Lewis
Louise Hayes Lewis, 90, of Pensacola, Fla. died Feb. 13, 2005.
She was known as “Baby Sis.” She was a native of Octon, AL. When she resided in Alabama she was a member of Jones Chapel C.M.E. Church and joined in the choir. When she moved to Florida she became a member of the Antioch Baptist Church from which she was titled “Mother” of the church. She was a member of the N. Smith Club and senior choir. Later when she relocated to New Jersey she became a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church of Hackensack, N.J. until her death.
Survivors include eight sons, Willie James (Allie), Sweet Water, Phillip Ray (Mary), Hackensack, N.J., Emerson (Lillie), Tommy James, Robert, Roy Lee (Sharon), all of Pensacola, Fla., James (Zerline), Passaic, N.J.; three daughters, Gertha Blackmon, Mildred Thomas, both of Hackensack, N.J., Bernice (David) Kennedy, Pensacola, Fla.; one brother, Gordon Hayes, Nescopeck, Penn.; one sister, Felma Guins, Birmingham; two brother-in-laws, Early (Louise) Lewis, Mobile, Willie (Louise) Price , San Antonio, Texas, Ernest Pugh, Paterson, N.J.; three sisters-in-law, Oralee Lewis, Cleveland, Ohio, Viola Dunning, Sweet Water, Ella B. Hayes, Nescopeck, Penn.; 49 grandchildren; 103 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Ozzie Lewis; son, Joe Lewis and daughter, Thelma Lewis.
The service was held Feb. 19 at Antioch Baptist Church in Pensacola, Fla. with Rev. Nathanial Smith officiating. Mosley Funeral Home and Joe Morris Funeral Home of Pensacola, Fla. directed.
Martin
Augustus L. Martin, 77, of Birmingham died Feb. 18, 2005.
He was born to Delia H. Martin and the late Gross Martin on July 30, 1927 in Marengo County. He was a graduate of the Marengo High School. He attended Alabama A & M University. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Air Force. He was a faithful member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church for over 40 years. He currently was serving as Assistant Chairman of the Deacon Board, Sanctuary Choir member, Male chorus member and Sunday School teacher. He had also served as Sunday School Superintendent Trustee and Senior Choir Member.
Survivors include his mother, Delia H. Polk; one son, Eric Martin, Gadsden; two daughters, Cheryl M. Thurman, Sandra M. (Albert) Ray, Birmingham; one sister, Doris Williams; two brothers, Mack (Cathy) Martin and Dwight (Bernice) Martin, Marengo County; six grandchildren; great-grandchildren; aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends and relatives.
The service was held Feb. 24 at noon at the Jones Chapel C.M.E. Church in Dixons Mills with Revs. Clinton McCorvey, pastor and Calvin Shears officiating. Burial was in the Jones Chapel C.M.E. Church in Dixons Mills. Mosley Funeral Home of Thomasville directed.
Pallbearers were grandsons and sons.
Flowerbearers were granddaughters and daughters.
Calhoun
Mamie Lee “Baby Mae” Calhoun, 82, died Jan. 24, 2005.
She was the fourth child born to the late Deacon Oliver and Luberta Robinson. She joined the First Baptist Church of Whatley. After relocating to California in 1974 she joined Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church. She loved reading. Her hobbies included cooking, quilting and gardening. She enjoyed cooking large meals for everyone. She quilted many quilts for family members and grew vegetables and plants in her garden.
Survivors include one son, Johnny Calhoun Jr., Carson, Calif.; two daughters, Willie Deloris (Willie) Lanier, Grove Hill, Minnie L. (Carthur) McAllister, Carson, Calif.; one sister, Nettie Lou Robinson; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; seven sisters-in-law, one uncle and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert Straughter, Theodore and Vernon Robinson.
The service was held Jan. 31 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. E.E. Stafford, officiant, directing. Burial was in the Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, Calif.
Active pallbearers were George Robinson, Daniel Robinson, James Horn, Don Robinson, Theodore Robinson Jr. and Gary Horn.

Nichols
Virginia Harrell Nichols, 82, of Selma died Feb. 15, 2005 at her residence.
She was a native of Clarke County. She was the office manager for General Battery Company. She also worked for the Dallas County School System, retiring in 1991.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Preston McDaniel, Augusta, Ga.; one brother, Bill Harrell, Pennington; two grandsons; two great-grandsons; and several nieces, including, Ann Clarke, Grove Hill, and nephews.
She was the widow of Fred Nichols.
The service was held Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Wyatt officiating. Burial was in the Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville. Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma directed.
Pallbearers were Jason Knight, Jared Knight, Scott McDaniel, Paul McDaniel, Murphy Clark, and James Powell.
Stine
Richard Royce Stine, 69, of Monroeville died Feb. 22, 2005 at Monroe County Hospital.
He was born in Clarke County. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church and the Navy Reserve. He had worked as a sheet metal welder and with Vanity Fair and Gate Precast Company. He was a member of the North Baldwin Umpire Association and the Alabama High School Athletic Assoiation.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Stine, Monroeville; one son, Kevin (Kristen) Stine, Clearwater, Fla.; two daughters, Karla (Rusty) Patterson, Kerry (Chad) Chandler, all of Excel; three sisters, Rebecca McElahannon, Marie Higgins, both of Oklahoma, Terri Smallwood, California; eight grandchildren.
The service was held Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Revs. Ronnie Holmes and Paul McLendon officiating. Burial was in the Monroe Chapel Funeral Home Cemetery.

Linda Sue Allday, 54, of Coffeeville died Feb. 25, 2005 at her residence.
She was a member of the Coffeeville Baptist Church. She was a water board clerk for the Town of Coffeeville.
Survivors include one son, Jeremy Blake Allday, Coffeeville; one daughter, Shae Allday Goodman, Chilton; two brothers, Billy Gates, Texas City, Texas, Karl Gates, Boulder, Col.; two sisters, Peggy G. Overstreet, Gainestown, Becky A. Ragan, Waverly, Tenn.; two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Allday.

Marjorie C. Logan, 88, of Grove Hill died Feb. 15, 2005 at Country Oaks #1 Assisted Living in Thomasville.
She was a native of Allen. She was a member of the Magnolia Assembly of God Church. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley S. Wright, Grove Hill, Elizabeth Sharpe, Semmes; one son, Gerald Michael Logan, Lake Charles, La.; one brother, David A. Coleman, Lake Placid, Fla.; three sisters, Hazel L. Gibbons, Pascagoula, Miss., Frances Sutley, Theodore, Irene Beverly, Bossier City, La.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
The service was held Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home of Grove Hill with Revs. Blly Cardwell, David Curtis and Jack Wright officiating. Grandson-in-law Gary Pickard spoke personal words in remembrance of “Granny.” Granddaughter Kathy Pickard sang “Safe in the Arms of Jesus.” Burial was in the Allen Cemetery.

Hamilton
M.C. Hamilton, 91, of Fulton died Feb. 25, 2005 at his residence.
He was a native of Sweet Water. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fulton. He was retired as a logging superintendent of 64 years with Scotch Lumber Company.
Survivors include three sons, Bill Hamilton, Charlie Hamilton, both of Grove Hill, Jack Hamilton, Arab; two daughters, Betty Bradford, Fulton, Nita Skellie, Richland, Ga.; one sister, Mary Ezell, Lavaca; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren.
The service was held Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Fulton with Rev. John Coker officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Thomasville. O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville directed.

McGilberry
Helen Catherine McGilberry, 84, of Monroeville died Feb. 22, 2005 at the Monroe County Hospital.
She was a former machine operator at a local shirt factory. She was a member of the County Line Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Westbrook, Pine Hill, Irene Brackins, Hartford; one daughter-in-law, Juanita Matchett, Frisco City; one grandson, Mike (Kim) McGilberry, Frisco City; one great-grandson, Daniel McGilberry, Frisco City; several nephews, nieces and other relatives.
The service was held Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. at the chapel of O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville with Rev. Jimmy Collins officiating. Burial was in the County Line Baptist Church Cemetery in Arlington.

Robison
Agnes Jeanette Robison, 82, of Thomasville died Feb. 23, 2005 at Thomasville Infirmary.
She was a native of Campbell. She had worked as a bookkeeper with Bedsole Furniture Store. She was a member of the Pineview Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Philip (Elaine) Robison, Uniontown; one daughter, Patricia (Charles) Pilkington, Thomasville; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
The service was held Feb. 25 at 11 a.m. at the Pineview Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Myers officiating. Burial was in the Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville. O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directed.

Brewer
Alberta Allgood Brewer, 88, of Jackson died March 3, 2005.
She was a native of Jasper County, Miss. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson where she taught Sunday school for 50 years. She was treasurer of the First Baptist Church WMU. She was past president and state officer of the Jackson Home Extension Club. She served as secretary for Alabama family and community leaders.
Survivors include three children and their spouses, Jesse and Barbara Brewer, Jerry and Rheba McNeely, both of Jackson, Bob and Peggy Wilder of Peachtree City, Ga.; one granddaughter; three grandsons; two step-grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Brewer.
The service was held March 5 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home. Burial was in the Pine Crest Cemetery in Jackson.
Active pallbearers were Robert O’Gynn, Carl Jackson, Arlen York, Sam Meadows, Norvelle Jones and Gene Reynolds.

Haskew
J.B. Haskew, 84, died Feb. 13, 2005 at a health facility in Birmingham.
He was the tenth child born to the late Johnny Bishop Haskew and Candice Elizabeth Larrimore Haskew. He attended public schools in Clarke County and graduated from Thomasville High School in 1938. He attended Athens College and the Divinity School of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He was married to the late Euphie Vera Hall of Scottsboro. He became a member of the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1946 and was ordained as an elder in 1948. He served churches throughout North Alabama and retired in 1982 at which time he and his family moved to Birmingham. His wife, Euphie, died in 1989 and he married the late Sarah Katherine McDonald Armstrong in 1992. She preceded him in death on June 9, 1997.
Survivors include two sons, John Hall Haskew, Birmingham, Timothy Francis Haskew, Kennesaw, Ga.; one brother, Coma Haskew, Saraland; one sister, Ruth Pettis, Chickasaw; one grandson; one granddaughter.
The service was held Feb. 16 at Mountain Chapel in Hoover. Burial followed in Scottsboro. Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood directed.
White
C.S.M. Issac B. White, 40, of Huntsville died Feb. 25, 2005 in Texas.
He was stationed in Ft. Hood, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Veronica Buxton White, Huntsville; two children, Tiya and Brenton White, Huntsville; his mother, Amelia White, Putnam; seven brothers, Roy White, New Jersey, Willie (Sharon) White, Eight Mile, Larry (Marion) White, Irvington, New Jersey, Ralph (Denise) White, Easton, Penn., Albert (Anita) White, Hillsdale, New Jersey; five sisters, Snow (Patrick) Brown, Irvington, New Jersey, Ana White, East Orange, New Jersey, Sharron White, Inez White, Newark, New Jersey, Adell (Gyles) Cade, Putnam; mother-in-law, Mary L. Boyette
John William Boyette Jr., 57, of Thomasville died March 4, 2005 in Yellow Bluff.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Gayle Boyette, Thomasville; his mother, Ida Mae Boyette, Grove Hill; two sons, John T. Boyette, Thomasville, Kenneth L. Boyette, Montgomery; two sisters, Genise Calloway, Mobile, Peggie Mae Black, Nicholsville; two brothers, Alex F. Boyette, Beatrice, Sam Boyette, Grove Hill; eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Clay Boyette.
The service was held March 7 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville with Revs. Hal Taylor and Jackie Cleveland officiating. Burial was in the Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville. Military honors provided by the United States Army from Ft. Rucker.

Johnny Pearl Stegall, 58, of Dixons Mills died Feb. 25, 2005 at Searcy Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
He had worked as a tobacco processor with the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for 20 years. His hobbies were roller-skate dancing and billiard games.
Survivors include three daughters, Robin Lenneice Stegall, Atlanta, Ga., Wanda (Andre) Riley, Atmore, Johnetta Stegall, Winston Salem, N.C.; four sisters, Dorothy (Tommie) Jones, Orlando, Fla., Birdie Mae Williams, Atmore, Thelma (Robert) Johnson, Dixons Mills, Gwynn (Bishop Jewell) Thomas, Gadsden; one brother, David (Ruth) Stegall, Gadsden; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a host of nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alford Stegall and Discie Hosea; two sisters, Iola Stegall Riley and Lenneice Stegall and one brother, James Stegall.
The service was held March 5 at 1 p.m. at the Jones Chapel C.M.E. Church in Dixons Mills with Bishop Jewell Thomas, officiating and Rev. Clinton McCorvey, pastor. Burial was in the Green Memorial Cemetery in Dixons Mills. Mosley’s Funeral Home of Thomasville directed. Law
Elder Willie James Law, 47, of the Ebenezer community of Coffeeville died July 17, 2005 at his residence.
He was a pastor of the Clarksville A.O.H. Church and McWilliam A.O.H. Church. He was a laborer at Scotch Lumber Company in Fulton.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Hunt Law, Coffeeville; two daughters, Bridgett A. Law, Melissa D. Law, both of Coffeeville; his mother, Lucille Coates Henry, Coffeeville; two brothers, Jack D. Law Jr., Charles E. Law Sr., both of Coffeeville.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 20 from 2 until 5 p.m. at the chapel of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home. The service will be held Thursday, (today), July 21 at 11 a.m. at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in the Ebenezer community. Viewing will also begin at 10 a.m. at the church until the service begins. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home of Jackson will direct.
Fowler
Mable Ruth Fowler, 90, of Grove Hill died July 16, 2005 in a local nursing facility.
She was a native of Suggsville. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. She was a retired clerk for Harrell’s Service Center.
Survivors include one sister, Lois H. Pitcock, Grove Hill; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The service was July 18 at 11 a.m. at the Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. John Montalvo officiating. Burial was in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directed.
