Ethel A. Penn Thomas, 93, of Grove Hill died June 1, 2003 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital.
She was a former member of the Spencer Chapel A.M.E. Church of Fulton. She was a member of the Carlton AOH Church where she was the mother of the church.

Mary Bettis Watts, 97, of Jackson died June 4, 2003 at Jackson Hospital.
She was a native of Suggsville. She was a member of the Star of Zion A.M.E. Zion Church of Jackson.
Survivors include one daughter, Willie Rocker, Jackson; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
The service was held June 8 at the Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church in Jackson. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery of Jackson. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directed.
Harrison
Fraudie Mae Harrison, 97, of Grove Hill died June 14, 2003 at Washington County Nursing Home.
She was born in Thomasville April 12, 1906. She was a member of the Hebron United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, John Earl Harrison, Grove Hill; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Claudie Harrison, Danny Harrison, Ronald Harrison, John Harrison, Travis Kelly and Robert Pruitt.
A graveside service was held June 16 at 2 p.m. at the Grove Hill Cemetery. Lathan Funeral Home directed.
Miller
Matthew Fitzgerald Miller, 20, of Jackson died June 14, 2003 at his residence.
He was born in Florence April 22, 1983. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a student at Alabama Southern Community College.
Survivors include his father and mother, Jesse and Christine Fitzgerald Miller, Jackson; one brother, Erik Miller, Atlanta, GA; one sister, Robin Nunley, Blountstown, FL; maternal grandparents, Ellie and Willie Fitzgerald, Florence; two nephews, Josh and Caleb Nunley.
A graveside service was held June 17 at 3 p.m. at the Tri City Memorial Cemetery in Florence. Lathan Funeral Home directed.
Overstreet
A.C. Overstreet Jr., 81, of Walker Springs died June 13, 2003 at Thomasville Nursing Home.
He was born in Clarke County May 6, 1922. He was a member of the #857 Masonic Lodge of La Porte, TX. He had worked as a construction worker with Brown 創 Root Construction Company.
Survivors include his wife, Nora Motes Beck, Jackson; one brother, Armond Overstreet, Phoenix, AZ; three sisters, Grace Odom, Wilda Blackmon, both of Jackson, Rose Westgate, New Orleans, LA.
The service was held June 16 at the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. Burial was in the Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson.

Jennie Butler, 69, of Thomasville died June 8, 2003 at Keithly House Nursing Facility in Cleveland, OH.
She was a homemaker.

Wilmer Allen Dunn, 66, of Thomasville died June 11, 2003 at Thomasville Infirmary.
He was born in Nicholsville near Thomasville. He was a member of the Nicholsville Baptist Church. He was a retired electrician with Georgia Pacific.

Dunn, Nicholsville, Darrin Dunn, Thomasville; one daughter, Melissa Dunn Smyly, Saraland; one sister, Martha D. William J. "Bill" Chandler of Grand Bay died June 13, 2003 at a local hospital.
He was a native of Monroeville. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grand Bay. He was retired from Coastal Refinery after 11 years. He became owner operator of B&D Yard Work.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Deatra "Dee Dee" Chandler, Grand Bay; daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Michael Gillette and their son, Scott Gillette, all of Saraland; one brother, Rev. Roy Chandler, Monroeville; two sisters, Doris Gibson, Monroeville, Irene Hammac, Theodore; mother-in-law, Darlene Sterrette, Grand Bay; brother-in-law, Randy Sterrette, Theodore, nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.
The service was held June 17 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home. Burial was in the Serenity Memorial Gardens will full military honors by the VFW Post 49 Honor Guard.

Robert Tollie Pugh, 72, of Mobile died June 12, 2003 at a Mobile hospital.
He was a native of Winn. He was a retired electronic technician with McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, CA. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church of Winn.
Survivors include one son, Reginald Pugh, Dallas, TX; two daughters, Michelle Coleman, Sacramento, CA, Renee Momon, Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
The service will be held Saturday, June 21 at 12 noon at the Bethlehem Baptist Church of Winn with Rev. Don Sterling, pastor, to officiate. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Andrews Funeral Home will direct.

Treva E. York, 81, of Robertsdale died June 16, 2003 at a local health care facility.
He was born in Salitpa. He was retired from Coca-Cola after 26 years.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years Helen York, Robertsdale; four sons, Larry York, Loxley, Mike York Silverhill, Dean York Summerdale, Travis York, Pensacola, FL; three daughters, Judy Peterson, Foley, Grace Gree, Betty Childress, both of Robertsdale; two sisters, Eunice Roberts, Jackson, Wintry Faile, Fulton; two brothers, Jesse York, Monroeville, Therman York, Salitpa; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
The service was held June 18 at 10 a.m. at the St. Patrick痴 Catholic Church with Father William James officiating. Burial was in the Belforest Catholic Cemetery. Mack Funeral Home of Robertsdale directed.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the St. Patrick痴 School Building Fund.

Hattie Scruggs Slater, 95, of Coffeeville died June 16, 2003 at her residence.
She was a member of the Union Baptist Church in Coffeeville. She served in the Missionary Society and the Bladon Springs Women Association.

He was a native of Grove Hill. He was employed at New Era Cap Company in Jackson as a machine operator.

Terisa Dianne Porter, 54, of Grove Hill died June 23, 2003 at a local hospital.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church near Grove Hill. She had worked as a seamstress for Vanity Fair Mills in Monroeville.

James Lansford "Lance" Horner Jr., 32, of Grove Hill died June 22, 2003 at the Coffeeville Lock and Dam.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the National Rifle Association, Police Benevolent Association, Alabama State Employee Association and the Alabama State Police Association and the Thomasville Baptist Church. He had worked as a conservation officer with the State of Alabama.
