Melvin Bonner Sr., 74, of the Toddtown community of Grove Hill died Nov. 16 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center.
He was a member of the Pine Chapel #1 Baptist Church of Grove Hill. He was a retired truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Jordan Bonner, Toddtown; four sons, Thomas Bonner, Clifford Bonner, Melvin Bonner Jr., Jack Bonner, all of Toddtown; one stepson, James Montrel Rivers, Mobile; two daughters, Voncile Bonner Monigan, Toddtown, Melvina Bonner Wright, Austin, TX; one stepdaughter, Bobbi Kierston Jordan, Mobile; one sister, Dorethery Bonner King, Jackson; one adopted sister, Eloise Bonner, Jackson; one adopted brother, Otis Bonner, Atlanta, GA.
The service was held Nov. 22 at 1 p.m. at the Pine Chapel #1 Baptist Church of Grove Hill with Rev. Eligah Scott as the eulogist. Burial was in the Pine Chapel #2 Baptist Church Cemetery in Toddtown. Andrews Funeral Home of Jackson directed.
Johnson
Willie D. "Pee Wee" Johnson, 58, of Fairford died Nov. 12, 2003 at a local hospital.
He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church. He was retired from Brown & Root at Ciba in McIntosh.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Minnie L. Law-Johnson, Fairford; two sons, Jarvis Law, Jackson, Christopher Johnson, McIntosh, two daughters, Angela Rembert, Andretta Johnson, both of Birmingham; two brothers, Bobby Johnson, Fairford, Frank Johnson, Washington, DC; one sister, Helen Bates, South Boston, VA; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, three devoted, Anna Mae Law, Lella Williams and Margie Lewis.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Demita Johnson, two sisters, Wilhemia Robinson and Charlean Hall.
A mass service was held Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Chestang with Father Andrew Toyinbo, M.S.P. officiating. Burial was in the Little Chestang Cemetery in Fairford. Andrews Funeral Home of Jackson officiated.
Carter
Ernest Melvin Carter, better known as "Bayo," 52, of Thomasville died Nov. 12, 2003 at Mobile Infirmary Hospital.
He was a construction worker.
Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Carter, Chicago, IL; his father, Robert Carter Sr., Thomasville; three sisters, Maxine Robinson, Wagarville, Barbara Hollinhead, Birmingham, Patricia Ball, Carson, CA; three brothers, Charles Carter, Thomasville, Robert Carter Jr., Sweet Water, Norman Carter, Mobile; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
The service will be held Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. at the Shady Grove Baptist Church of Thomasville. Burial will be in the Airmount Cemetery in Sunny South. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home will direct.
Williams
Robert Ervin Williams, better known as "Nimp," 32, of Gainestown died Nov. 14, 2003 at his residence.
He was a member of the 778th Maintenance of the Jackson National Guard. He also served in Operation Dessert Storm from 1990-1991. He was a member of the Jackson High School Class of 1989. He was formerly employed at Vanity Fair of Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Williams, Gainestown; one son, Robert Williams Jr., one daughter, Harmoni Williams, both of Gainestown; father and mother, Charlie and Dorean Williams, Gainestown; three brothers, Larry Williams, Gainestown, Clifford Williams, Jackson, Felix Williams, Dal-las, TX; one sister, Alixia Williams, Gainestown.
The service was held Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. at Gainestown A.O.H. Church of Gainestown. Burial will follow in the Gainestown A.O.H. Church Cemetery. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directed.
Knapp
Dora Alice Knapp, 59, of Jackson died Nov. 12, 2003 at Jackson Health Care Facility.
She was a member of the Peniel Baptist Church. She attended Sunday school at the First Baptist Church in Jackson. She was a former resident of Jones Home (CCARC), Clarke County Association of Retarded Citizens for several years.
Survivors include one sister, Betty Joyce Etheredge, Leroy; one nephew, Donald Dorman, Jackson.
The service was held Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. Burial was in the Peniel Cemetery in Jackson.
Active pallbearers were Earl Sheffield, Johnny Counselman, L.C. James, Dewey Hudson, Daryl Beck and Dwain Dorman.

Allday
J.W. Allday, 67, of Grove Hill died Nov. 13, 2003 at River West Medical Center in Plaquemine, LA.
He had worked as a diesel mechanic. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Steward Allday, Grove Hill; one son, Morris Allday, Fulton; two daughters, Saranda Allday, Thomasville, Melinda Foster , Grove Hill; two stepsons, Anthony Patrick, Antioch, Brandon Kyzer, Mobile; three stepdaughters, Charlotte Weaver, Walker Springs, Norma Paul, Grove Hill, Wanda Bryan, Gaines-town; four sisters, Christine Blackwell, Rockville, Joan Dolbare, Jackson, Alice Marie Lange, Arizona, Jerri Jarman, Fulton; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
The service was held Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. at the Liberty Baptist Church with Revs. James Parnell and Stephen Glover officiating. Burial was in the Liberty Baptist Church Ceme-tery in Thomasville. O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directed.

Lettie Pearl Nolan Champion, 88, of Thomasville died Nov. 13, 2003 at her residence.
She was a member of the Pineview Baptist Church. She was retired from Thomasville Hospital as a registered nurse.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Champion, Memphis, TN, John Champion, Thomas-ville; two daughters, Vivian Loegering, Margaret Denton, both of Thomasville; one sister, Callie Sheehan, Thomas-ville; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
The service was held Nov. 15 at 3 p.m. at the Round Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy R. O’Bryant officiating. Burial was in the Round Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomasville. O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directed. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Baptist Childrens Home in Troy.

Clifford Wilmont Davis, 77, of Fulton died Nov. 12, 2003 at Mobile Infirmary.
He was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Fulton. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a retired scale house operator for Scotch Lumber Company.
Survivors include three sons, Jim Davis, Byron Davis, both of Jackson, Craig Davis, Fulton; one daughter, Carolyn Davis McNider, Fulton; one brother, Everette Davis, Thomasville; one sister, Minnie Lee Anderson, Millbrook; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
The service was held Nov. 15 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Fulton with Revs. Johnny Gillis and Mike Bedsole officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Thomasville. O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directed.

Brian Cornelius (Ju) Kennedy, 19, of Lower Peach Tree died Nov. 12, 2003 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
He was a senior at Wilcox Central High School in Camden.

Moore
Morris Edward Moore, 71, of Walker Springs died Nov. 27, 2003 at Jackson Medical Center.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the 31st Infantry Regiment Association. He was a member of the Korean Chapter Association of Mobile. He was a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church of Walker Springs. He was a member of the Cherokee Tribe of N.E. Alabama. He had been a self-employed commercial shrimper. He had been a cattle farmer. He established Fran’s Flower Farm which was Clarke County’s first certified green house. He was a specialist Boston fern grower. His flower farm was awarded the Century and Heritage Farm Certification by the Department of Agriculture and Industries. He was a retired supervisor at Brookley Field in Mobile. After retirement he worked for the Jackson hospital for 20 years as a maintenance supervisor.
Survivors include his wife Frances Moore, Walker Springs; one son, Ronald Moore, Walker Springs; one granddaughter, Jennie Moore, Walker Springs; four brothers, Cecil Dwayne Moore, Bobby C. Moore, both of Grove Hill, Jerry Moore, Rush Springs, OK, Donald Moore, Jackson.
The service was held Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. with Revs. William Allison, Nadine Walters and Tommy Gaillard officiating at the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. Pianist was Mrs. Beth Criswell. Soloist was Chester Vrocher. Burial was in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Walker Springs.

James Ray Stoker, 61, of Millry died Nov. 24, 2003 in a Mobile hospital.
He was a native of Washington County. He was a tug boat captain for the American Commercial Barge Lines.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Stoker, Millry; two daughters, Gwen Chafin, Millry, Angie Phillips, Chatom; a close family friend that was considered a daughter, Michelle Holston, also of Millry; his mother, Minnie Lee Stoker, St. Stephens; three sisters, Nellie Everett, Chatom, June Wilson, Kathy Dumas, both of Grove Hill; five grandchildren.
The service was held Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom. Burial was in the Barlow United Methodist Cemetery in Millry.

Giles
Letha Mae Doggett Giles, 93, a native and longtime resident of Silas, and resident of Mobile, departed this life on Dec. 1, 2003 at her residence.
She was a faithful member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Silas for many years and a member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church in Mobile until the time of her death.
Survivors include seven daugthers, Imogene Beard, Devon Gibson, Grace Pilot and Alice Higgins, all of Mobile, Glendine McCarty, Horsehoe Bay, TX, Patsy Cotten and Sybil Shepherd, both of Coffeeville; three sons, Jim Giles, Fairhope, Leon Giles of Amherst, VA, Ronnie Giles of Elk Grove, CA; 28 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; one sister, Julie McDuffie of Gilbertown and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Herman Giles Sr. and four grandchildren, Linda Gibson Hurst, Gayle Lee McKee and twin infants Russell and Raymond Giles.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service on Thursday, Dec. 4 (today) at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Silas.
Burial will be at The Advent Cemetery in Silas. Mobile Memorial Gardens directed.

Fleming
David Chapman Fleming Jr., 78, of Evergreen died May 16, 2004 at his residence.
He grew up in Clarke County. He finished high school at Coffeeville High School.
Survivors include his wife, Ernestine Fleming, Evergreen; one daughter, Rosemary Frost, Monroeville; one sister, Addie Lou Beverly, Montgomery; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces and other relatives.
A graveside service was held May 19 at 11 a.m. at the Magnolia Cemetery in Evergreen. Cope Funeral Home of Evergreen directed.
James
Flora Overstreet James, 81, of Selma died May 12, 2004.
She was born in Clarke County.
Survivors include one daughter, Wilda Buffaloe; three brothers, Jim Overstreet, Roy Overstreet, both of Chatom, Ben Overstreet, Citronelle; two grandchildren, Donna Oldright, Orrville, Joe Buffaloe, Garland, Texas; four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Leon James.
The service was held May 14 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home in Selma with Rev. John Davis officiating. Burial was in the New Live Oak Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Westend Baptist Church.

Blakeney
Harrell Blakeney, 83, of Thomasville died March 9, 2004 at Mobile Infirmary.
He was a native of Marengo County. He was a member of the Pineview Baptist Church. He had worked as a salesman and manager with a local furniture store. He was a state representative in the Alabama Legislature for 12 years and a former city councilman for the city of Thomasville. He was a veteran of World War II He was retired from the Alabama National Guard. He was a member of the American Legion Post 112 in Thomasville. He was a past master of the Nanafalia Masonic Lodge F & AM. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Alabama Sheriff’s Boys and Girls Ranch.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Dillard Blakeney, Thomasville; one son, Earl Parrish, Thomasville; one daughter, Eula Thompson, Fayette; three nephews, Bill Blakeney, Sweet Water, Randy Blakeney, Tuscaloosa, Blakeney Rogers, Fayetteville, Ga.
The service was held March 11 at 2 p.m. at the Pineview Baptist Church with Revs. Scott Myers and Paul Earley officiating. Burial was in the Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville. O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directed.

Tom R. Gates, 101, of Thomasville died March 9, 2004 at Thomasville Infirmary.
He had worked as a farmer. He attended the Lower Peach Tree United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a niece, Thelma Mercer, Edna, TX; two cousins, Lullene Hare LaFlore, Pat Bradford, both of Thomasville; several other nieces and nephews.
The service was held March 11 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Faircloth officiating. Burial was in the Gates Cemetery in Scyrene.

Jack Stephens, 71, of Grove Hill died May 15, 2004 at his residence.
He was a native of Thomasville. He was a member of the Grove Hill Baptist Church. He was a retired millwright with McMillan-Bloedel Paper Mill.
Survivors include his wife, Nell Pugh Stephens, Grove Hill; two sons, Kerry Stephens, Kliff Stephens, both of Grove Hill; three brothers, Hollis Stephens, Austin, Texas, Everette Stephens, Grove Hill, Herman Stephens, Chilton; one sister, Sally Evans, Carthage, Miss.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
