Funeral services for Susie Mae Friday of Gordo, were held at 2 p.m. June 11 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Reynolds, Rev. L. V. Jones and Rev. Rodney Bridges officiating.
She was a member of Brown's Chapel Church of God of Prophecy.
She was a retired employee of Westinghouse and a life-long resident of Pickens County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Brooks Friday and infant son, Edward Eugene Friday.
She died June 9 [2000] at the age of 78 at her daughter's residence.
Survivors include her daughter Carol Ann Friday, Moody; son Alton H. Friday, Millport; sisters Notie Lee, Gordo, Geneva Strickland, Alma Presnall and Bonnie Strickland, all of Northport, Peggy Wise, Clanton, Frances Young and Mabel Kirk, both of Tuscaloosa; brother Paul Anderson, Tuscaloosa; grandchildren Tami Henderson Winkelman, Brooks Henderson, Ellen Friday Harrod and Donna Henderson Deakle; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were George Whitley, Oneal Lee, Ricky Lee, Stanley Lee, Gary Anderson and Mitchell Anderson.
Burial was in Holly Springs Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform, directing.

Brandy Elizabeth Foster

Viola Carden Hester
Funeral services for Viola Carden Hester of Conyers, Ga., were held at 2 p.m. June 8 at Antioch Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kendall Hicks and Rev. Bill Benson officiating.
She was the oldest living member of the Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She was a retired employee of Beneke in Columbus, Miss., and a life-long resident of Pickens County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Hester.
She died June 5 [2000] at the age of 90 at Rockdale Hospital in Conyers, Ga.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca (Ray) Strickland, Conyers, Ga.; son, Levon (Jane) M. Hester, Henderson, NY; sister, Jessie Lee McCoy, Columbus, Miss.; grandchildren, Debbie, David, Deena, Brent and Derrick; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were nephews.

Herbert Lee Patterson
Funeral services for Herbert Lee Pearson of Colorado Springs, Colo., were held on May 28 at Hannah Church.
He retired as a sergeant first class from the U.S. Army after 20 years of active service.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
He died Feb. 18 [2000] at the age of 73 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Morgan; daughter, Rene; stepsons, Michael and Tommie; stepdaughter, Deborah; sisters, Ruth Wilcox and Essie Pritchett; and seven grandchildren.

Rev. Robert Leonard
Patterson Funeral services for Rev. Robert Leonard Patterson of Aliceville, were held at 2 p.m. June 3 at Garden of Eden Church of God in Christ with Elder MacArthur Guyton, Jr. officiating.
He was a native of Chicago, Ill.
He worked in the gospel ministry for 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joey Andre, and grandchild, LaQuesia Moneche Fowler.
He died May 29 [2000] at the age of 56.
Survivors include nine children, Robert Michael, Robbie Michealle, Jennifer, Patrick, Ieshia, Ishmael, Derrick, Eric and Leguiya; eight grandchildren, Shamika, Robert, Brittany, Andrea, Jonika, Angela, Jamal and Keanna; brother Willie (Jessie) J.; sisters, Ann Hill, Della (Henry) Wells, Rosa Ivy and Heidi (Robert) Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Garden of Eden deacons.
Burial was in Memorial Gardens with Lavender Funeral Service directing.
Ardelia Porter
Graveside services for Ardelia Porter of White Oak, Tex., were held at 10 a.m. on June 6 at Martin Cemetery.
She was a homemaker and a retired bookkeeper. She was a native of Aliceville.
She died June 5 [2000] at the age of 84.
Survivors include her husband, Buford H. Porter; sons, Billy (Pamela) Latham and Bud (Annette) Latham; daughter, Betty (Leon) McBride; stepchildren Tommy Porter and Darlene Williams; a special step-granddaughter, Tammi DePaepe; eight grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Jean Russell

She was preceded in death by her son Thomas Westley Russell.

McCracken, Aliceville; and grandchildren, Jacob Ray Jager, Michael Aaron Jager, Margaret Ellen Bradford and Burl Audie Bradford.

Rev. Jimmie Spencer
Funeral services for Jimmie Lee Spencer of Aliceville, were held at 1 p.m. June 3 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Old Memphis, with Rev. Napoleon Jones officiating.
He was a native of Pickens County. He served a tour of duty during World War II.
He was affiliated with the following associations: Worshipful Master, Barnes Pride Lodge, Number 932 for more than 40 years; Worthy Patron, Wright's Beauty, Chapter 616, OES for more than 35 years; NAACP life member; member, Panola Care Council; and board member of Panola Volunteer Fire Department. He studied at the Birmingham Easonian Baptist Seminary and the Stanford Bible Seminary.
He was preceded in death by his son Jimmie and daughter Anne.
He died May 30 [2000] at the age of 80 at the VA Hospital.
Survivors include his wife Ethel Garner Spencer, Aliceville; daughter Mary Spencer (Reginald) Campbell, Livingston; grandchildren, Nynesia, Reginald Jr., Ambre and Alysia; brothers Rev. J. B. Spencer, Aliceville, Johnny G. Spencer, St. Louis, Mo., and Willie (Maggie) Spencer, Gary, Ind.; sisters Laura Ann Spencer Howard, Memphis, Tenn. and Dollie (Jack) M. Spencer Jemison, Kansas City, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was a member of Glen Echo Freewill Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh B. Acker; daughter and son-in-law, Thelma and Daniel Hill. She died July 30 [2000] at the age of 90 at Pickens County Medical Center.
Survivors include her daughter, Brinda (Joe) Jones, Carrollton; sons, Ellis (Nell) Acker, Carrollton and Glenn (Cheryl) Acker, Tuscaloosa; sisters, Pauline Harcrow and Gladys Noland, both of Carrollton and Eunice Goodman, Northport; 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
