway, Jr.; and daughter Bobbie Brockway Moore. She died Nov. 22 [2000] at the age of 84 at Pickens County Medical Center.
Survivors include her daughters Betty Brockway Moore, Birmingham, and Lucinda Brockway Cameron, Panola; brother Eames A. Powers, Lynchburg, Va.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Jeroline Buckman

She was a native of Kentucky and a retired employee of Phillip Morris. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Columbus, Miss. She was preceded in death by a son Billy Gentleman; and brother Wesley Bledsoe. She died Nov. 19 [2000] at the age of 69 at Pickens County Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband Joseph Buckman, Reform; daughter, Glenda Adcock, Reform; sons John D. Gentleman, Louisville, Ky. and James Gentleman, Reform; sisters Marie Cottrell, Litchville, Ky., and Myra Rowe, Louisville, Ky.; brothers Ray Bledsoe, Cincinnati, Ohio, Gene Bledsoe, Louisville, Ky., and Paul Bledsoe, Clarksville, Ind.; grandchildren Tracy Hardy and Amy Gentleman, both of Reform, and Kristi Denner, Stacey Woodson, Jennifer Atzinger and Natasha Corum, all of Louisville, Ky.; and eight great-grandchildren.

Etta Oree Johnson
Funeral services for Etta Oree Johnson of Aliceville, were held at 11 a.m. Nov. 24 at West End Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Griffin officiating.
She was a member of West End Baptist Church for 42 years and served as President and member of Faith Few Sunday School Class. She was a retired employee of Aliceville Cotton Mill after 22 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband John Henry Johnson; and a son Buddy Johnson. She died Nov. 21 [2000] at the age of 74 at DCH in Tuscaloosa.
Survivors include her daughters Gloria "Midget" (Wayne) Jones, Enterprise, Miss., and Beth (Joe) Stewart, Aliceville; son Tommy (Judy) Johnson and Rick (Sarah) Johnson, both of Aliceville; brothers Joe (Edith) Cullum, Enterprise, Miss., and Clyde (Hazel) Cullum, Irving, Tex.; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Johnnie Parker McCool
Funeral services for Johnnie Parker McCool of Tallulah, La., were held at 10 a.m. Nov. 20 at the Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel in Tallulah, with Rev. Richard Taylor officiating.
He was a native of Aliceville and a retired Army veteran. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He died Nov. 17 [2000] at the age of 72 at his residence.

Eloise M. Speed
Funeral services for Eloise Miller Speed of Aliceville, were held at 11 a.m. Nov. 27 at Aliceville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Arthur Finch officiating.
She was a native of Marengo County. She graduated from Auburn University in 1934 and became a school teacher for the Pickens County Board of Education for 20 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Aliceville and an avid bridge player. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Speed. She died Nov. 24 [2000] at the age of 87 at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home.
Survivors include her daughters Sharon S. Condon, Sandra S. Kovacs and Jeff Speed, all of Atlanta; sister Mamie M. Horn, Columbiana; brother Edwin H. Miller, Anniston; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Johnnie Marlin Taylor
Funeral services for Johnnie Marlin Taylor of Pleasant Grove, Ala., were held at 3 p.m. Nov. 26 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brannon Pinion and Rev. Wyatt Rhone officiating.
He was a native of Reform where he resided until his recent move for health reasons to Pleasant Grove. He was a member of the Reform First Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a former sheriff's deputy, former insurance manager and a retiree of the Pickens County Road Department. He died Nov. 22 [2000] at the age of 76 at Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Wilma Wyatt Taylor, Pleasant Grove; daughter Tamara (Bill) Taylor Sapp, Pleasant Grove; son John (Marie) F. Taylor, Bluff Park; and sister Marguerite O'Briant, Reform.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Taylor, Richard O'Briant, Gary Johnson, Phillip Johnson, Richard Rhone and David Wyatt.
