Annie Mae “Goree” Jackson
Funeral services for Annie Mae "Goree" Jackson of Columbus, Miss. were held at 11 a.m. March 7 at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bob Myers officiating.
She was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. She was employed at Seminole Manufacturing Co. as a seamstress for 30 years. She died March 5 at the age of 88 at Vineyard Court Nursing Center.
Survivors include her stepdaughters Darlene Sanders and LaDonna Johnson, both of Columbus, Miss.; stepson Mitch Jackson, Meridian, Miss.; nieces June Gale Kiltz, Forrest, Miss. and Joann Pearson, Flowery, Ga.; nephews Walter Hollinger, Columbus, Miss., Jimmy Goree, Mobile, and Neal Goree, Forrest, Miss. and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were nephews and family members.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. James Woodard and Dr. Jack Reed.
Burial was in Mineral Springs Cemetery with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Morris Little
Funeral services for Morris E. Little of Gordo were held at 2 p.m. March 10 at Gordo First Baptist Church with Rev. Pat Powell officiating.
He was a member of Gordo First Baptist Church, a member of Gordo Masonic Lodge #564, a retired employee with the Alabama Highway Dept., a former security guard with Pinkerton Security and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his first wife Geneva Hazel Oswalt Little. He died March 7 at the age of 75 at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife Mary Ann Spain Little, Gordo; daughters Linda (Billy) Roberts, Tuscaloosa and Brenda (John) Goodwyn, Sharpsburg, Md.; son Eddie (Debra) Little, Huntsville, Ala.; stepsons Billy (Janice) Tate, Gordo, and Robert (Becky) Tate, Wetumpka; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Edward Little, David Little, Brandon Roberts, Justin Roberts, Christ Roberts and Allen Tate.
Honorary pallbearers were Billy Roberts, Billy Tate, Robert Tate, Stanley Roberts, Sr., Earl Spain, Floyd "Pee Wee" Spain, Phillip Spain and friends and neighbors of the Fairview Community.

Mary Alma Montgomery
Funeral services for Mary Alma Montgomery of Aliceville were held at 3 p.m. March 8 at Aliceville First Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Cooley and Rev. Larry Potts officiating.
She was a member of Aliceville First Baptist Church, a retired textile worker for Alabama Mills and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband Lee Montgomery and grandson Billy Joe Duncan. She died March 6 at the age of 96 at Pickens County Medical Center.
Survivors include her daughters Dorothy Lee Windle and Mary Jane (Calvin) Junkin, both of Aliceville; sister Mattie S. Grayson, Fayette; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were George Griffith, Ronnie Cochrane, Timothy L. Windle, David Grayson, Calvin Lee Duncan and David Hamner.
Honorary pallbearers were staff and residents of Sansing Country Home, Freddie Dooley, Ryan Holder, Walter Holder, Mary E. Davis and William and Lucille Nance.

Peggy Joyce Payne
Funeral services for Peggy Joyce Payne of Gordo were held at 11 a.m. March 9 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Elder James "Buddy" Abernathy, Elder Glen Payne and Rev. Hershel Owens officiating.
She was a member of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church, an employee of JVC in Tuscaloosa and a lifelong resident of Pickens County. She was preceded in death by her parents Dan and Hattie Sims Pate. She died March 6 at the age of 61 at Northport Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband Newman Payne, Gordo; daughters Kimmy Parker (Jon) Lydick, Panama City, Fla., Candace Parker (Jamie) Chapman, Gordo, Rita Payne (Gary) Parker, Birmingham and Patti Payne (Doug) Meyerdirk, Slozakia; son Robert Jeffery (Kathy) Parker, Gordo; sisters Bernice Turman, Marion Burkhalter and Virginia Junkin, all of Gordo, Nola Mae Marquis, Northport, Nona Faye Raye, Eutaw, and Annie Lois Smith, Birmingham; brother Johnny Mack Pate, Gordo; and 16 grandchildren.

Jimmy L. Murphy
Funeral services for Jimmy L. Murphy were held at 2 p.m. March 7 at the Aliceville National Guard Armory with Rev. D. A. Simpson officiating.
He was a member of Littlevine Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Lizzie Murphy; daughter Sarah Mae Windham; and brothers Sam Kelly, Bill Murphy, Ed Murphy and Jessie Murphy. He died Feb. 28 at the age of 86 at Northport Medical Center.
Survivors include his son Eddie (Elizabeth) Murphy, Carrollton; daughter Flora (John) Ball, Cleveland, Ohio; granddaughters Evelyn Murphy Bishop, Carrollton and Geraldine Conner, West Point, Miss.; brothersinlaw Joe Lee Stepp, Baton Rouge, La., James Stepp, Erie, Penn. and Virdo Stepp, Carrollton; sistersinlaw Jannie Howard, Lucky M. Dany and Stalle Stepp, all of Erie, Penn., Maggie L. Stepp, Carrollton and Cynthia and Tina, both of St. Louis, Mo.; 16 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren; 56 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Annie Mae Smith

She was a member of Younger Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Andy Smith; 15 sisters; and one brother. She died March 2 at the age of 100 at Salem Nursing Home Care.
Survivors include her adopted son Terrance Smith, Boston, Mass.; three grandchildren; two stepdaughters; two stepsons; nephews Ned Simon, Rev. Earl Steward; niece (Puddin); goddaughter Ruth (Jim) Prude; sistersinlaw Emma Mae Conner and Rosa Pearl Clark, both of Aliceville, and several nieces and nephews.

Robert Earl Smith Sr.
Funeral services for Robert Earl Smith Sr. of Carrollton were held at 3 p.m. March 7 at Carrollton United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Maxwell officiating.
He was retired from Westinghouse with 32 years of service. He was owner/operator of Smith's Hardware in Carrollton for 19 years, and he was a U.S. Army Veteran. He died March 4 at the age of 67 at Northport Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife Doris Smith, Carrollton; daughter Kay McAteer, Carrollton; sons Robert E. (Rebecca) Smith Jr., Fairhope, Ala. and Mike (Tammy) Smith and David (Vanessa) Smith, both of Carrollton; brother J. L. (Almeda) Smith, Jr., Tuscaloosa; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Robert Puckett, John L. Smith III, Edward Smith, Lee Goodson, Larry Gilliam and Grady Ray Elmore.

She was a member of Ethelsville Church of God. She was a retired seamstress for Seminole Manufacturing in Columbus, Miss. She was preceded in death by her husbands Oliver Bradshaw, George Hall and Morris Vail. She died March 3 at the age of 78 at Aurora Australis Lodge in Columbus, Miss.
Survivors include her sons Wayne Bradshaw and Jerry Hall, both of Millport; daughter Lynda Bradshaw Pate, Hernando, Miss.; sister Stella Ponds Bradshaw, Ethelsville; seven grandchildren; great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

He was a retired assistant supervisor with Huyck Felt Company and a U.S. Army veteran. He died March 5 at the age of 78 at DCH Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Pickens County. She was a member of the Forest United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband John William Gee Sr. She died March 6 at the age of 93 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, Miss.

Gee, Talladega; daughters Catherine Tilley, Ethelsville, and Betty McNees, Columbus, Miss.; brother Eugene Wilcox, Tallahassee; sister, Louise Bush, Columbus, Miss.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
