Funeral services were held Dec. 9 at Hullet Winstead Funeral Home in Hattisburg, Miss. for Mrs. Sammie K. Halfkenny, 63, Cedar Bluff, who passed away Dec. 5 at her residence.
Mrs. Halfkenny was the daughter of the late William Zarnel and Thelma Wallace Copeland. She was a native of Henderson, Ind. and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include sons, Russell Roberts, Cedar Bluff, Herbert W. Roberts, Steator, Ill.; daughters, Sylvia Hughes, Cedar Bluff, Melissa Kennedy, Gainsville, Ga., brothers, Steve Copeland, Corpus Christi, Texas; sisters, Trassie Rich, Pervis, Miss.; Leona Switzer, Whiteville, N.C.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial followed in Corinth Cemetery in Purvis, Miss.
Carr, Lillian Faye
Funeral services were held Dec. 6 at Perry Funeral Home for Mrs. Lillian Faye Carr, 84, LaFayette, Ga., who passed away Dec. 3. Rev. Charles McElhaney officiated.
Mrs. Carr was the daughter of the late John W. and Etna Tucker Bentley. She was a native of Cherokee County and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include son, Ronnie R. (Evelyn) Carr, LaFayette, Ga.; daughters, Wanda Green , LaFayette, Donna (Greg) Rhudy, Lafayette; brothers, Bob Bentley, Trion, Ga., Bill Bentley, Lyerly, Ga.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial followed in LaFayette Memory Gardens.
Smith, Rita Jean
Funeral services were held Dec. 4 for Mrs. Rita Jean Smith, 40, Collinsville, who passed away Dec. 2 at her residence. Rev. Chris Nichols officiated.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Marshall County and a member of The Word of God Church.
Survivors include husband, Cleven Ray Smith; son, Lamar Smith, Collinsville; daughters, Kelly (Michael) Fitts, Collinsville, Wendy Smith, Collinsville, Melinda (Robert) Davis, Collinsville; father, Bobby Young, Valley Head; brother, Dale (Barbara) Busby, Chattanooga, Tenn.; sisters, Carlyn (Randy) Ball, Crossville, Margaret, (Scott) Underwood, Gadsden; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Bailey, Earnest Floyd, Jr.
Graveside services were held Dec. 3 at Collinsville Cemetery for Mr. Earnest Floyd Bailey, Jr., 56, Collinsville, who passed away Dec. 1 at Cherokee Medical Center. Rev. John Morgan officiated.
Mr. Bailey was the son of the late E.F. and Mildred Bailey, Sr. He was a member of the Collinsville First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include sons, Jeffery F. (Valerie) Bailey, Collinsville, Steven S. Bailey, Collinsville; sister, Mildred Pauline Johnson; brothers, Edward Owen Bailey, Max Lamar Bailey, Howard Neal Bailey; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Guthrie, Alfred Monroe
Funeral services were held Dec. 6 at Perry Funeral Home for Mr. Alfred Monroe Guthrie, 84, who passed away Dec. 2 at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden. Revs. Jan Stanley and Shane Swafford officiated.
Mr. Guthrie was the son of the late John and Bessie McLain Guthrie. He was a native of Marshall County and a member of the Centre Church of God.
Survivors include wife, Verene England Guthrie; son, Garry (Charlene) Guthrie, Leesburg; brother, Truman Guthrie, Gadsden; sister, Vila Mae Duke, Leesburg; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Burial followed in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Brunson, Madison Aubree
Graveside services were Dec. 6 at Providence Cemetery for Madison Aubree Brunson, infant daughter of Michael Anthony and Shannon Lea Brunson, Sr., who passed away Dec. 3. Rev. Larry Bollinger officiated.
Survivors include brothers, Michael Jr., Joshua, Andrew, Jacob, and Hunter Brunson; sisters, Christine, Amber, and Dakota Brunson; grandparents, Jean Anthony Floyd, Phi Burney Brunson, Janet Foster ; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Orndorf, Ravyn Lily
Funeral services will be held Dec. 13 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Centre for Ravyn Lily Orndorf, infant daughter of Dale Warren Orndorf, Jr. and Tonya Sophia Orndorf, Cedar Bluff.
Survivors include grandparents, Dorothy L. Orndorf, Browns Mills, N.J., Alice N. Horton, Centre, and David H. Ford, Euharlee, Ga.
Ted Gregerson will officiate the service.
McFarland, William Clayborn
Funeral services were held Dec. 6 at Enon Grove Baptist Church for Mr. William Clayborn McFarland, 77, Cedar Bluff, who passed away Dec. 5 at Cherokee Medical Center. Rev. Gary Hardin officiated.
Mr. McFarland was the son of the late Pleas William and Mamie Rutledge McFarland. He was a native of Scott County, Ky. and a member of the Enon Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Angela (John) Jonezy, Nicholasville, Ky., Cindy (Randy) Gregory, Georgetown, Ky., Betty Jean (Greg) Ballard, Glasgow, Ky.; sister, Becky Smith, Lexington, Ky., brothers, Danny McFarland and Gail McFarland, Georgetown; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial followed in Georgetown.
Mariani, David John
Funeral services were held June 4 at Smith-Perry Funeral Home for Mr. David John Mariani, 75, Leesburg, who passed away May 31 at his residence. Rev. Lloyd Gibbs, Father Thomas Kelley and Father Michael Harmuth officiated.
Mr. Mariani, a native of Ellwood City, Penn., was the son of the late David and Flora Buzzilli Mariani. He was a retired electrical engineer with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and of the Catholic faith.
Mr. Mariani is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hale Mariani, four sons, seven daughters, three step-children, two sisters, 30 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be held July 3 at St. Sebastian Church in Akron, Ohio.
Carter, Zithri M.
Graveside services were held June May 28 at Highland Cemetery for Mrs. Zithri M. Carter, 89, Piedmont, who passed away May 25 at Jacksonville Medical Center. Rev. Bobby Kirk officiated.
Mrs. Carter, a native of Piedmont, was the daughter of the late Henry and Ada Stewart Murphy. She was a former employee of Piedmont Nursing Home.
Preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Carter, and grandson John Franklin Waddell, Mrs. Carter is survived by daughters Susan Coheely, Sylvia Bishop, three grandsons, and three great-grandsons.
Folsom Funeral Home of Piedmont was in charge of arrangements.
Guyton, Arlene Frances
Graveside services were held June 2 at Union Hill Cemetery for Mrs. Arlene Frances Guyton, 62, Centre, who passed away May 31 at her residence. Rev. Ron Johnson officiated.
Mrs. Guyton, a native of Fulton County, Ga., was the daughter of the late Hase Cleveland and Kate Irene Goss Guyton. She was a homemaker and of the Holiness faith.
Mrs. Guyton is survived by one son, one daughter, four brothers, five sisters, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Smith-Perry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Blackwell, Mary Ruth
Funeral services were held June 2 at Collinsville Funeral Home-Sharpe Chapel for Miss Mary Ruth Blackwell, 72, Attalla, who passed away May 31 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. Rev. Billy Hunt officiated.
Ms. Blackwell is survived by brother, Allen (Sharon) Blackwell, sisters, Louise Boatwright, Pauline (Milton) Oliver, all of Collinsville, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Interment was held at Black Creek Cemetery.
