Walter F. Wheat, Sr.
Graveside services with full Masonic rites for Walter F. Wheat, Sr. of Carrollton, were held at 11 a.m. Sept. 5 at Carrollton City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
He was a member of the Methodist faith and the Carrollton Masonic Lodge No. 214, a retired police officer and a life-long resident of Pickens County.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Ann Wheat; daughter, Judy W. Roskos; and son-in-law, Harold W. Reynolds.
He died Sept. 2 [2000] at the age of 82 at Southland Nursing Home, Marion.
Survivors include his daughter, Jane Reynolds, Scottsboro; sons, T. R. "Dick" (Phyllis) Wheat, Grand Bay, and W. F. "Frank" Wheat Jr., Louisiana; sisters, Dorothy Strawn, Aliceville, and Eulene Carr, Columbus, Miss.; brother, Bascomb Wheat, Reform; grandchildren, Sally Reynolds, Robin Harden, Wes Reynolds, Ken Wheat, Tom Wheat, Susan Chandler, Katie Wheat Kendrick, Joan Jones, Dr. John Roskos, Tish Wheat, Josh Wheat, Dusty Wheat and William Wheat; and great-grandchildren, Ann Wesley Harden, Claire Elizabeth Harden, Sarah Dianne Jones, Courtney Erin Wheat, Kirsten Ashley Wheat, Catherine Britton Jones, Darby Grace Wheat, Christopher Kyle Chandler, Payton Elizabeth Kendrick, Jacob Wesley Reynolds, Morgan Cacyce Reynolds and John Michael Roskos, III; and son-in-law, Johnny Roskos, Carrollton.
Virginia Windham
Funeral services for Virginia Windham of Reform, were held at 1 p.m. Sept. 7 at New Providence Baptist Church with Rev. George R. Clancy officiating.
She was a member of New Providence Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Windham, and daughter, Connie Dean.
She died Sept. 1 [2000] at the age of 91.
Survivors include her children Jessie (Phyllis) James Windham, Carrollton, Eva Windham, Bobby (Evelyn) John Windham and Benny Marzette Windham, all of Reform, Ada (Harvey) Mae Davis, St. Louis, Mo., Samuel (Joan) Windham, Hempstead, NY, and Roosevelt Windham, Tuscaloosa; sister Lou Dummen, Reform; 34 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Charles Atkins, Anthony Guyton, James Windham Jr., Joseph Dantzler, Larry Guyton and Wilmer Davis.
Burial was in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery with Lavender Funeral Service directing.
James Paul Booker
Graveside services for James Paul Booker of Aliceville, were held at 2 p.m. May 10 at Franconia Cemetery with Bro. Mike Griffin officiating and Stabler-Robbins Funeral Home of Aliceville directing.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jessie Lou Mulligan Booker.
He died May 8 [2000] at the age of 86 at Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva, Ala.
Survivors include his daughters, Peggy Booker Jones, Columbus, Miss., and Joyce Westbrook, Geneva; son Charles Booker, Memphis, Tenn.; sister, Carolyn Gore, Birmingham; brother, William Andrew Booker, Jr., Decatur; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

James E. Hall Sr.
Funeral services for James E. Hall, Sr. of Reform were held at 2 p.m. May 11 at Carrollton Baptist Church with Rev. Ben Styles officiating.
He was employed as a truck driver for TriCo Oil Co. in Reform.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Hazel Hall.
He died May 8 [2000] at the age of 57 at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Linda P. Hall, Reform; daughters Laura H. (Allen) Russell, Carrollton, Tammy Lishman, Reform, and Pam (Robert) Dobbs, Hamilton, Miss.; son James E. Hall Jr., Gordo; sister Marilyn Barfield; brothers Mack Davis, Kenneth Davis, Ricky Hall, Kenneth Hall and David Hall; and 11 grandchildren.

Thomas Ferrel Harris
Graveside services for Thomas Ferrel Harris of Pikeville, Ky., were held at 3 p.m. May 9 at Cox Farm Estates with Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville directing.
He was a native of Pickens County. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Pikeville.
He was a professional race car driver with the American Race Car Association and a self-employed coal operator.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Albert Thomas and Willie Jewel Lemons Harris.
He died May 7 [2000] at the age of 59 at Pikeville Methodist Hospital.
Survivors include his wife Bobbie Harris; son, Charles Randall Salyers, Cox Farm Estates; daughters Connie S. Mabel Schmitz
A private burial service for Mabel Schmitz of Springfield, Mo., was held recently in Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield, with Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home directing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J. R. and Maggie Sanders of Aliceville, five brothers and a sister.
She lives in Memphis, St. Louis, Kansas City, Fort Smith, Ark., Thayer, Mo., and Armory, Miss. and moved to Springfield in 1957.
She died May 6 [2000] at the age of 98 at Manorcare Health Services in Springfield.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Schmitz; sons Paul and James; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Clarice S. Thaxton

Miriam S. Wooten

She was a member of the Gordo First United Methodist Church.
She was an employee of the U.S. Postal Service, serving as a mail carrier for the Gordo community.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Elizabeth Sherrill.
She died May 7 [2000] at the age of 56 at Cooper Green Hospital in Birmingham.
Survivors include her daughters Kristi Charles, Birmingham, and Shannon (Frank) Garner, Gordo; son Jeff (Jquan) Wooten, Russellville; and grandchildren Mallory, Spencer and Meredith Wooten, all of Russellville, Jordan and Zackery Parker, both of Tuscaloosa, and Kayla Dunn, Gordo.

She was a member of West End Baptist Church and the Faithful Few Sunday School Class.
She was retired from Stevens Fashions/Country Miss. She was preceded in death by her husband L. D. Carroll; mother Maggie Nell Gilliam; father Renley Gilliam; and brother Nathan Gilliam.
She died June 7 [2000] at the age of 74 at Pickens County Medical Center.
Survivors include her daughters Nell (Sammie) Howard, Ginger (Pete) Puckett, and Alice (Lonnie) Jones, all of Carrollton; son Robert (Kathy) Earl Carroll, Carrollton; sisters Gladys (Jacki) Carroll and Etta Mae Jones, both of Aliceville, and Mae Ola Nance, Pickensville; brothers Bobby Gilliam, Aliceville, J. Virgil W. Clemons, Jr.
Graveside services for Virgil W. Clemons, Jr. of Columbus, Ga., were held at 11 a.m. June 5 at Main Post Cemetery in Fort Benning, Ga.
He was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam, and he retired from the U.S. Army with more than 26 years of service.
He was a member of the 187th Airborne Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He received several military awards including the Purple Heart with Three Oak Leaf Clusters.
He was a former manager of the Columbus, Ga. Pony Express.
He died May 31 [2000] at the age of 68 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife Patricia Holliday, Columbus, Ga.; sons Virgil P. (Barbara) Clemmons and Michael A. Clemmons, both of Columbus, Ga.; daughter Marilynn A.
