Funeral services for Roy Lee Harcrow of McShan, were held at 2 p.m. March 29 at Crossroads Baptist Church in Carrollton, with Rev. Ricky Jackson and Rev. Steve Lammons officiating.
He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church, the American Legion and the VFW. He was a retired employee with 33 years of service to McShan Lumber Company, and a veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy Harcrow. He died March 29 [2002] at the age of 80 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife Louise Hill Harcrow, McShan; daughters Mamie Nell Dickson, Northport, and Pauline McCrackin and Joyce O'Mary, both of Gordo; step-daughter Rita Inman, Columbus, Miss.; brother James Harcrow, Reform; sisters Mamie Sobley and Annie Oglesby, both of Reform; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mickey McCrackin, Danny O'Mary, Larry Inman, Tommy Dickson, Joseph Poole and Jason Jackson.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Lee Thomas, Dr. John Hinton, staff of Cancer Treatment Center, friends and neighbors and Hospice of West Alabama.
Burial was in the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
Jessie Macrae Harris
Funeral services for Jessie Macrae Harris of Columbus, Miss., were held at 2 p.m. March 28 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Sexton officiating.
He was a native of Winfield, and lived in the Columbus area for 42 years. He was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church. He was a retired truck driving instructor for Golden Triangle VoTech and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He died March 27 [2002] at the age of 77 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife Anna H. Harris, Columbus, Miss.; daughter Myrtle H. (Charles) Buchanan, Columbus, Miss.; son Larry Macrae (Teresa) Harris, Memphis, Tenn.; sisters Gerline Sexton, Brilliant, and Bertie Mae Box, Selma; brother Romer Harris, Littleville; grandchildren Kelly Buchanan, Donna (Dennis) Bennett and Wayne (Theresa) Kidder, all of Columbus, Miss., Beth (Larry) Skelton, Carrollton, Jody Harris, Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Jennifer Harris, Birmingham; and great-grandchildren Haley Bennett, Rebekah Skelton, Greydon Kidder and Kimberly Bennett.
Pallbearers were grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were 483rd Army Artillery, Dr. Duckworth, Dr. Whitecar, members of Hospice, 4th floor nursing staff of Baptist Memorial Hospital, and Harvey Gause.
Burial was in Winfield with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
J. T. Johnson
Graveside services for James Thomas "J.T." Johnson of Demopolis, were held at 10 a.m. March 30 at Fellowship Cemetery with KiddRobbins Funeral Directors of Demopolis directing.
He was a former resident of Pickens County and lived in Demopolis for a number of years. He was self-employed in the construction business. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean conflict. He was a Mason and a Methodist. He was preceded in death by his son Tommy Johnson. He died March 28 [2002] at the age of 73 at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his daughter Stephanie A. Johnson, Chattanooga, Tenn.; sons Owen H. (Cindy) Johnson, Fayetteville, Tenn., and Marvin A. "Buddy" Johnson, Demopolis; mother Edith Latham, Demopolis; and four grandchildren.
Fred Price, Jr.
Funeral services for Fred Price, Jr. of Columbus, Miss., were held at 2 p.m. March 26 at Fairview Baptist Church with Bro. Mickey Dalrymple and Bro. Steve Lammons officiating.
He was a lifetime resident of the Columbus area and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He served in the United States Navy as a Boatsman Mate 3rd Class from 1950-1954. He retired from Bell South in 1983 after serving over 29 years as a System Technician. He was the president of the Golden Triangle Telephone Pioneers, a member of the Missions Service Corps and Campers on Mission. He was preceded in death by his brothers James A. Price and Everett L. Price . He died March 23 at the age of 71 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife Mae Price , Columbus, Miss.; son Kelley Price , Columbus, Miss.; daughter Anna Eaves, Butler; sister Mildred Jaynes, Marion, Ill.; and grandchildren Matthew Eaves, Dustin Eaves, Timothy Eaves, Lauren Price and Stephanie Price .
Pallbearers were Dustin Eaves, Matthew Eaves, Billy Price , Mike Price , Justin Price and Chris Sansing.

Ruth Juanita Stephens

She was a member of Aliceville First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband John William Stephens. She died March 26 [2002] at the age of 77 at her residence.
Survivors include her stepdaughters Mattie (James) Woolbright, Northport, and Jean (Bud) Spiller, Aliceville; son Johnny J. Stephens, Demopolis; sisters Catherine Franklin and Faye Franklin; grandchildren Cody Stephens, Jonathan Stephens, Lena Bass, Linda Allen, Ann Robertson, Murray Bailey and James Woolbright Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
Carrie Lee Windham
Funeral services for Carrie Lee Windham of Aliceville were held at 12 noon March 26 at Lavender Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Samuel Bonner officiating.
She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Lee Cook Williams. She died March 20 at the age of 78 at Pickens County Medical Center.

Anne Ruth Smith Costello
Funeral services for Anne Ruth Smith Costello of Clyde, NY, were held recently.
She was a piano player for her church in Reform as well as for school and social activities and annually played at camp meetings at Unity Grove and Tabernacle. She married James Costello in 1944; they had met at the Aliceville POW Camp. They returned to his home and business in Clyde, NY, where they lived for 58 years. She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Smith, Stansel; husband James Costello; brother Boyd Smith; sister Jimmy Lou Prude, Tupelo, Miss.; sister Marguerite Smith Ringenberg, St. Louis, Mo., and Naples, Fla. She died at a Clyde, NY nursing home on May 8 [2002]; she would have been 90 on May 16.
Survivors include her daughter Annie Marie (Tony) Cicacca, Rochester, NY; son Jimmy Costello, Clyde, NY; grandsons James Cicacca and Brian (Dawn) Costello; five great-grandchildren of Seneca Falls, NY; sister Eleanor (Bernard) Smith; 13 nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins.
Ashley Gilliam Daniels
Funeral services for Ashley Gilliam Daniels of Gordo, were held at 2 p.m. May 22 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Burns officiating.
She was a member of Gordo First Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her father Michael Wayne Gilliam; grandparents Nathan Gilliam, Joe and Lois Clements; and great-grandmothers Ethel Brown and Maggie Gilliam. She died May 19 [2002] at the age of 22 at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband Larry Dale Daniels, Gordo; daughters Alyssa Daniels and Daleigh Daniels, both of Gordo; sons Zane Daniels, Gordo and David Walker, Vernon; sister Erika Gilliam, Gordo; grandmother Emma Ruth Gilliam, Gordo; fatherinlaw and motherinlaw, Lloyd and Martha Whittaker; and several aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers were Charles Daniels, James Daniels, Eddie Madison, Jessie Sullivan, Jonathan Sullivan and Sean Selleria.

Frances Beasley Fox
Memorial services for Frances Beasley Fox of Richmond, Va., were held at 11 a.m. March 4 at First Presbyterian Church.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church; Richmond, Tuckahoe and Windsor Farms Garden Clubs and Richmond Women's Club.
She served on the Women's Committee of the Richmond Symphony.
She died Feb. 26 [2002].

James Levert Howell
Funeral services for James Levert Howell of Tuscaloosa, were held at 3:30 p.m. May 26 at Magnolia Chapel with Elder James Howard and Dr. Duncan Hunter officiating.
He graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School and the University of Alabama. He received his PhD in mathematics from Yale University, taught mathematics at Lehigh University, University of Georgia, University of Delaware and retired from the University of Alabama after 30 years in the math department.
He was a clerk and deacon of Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Pickens County, a member of the American Mathematical Association and a member of Golden K-Kiwanis.
He was preceded in death by his brother Joel Thomas Howell.
He died May 23 [2002] at the age of 84 at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife Martha B. Howell, Tuscaloosa; sisters Ruth (Kenneth) Sanders, Benevola, Fannie Lou (Ed) McPherson, Tacoma, Wash. and Nelda (Arnold) Kring, Coatesville, Pa.; brother Lt. Col. (Ret.) Donald E. (Sara) Howell, San Antonio, Tex.; eight nieces; five nephews; 11 greatnieces; and nine greatnephews.

He was retired from the U.S. Navy with 23 years of service and was a veteran of three wars. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, the American Legion and Woodmen of the World. He was preceded in death by his sisters Katie Ann Wheat and Virginia Harless. He died May 19 [2002] at the age of 74 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Hazel Wood Huffman, Carrollton; daughters Diane Gregoire, Barrington, NJ and Ginny (David) Cox, Hoover; brother William H. (Betty) Huffman Jr., Carrollton; grandchildren Lorie Comfort, Tracy Phillips, Brian Cox, Justin Gregoire and Steven Cox; great-grandchildren Cati Brewer, Matt Comfort and Madeline Phillips; and brotherinlaw Ed Harless.
