Ronny Knox
Funeral services for Ronny Vann Knox of Pickensville, were held at 11 a.m. Sept. 1 at First Baptist Church of Pickensville, with Bro. Tim Jones and Dr. Jim Cooley officiating.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pickensville.
He received an associates degree in machinist and numerical control from Shelton State and was employed 11 years with Weyerhaeuser Paper Mill in Columbus.
He died Aug. 29 [2000] at the age of 35.
Survivors include his mother Elizabeth C. Knox, Aliceville; father Richard L. Knox Sr., Aliceville; brother Richard L. (Susan) Knox Jr., Meridian, Miss.; nephews Brian and Daniel Knox; and grandmother Virginia W. Knox, Dadeville.
Pallbearers were Gerry Tucker, John Robbins, Marshall Puckett, Timmy Gates, David Jones, Gerald Noland, Jeff Lewis and Joe Lewis.
Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Edwards, Bill Wealsey, Tommy Whigham, Michael Buxton, Toni O'Neil, Alan Crane, Damon Beasley, Ray Shelton, Doug Harmon, Freddie Ammons, Tony Fuller and Doug Fikes.
Burial was in Franconia Cemetery with StablerRobbins Funeral Home of Aliceville directing.

Opal G. Tilley
Funeral services for Opal G. Tilley of Reform, were held at 11 a.m. Sept. 2 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Bro. Adam Homan, Rev. Lindsey Watkins and Rev. Eugene Junkin officiating.
She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
She was a retired child nutritionist for the Pickens County Board of Education, and a lifelong resident of Pickens County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Lee Tilley; and son Aristo Tilley.
She died Aug. 31 [2000] at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her daughters Diane (Jimmy) Vaughn, Coker, Marion (David) Martin, Reform, June (Rick) Waldrop, Tuscaloosa, and Judy (Mike) Aldridge, Florence, Ala.; sons James (Doris) Tilley and Richard Tilley, both of Reform; grandchildren, Sharon Jimerson, Kim Woods, Jamie Tilley, Michael Tilley, Melissa Kelley, Justin Vaughn, Lisa Aldridge, Scott Tilley, Kristi Tilley Lockhart and Jason Trull; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were David Martin, Jimmy Vaughn, Mike Aldridge, Rick Waldrop, Jamie Tilley and Benji Kelley.
The family wishes to thank Dr. John Brandon, Dr. Jacqueline Ansell, nurses of TSICU at DCH, her friends, and friends of the family.

Henry White
Funeral services for Henry White of Austin, Tex., were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 26 at the Lavender Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. D. Johnson officiating.
He was a graduate of Carrollton High School and later joined the U.S. Army.
He lived in Austin, Tex. and was a member of Gildon Creek First Baptist Church where he became an ordained minister.
He died Aug. 11 [2000] in Austin, Tex., at the age of 43.
Survivors include one son Brandon Lewis, Austin, Tex.; seven brothers, Willie White, John Lee White, Bob White and Raymond White, all of Carrollton, Lee Davis White, Reform, Tommy White, Gordo, and John Willie White, Brooksville, Miss.; three sisters, Mary Jane White, Laura White and Fannie White, all of Carrollton; one uncle Willie White, Gordo; a devoted friend Terry Carwell, Austin, Tex.; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Brothers served as pallbearers.
Burial was in Sinai Cemetery with Lavender Funeral Service directing.
Gladys L. Cabiness
Funeral services for Gladys L. Cabiness of Gordo, were held at 11 a.m. Sept. 6 at Sand Springs Methodist Church with Rev. George Jackson and Rev. Mike Bush officiating.
She was a member of Sand Springs Methodist Church where she sometimes served as pianist.
She was a life-long resident of Pickens County.
She was preceded in death by her husband Doyle Cabiness.
She died Sept. 3 [2000] at the age of 84 at Heritage Health Care Center.
Survivors include three daughters, Lorene (Malone) Williams and Elizabeth (Julius) Hale, both of Tuscaloosa, and Elsie (Travis) Booth, Buhl; son Rev. Nelson (Patricia) Cabiness, Gordo; brother Roy Elmore, Columbus, Miss.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Daryl Hale, Phillip Booth, Jack Hale, Malone Williams, Greg Cooper and Garnett Miller.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Thomas McDermott, the staff of Heritage Health Care Center, and many friends of Gordo.

Elzy Little

He was a native of Lowndes County, Miss.
He was a member of Baptist Grove MB Church.
He was a logger and a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife Callie Little.
He died Aug. 28 [2000] at the age of 95 at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home.
Survivors include his son Eddie James Little; and several nieces and nephews.
Nephews served as pallbearers.

Mary Lou McCarthy
Funeral services for Mary Lou McCarthy of Detroit, Mich., were held at 11 a.m. Sept. 2 at Owens Chapel CME Church with Rev. J.J. Williams officiating.
She was a native of Carrollton.
She was a member of Carter Metropolitan CME Church, Detroit, and a member of the Stewardess Board No. 2.
She was preceded in death by her son, James Henry, Jr.
She died Aug. 26 [2000] at the age of 90.
Survivors include her daughter, Eleanor (Bobby) Mathews, Fairport, NY; granddaughters, Phyllis Lawson, Penfield, NY, and Nedra (Oatis) Barnes, Atlanta, Ga.; grandson, Gary Mathews, Plainfield, N.J.; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Curtis Lee Morrow

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mattie Morrow.
He died Aug. 21 [2000] at the age of 38 at Brookwood Medical Center.
Survivors include his sisters, Sarah Temple and Willie Hines, both of Carrollton, and Linda Reed, New Jersey; aunt Bessie Dumas, Winslock, Conn.; uncles Walter Jemison, Carrollton, and Jack Prude, Buronia, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews.

Ellis H. Price
Funeral services for Ellis H. Price of Churchville, Md., were held 10 a.m. Aug. 25 at McComas Funeral Home in Abingdon, Md., with Rev. Steve Stubblefield officiating.
He was a native of Ethelsville.
He worked as an operating engineer for the U.S. government and was a member of the Masonic Stevenson Lodge No. 136 and Golden Age Club of Churchville. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He died Aug. 22 [2000] at the age of 95 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Hash Price; and daughter, Sally G. Price, Churchville.
Burial was in Deer Creek Harmony Presbyterian Cemetery in Darlington, with McComas Funeral Home directing.
Dennis L. Sagely
Graveside services for Dennis L. Sagely of Carrollton, were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 9 at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery with Rev. Ben Styles and Rev. Rodney Hedrick officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
He was a graduate of Carrollton High School, an iron worker, and a life-long resident of Pickens County.
He was preceded in death by his father L. D. Sagely.
He died Sept. 7 [2000] at the age of 40 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Sagely, Carrollton; step-daughter, Bethany McDonald, Carrollton; son, Dennis Clay Sagely, Tuscaloosa; stepsons, Adam McDonald, Luke McDonald and Jeremy McDonald, all of Carrollton; sister, Gina (Larry) Richardson, Marshall, Tex.; and mother, Amanda Sagely, Carrollton.

Oweta Hudson Smith
Graveside services for Oweta J. Hudson Smith of Grand Prairie, Tex., were held at 10 a.m. Aug. 31 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with Ray Funeral Home of Cleveland directing.
She was a native of Columbus, Miss.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville, and a native of Columbus, Miss.
She graduated from Draughton's Business College.
She was employed as a bookkeeper at the Grand Prairie Police Department and Public Safety Department until her retirement.
She was an active member of the Grand Prairie Senior Citizens Organization and a Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Tex. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Smith.
She died Aug. 28 [2000] at the age of 76 at her residence.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Katherine Ezelle, Cleveland, Margaret J. Warnock, Moorhead, and Patricia Ann Worsham, Grenada; son, John Gary Smith, Cleveland; sister, Loretta Medley, Aliceville; brothers, Murphy Hudson, Los Angeles, Robert Dickens, Millington, Tenn., and Jack Dickens, Maurnelle, Ark; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
