"Bub" Tilley
Funeral services for James Edward "Bub" Tilley of Gordo, were held at 11 a.m. Nov. 22 at Gordo First Baptist Church with Bro. Marc Howard and Bro. Johnye Horton officiating.
He was a member of Gordo First Baptist Church and the Gordo Masonic Lodge No. 564. He died Nov. 20 [2000] at the age of 70 at DCH Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his brother Herbert Tilley.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Letha Dillard Tilley, Gordo; daughter Charlotte (Dennis) Pugh, Reform; son James (Margaret) S. Tilley, Gordo; grandchildren, Nikki (Jason) Mullenix, Justin (Mystie) Tilley, both of Gordo, and Kristel Pugh, Reform; great-grandchildren, Colby Gaddy, Devin Tilley and Cabel Mullenix, all of Gordo.
Pallbearers were Sid Tilley, Randy Dillard, Tim Dillard, Todd Dillard, Ken Elmore, Donald Pritchett, Larry Sanders and Bert Stephens.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Gordo First Baptist Church, members of the Central Alabama Christian Builders, Martha Stephens, Tina Kelley, friends and neighbors of the Gordo Community, Dr. John Brandon, Dr. Chelly Alexander, Dr. Jeffrey Anderson, Dr. John Ferguson, and the Early Morning Coffee Drinkers at Bullets.
Burial was in Gordo City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
Willie F. Duncan

Died Aug. 18, 2000
Funeral services for Willie F. Duncan of Demopolis were held at 1 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel.
She was a retired housewife. She was a member of Ebenezer Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tee Duncan, a daughter Dorothy Etheridge, and two granddaughters, Phyllis and Robin Duncan.
Survivors include two sons, James (Sibyl) Duncan, Eutaw, and Leon (Barbara) Duncan, Baker, La.; daughter Juanita (Ottis) Bradford, Franklinton, La.; son-in-law W. G. Etheridge, Demopolis; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Great-grandsons served as pallbearers.
Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery in Lamar County with Dowdle Funeral Home directing.
Viola Jones
Funeral services for Viola Jones of Carrollton, were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 15 [2000] at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Billups officiating.
She was a native of Carrollton. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands Lloyd Ball and Roy Jones; daughter Hattie Mae Ferguson; a brother Isaac Stewart Jr. and a sister Maggie Wilder. She died Aug. 10 at Pickens County Medical Center at the age of 84.
Survivors include two daughters, Rozzie (David) Patterson, Rockingham, NC, and Nannie Lee Hayes, Carrollton; one son Albert Louis Ball, Carrollton; six granddaughters, Belinda (Winford) Bethea, Flushing, NY, Teresa Smith, Eufaula, Glenda (Percy) Jones, Annette (Limuel) Askelo, Patricia (Lucian III) Gill, all of Dothan, Joyce Smith, Columbus, Miss.; three grandsons, Steve (Linda) Billups, Jamaica, NY, Harold Smith, Carrollton, and Albert L. Ball Jr., Elgin, Ill.; 16 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons and friends served as pallbearers.
Burial was in Sinai Cemetery with Lavender Funeral Service directing.
Geraldine P. McGee
Funeral services for Geraldine P. McGee of Gordo, were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 17 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Cotton Robertson officiating.
She was a Jehovah's Witness and a homemaker. She died Aug. 14 [2000] at the age of 71 at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband Eugene D. McGee, Gordo; sons Dudley (Lottie) E. McGee and Mike (Sam) McGee, both of Gordo; sister Frances Kilburn, Athens; brother Victor Pate, Northport; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers were Troy McGee, Albert McGee Jr., Larry McGee, Berry McGee, Bill Cooper and James Pate.

Mary Virginia McCafferty Stephens
Funeral services for Mary Virginia McCafferty Stephens of Reform, were held at 3 p.m. Aug. 14 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Posey and Rev. Dan Turman officiating.
She was a life-long member of Garden Baptist Church of Aliceville. She was retired from Huyck Felt in Aliceville and also worked at the Aliceville Cotton Mill for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband Bennie Vernon Stephens; son Charles Virgil Stephens; and grandson Brandt Stephens. She died Aug. 12 [2000] at the age of 88 at her daughter's residence.
Survivors include her daughters Pat Bain and Allene Clemmons, both of Reform, and Kate Stephens, Scottsboro; son Henry (Linda) Stephens, Coker; sister Annie Jones, Northport; brother Robert (Doris) McCafferty, Aliceville; grandchildren Charlene (Allen) Moorehead, Michele (Jeff) Snyder, Trina (George) Lambert, Chuck Ryland, Wayne (Carol) Marlowe, Aubrey Marlowe, Kenny (Rita) Marlowe, Deedera Rhodes, Gwen Jones, Jay Bain, Hank (Dana) Stephens; 27 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; special niece Diane Findley; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jay Bain, Allen Marlowe, Joseph Marlowe, Kenny Marlowe, Stephen Moorehead, Chuck Ryland and Hank Stephens.
Honorary pallbearers were Aubrey Marlowe, Wayne Marlowe, Allen Moorehead, Jeff Snyder, Dr. Lee Richardson, Dr. John Mantle, nurses and staff of Pickens County Home Health Care and many friends whom she loved so dearly throughout her life.

Thomas Edward Stone, Sr.
Memorial services for Thomas Edward Stone, Sr. of Reform, were held recently in Henderson, Ky. with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform handling the local arrangements.
He was a retired oil field worker for Crescent Drilling Co., a member of the American Legion and served in the ArmyAir Force in the Philippines. He was preceded in death by his daughter Lisa Hall. He died Aug. 13 [2000] at the age of 72 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife Joyce Stone; sons Thomas Stone, Jr. and Glen Stone; daughters Martha Evans, Charlotte Heid and Barbara Eichen; brothers Marlin Stone and Earl DeLong; sisters Betty Watson and Annie Moyer; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Jimmy Carl Brown
Funeral services for Jimmy Carl Brown of Rt. 1 Boligee, were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 31 at Stabler-Robbins Chapel in Reform with Bro. Larry Reece officiating.
He was preceded in death by his mother Patsy Brown. He died Aug. 29 [2000] at the age of 36 at his residence.
Survivors include his father Carl W. Brown, Boligee; sisters Cynthia Ann Williams, Millport, Mary Ann Kornegay, Centerville, Ala., and Wanda B. Duncan, Gordo; brother M. R. Cook, Reform; special aunt Margie, Millport; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers were Brian Cook, Shane Cook, Jason Kornegay, Lance Kornegay, Scottie Hubbard and Shane Fields.

Vassie Rona Koon Brown
Funeral services for Vassie Rona Koon Brown of Tuscaloosa, formerly of Gordo, were held Sept. 2 at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home in Northport with Dr. Ervin Cook officiating.
She was a long time member of Tuscaloosa Chapter 395 Order of Eastern Star, holding various offices and stations through her years of membership. Her love of flowers and gardening led to memberships in several local garden clubs, including the Rainbow Garden Club. She was an active member of Alberta Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, W. H. and Ella Koon, and her husband Clarence Jackson Brown who died six days prior to their 70th wedding anniversary in 1985. She died Aug. 29 [2000] at DCH Regional Medical Center at the age of 102.
Survivors include her children Pauline B. Blakeney of Greeneville, Tenn., Lillian B. Brown, and Dr. Jack C. Brown (his wife Lou) of Tuscaloosa; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Grandsons and great-grand sons served as pallbearers. The family relayed special thanks to Evelyn Hardy and the staff of LaRocco Nursing Home for the tender loving care they gave her over the past eight years.
Burial followed at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Edward Cunningham
Funeral services for Edward Cunningham of McShan, were held at 10 a.m. Aug. 26 at Phoenix Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with Rev. Barbara Guyton officiating.
He was a native of Pickens County. He was a member of Phoenix CME Church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and served in the Air Force from 1950 to 1958. He owned and managed his own contracting company, specializing in brick masonry. He died Aug. 24 [2000] at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa at the age of 70.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Cunningham, Detroit, Mich., Veronica Perryman, Birmingham, and Cassandra Cunningham, Atlanta, Ga..; four sons, Melvin Cunningham, Columbus, Miss., Edward Cunningham, Atlanta, Ga.,, McKinley (Frauke) Cunningham, El Paso, Tex., and Otis Griffin, Los Angeles, Cal.; one great-grandchild; one sister Ella Hill, Parrish; one aunt Olene Easterwood, McShan; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Burial was in the church cemetery with Lavender Funeral Service directing.
Alice R. Johnson
Funeral services for Alice R. Johnson of Reform, were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 29 at Arbor Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Brannon Pinion and Rev. Geary Hewett officiating.
She was a member of Arbor Springs Baptist Church and a homemaker. She died Aug. 26 [2000] at the age of 71 at her residence.
Survivors include her husband James Doyle Johnson, Reform; daughter Doylene (Ronnie) Oswalt, New Hope, Miss.; sons Clyde (Wanda) Stevens, Fayette, and Bruce Stevens, Orlando; sisters Julia (Jimmy) Lee and Linda (John) Gamble, both of Tuscaloosa, and Bunny (David) Lee, Ralph; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Roosevelt Turner, Cleo Kyles, Hubert Kelley, Greg Turner, Bob Pate and Dale Shelton.
