Lindsey, Ray Allen
Funeral services were held June 4 at Ebenezer Methodist Church for Mr. Ray Allen Lindsey, 79, Centre, who passed away June 2 in a Rome, Ga., hospital. Rev. Tammy Jackson and Rev. Jack Bowlin officiated.
Mr. Lindsey, the son of the late Richard Felton and Ella Victoria Chapman Lindsey, was a native of Cherokee County. Mr. Lindsey was a veteran of World War II, a retired farmer and cotton ginner, and member of Formby Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Ebenezer Methodist Church.
Mr. Lindsey is survived by his wife, Sible Stansell Lindsey, son, Stephen Allen Lindsey, daughter, Sand Jean Lindsey, two brothers, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Interment was held at Cherokee Memory Gardens. Smith-Perry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Helms, John Edward
Funeral services were held Aug. 8 at Mason Funeral Home for Mr. John Edward Helms, 79, Trion, Ga., who passed away Aug. 6 at his residence. Revs. Art Graves and Rob Pierce officiated.
Mr. Helms was the son of the late George Edward and Orlean Moseley Helms. He was a native of Alabama and a member of Trion United Methodist Church.
Survivors include wife, Nancy Carroll Helms; daughter, Teresa (James) Snow; sons, Ronnie (Sandy) Helms, David (Kate) Helms, Jeff (Tracy) Helms; sisters, Gumelda Cargle, Jeanette McGraw, Peggy Helms; brothers, Bobby Helms, George Helms, Jr.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Burial followed in Green hills Memory Gardens.
Bowen, Dave
Funeral services were held Aug. 4 at Collinsville Funeral Home for Mr. Dave Bowen, 74, Collinsville, who passed away Aug. 1 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. Revs. James Young and Jerry Patton officiated.
Survivors include son, David (Teresa) Bowen, Collinsville; daughter, Patrice (Mark) Whitt, Millen, Ga.; brother-in-law, Adrian O'Rear; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial followed in Collinsville Cemetery.
Alexander, Earl Wilson
Funeral services were held Aug. 3 at Perry Funeral Home for Mr. Earl Wilson Alexander, 66, Centre, who passed away Aug. 1 at his residence. Revs. Larry Perkins and James Wells officiated.
Mr. Alexander was the son of the late Earnest and Bernice Stevens Alexander. He was a native of Cherokee County.
Survivors include wife, Alma Shell Alexander; brothers, George (Willean) Alexander and Horace Alexander, Centre; Jerry Alexander, Charles (Jody) Alexander, Cedar Bluff; James Alexander, Lake Wells, Fla., David (Elouise) Alexander, Villa Rica, Ga.; sister, Jessie Alexander, Centre; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial followed in Hebron Cemetery.
Kerr, Jurlee Hester
Graveside services were held Aug. 3 at Bethel Cemetery for Mrs. Jurlee Hester Kerr, 89, Ackworth, Ga., who passed away Aug. 1 at her daughter's residence. Rev. Frank Norris officiated.
Mrs. Kerr was the daughter of the late Walter and Ida Matthews Mallows. She was a native of Cherokee County and a member of Cave Spring United Methodist Church.
Survivors include son, Tom (Linda) Hester, Centre; daughter, Martha David, Ackworth; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Henderson, O'Gusta "Gussie"
Funeral services were held Oct. 7 at Smith-Perry Funeral Home for Mrs. O'Gusta "Gussie" Henderson, 86, Gaylesville, who passed away Oct. 1 at Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome, Ga. Rev. Sanford Deberry officiated.
Mrs. Henderson was the daughter of the late Samuel Robert and Bessie Woodall Stallings. She was a native of Chattooga County, Ga. and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include sister, Nettie Fay Nally, Breman, Ga.; son-in-law, Bobby Connell, Gaylesville; and three grandchildren.
Burial followed in Mill Creek Cemetery.
Mobbs, Thomas C.
Funeral services were held Oct. 5 at Perry Funeral Home for Mr. Thomas C. Mobbs, 74, Gaylesville, who passed away Oct. 3 at his residence. Revs. Terry Hawkins and Sanford Deberry officiated.
Mr. Mobbs was the son of the late Felix and Lillian Loveless Mobbs. He was a native of Cherokee County and a member of Freedom Baptist Church.
Survivors include wife, Sue Hawkins Mobbs; step-sons, Gary (Donna) Hawkins, Gaylesville, Terry (Theresa) Hawkins, Leesburg; sister, Billie Mobbs, Gaylesville; brothers, C.L. "C-Bo" (Helen) Mobbs, Gaylesville, Roger (Andrea) Mobbs, Woodstock, Ga., Charles (Jayne) Mobbs, Marietta, Ga.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial followed in Cedar Bluff Cemetery.
Hartline, Margaret B.
Funeral services were held Oct. 5 at New Prospect No. 1 Baptist Church for Mrs. Margaret B. Hartline, 58, Ellisville, who passed away Oct. 3 at Cherokee Medical Center. Revs. Sanford DeBerry and Bud Stilner officiated.
Mrs. Hartline was the daughter of the late Jack and Nelly Mae Elrod Burleson. She was a native of Baldwin County and a member of New Prospect No. 1 Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons, Joseph (Darlene) Hartline, Piedmont; daughters, Teresa (John Paul) Verdon, Mentone, Katrine Hartline, Gaylesville; brother, Steve (Rose) Burleson, Talego, Ga.; sisters, Vere (Gene) Todd, Gaylesville, Robbie Maples, Gaylesville, Irene (Danny) Tallent, Douglas, Welene (Edwin) Tallent, Lyerly, Ga; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
