Lyles

Annie Mae Lyles, 87, of Thomasville died July 12, 2005 at Lakeview Assisted Living in Sweet Water.

She was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Thomasville. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include one daughter, Susan Lyles, Thomasville; one brother, James B. Wiggins, Cove City, N.C.; one sister, Syble Thomas, Butler; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; three great-grandsons.

The service was July 14 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Revs. Hal Taylor and Gary Patrick officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Thomasville.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Alabama Baptist Childrens Home, P.O. Box 361767, Birmingham, AL 35236 or Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Building Fund, 1661 Highway 5, Thomasville, AL 36784.

Active pallbearers were Wayne Morgan, Pete Sheehan, Stan Sheehan, Belton Wiggins, Mike Thomas and Bill Pugh.

Honorary pallbearers were Wiregrass Hospice, Infirmary Hospice and Aseracare Hospice employees.

McGee

Louie Seals McGee, 74, of Camden died July 14, 2005 at his residence.

He was a native of Maplesville. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a former truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Mae McGee, Camden; three stepsons, David Joiner, Douglas (Karen) Joiner, both of Dempolois, Donald (Tiffany) Joiner, Axis; five stepdaughters, Debbie (Tim) Stephens, Darlene (Roy) Phillips, Denice (Johnny) Reid, all of Thomasville, Danette (Ken) Baker, Prattville, Teresa (Lanny) Sutton, Staunton, Va.; one brother, James R. McGee, Hayden; two sisters, Ola Jean Haigler, Maplesville, Joe Ann Griffin, Tuscaloosa; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

The service was July 17 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville with Revs. Tommy Primm and Don Newton officiating. Burial was in the Midway Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomasville.

Active pallbearers were David Joiner, Douglas Joiner, Donald Joiner, Ken Baker, Michael McGee and J.R. McGee.

Ott

Cathy Jean Ott, 53, of Grove Hill died July 15, 2005 at her residence.

She was a native of Suggsville.

Survivors include her husband, James J. Ott, Grove Hill; her mother, Minnie Zeola Fuller, Whatley; one son, Roy Wade, Grove Hill; two daughters, Vickie Dillman, Gallion, Kristie Smith, Grove Hill; nine brothers, Junior Fuller, Tommy Fuller, George Fuller, Bennie Fuller, all of Whatley, Charles Fuller, Warren Fuller, Travis Fuller, all of Grove Hill, Cecil Fuller, Walker Springs, Curtis Fuller, Allen; three sisters, Betty White, Nell McConnell, Lucille Vick, all of Whatley; five grandchildren.

The service was July 16 at 3 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Harrison officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Coffeeville. O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville directed.

Active pallbearers were Chad Ott, Jeremy Vick, Donald Pugh, Clay Baugh, Daniel Fuller and Brent Fuller.

Walker

Thelma P. Walker, 82, of Thomasville died July 8, 2005 at her daughter’s home in Forkland.

She was a member of the Elam Baptist Church. She was a home health care worker.

Survivors include three sons, Larry (Becky) Brasell, Camden, Shelton Brasell, Tennyson Brasell, both of Thomasville; two daughters, Faye Tutt, Forkland, Barbara (Julian) Tyler, Pine Hill; one sister, Nora Bell (Raymond) Etheridge, Pine Hill; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.

The service was July 13 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Dunn officiating. Burial was in the Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville. O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville directed.

Active pallbearers were Robert Tutt, Robin Tutt, Tracy Brasell, David Brasell, Jay Tyler and Rodney Smith.

Honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters, Deborah Bambarger, Pattie Kortbawi and Melissa Tyler.

Woolfolk

Alda Rae Woolfolk, 71, of Monroeville died July 14, 2005 at her residence.

She was a native of Clarke County. She was a member of the Eastwood Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, Gregory Woolfolk, El Paso, Texas; three brothers, Willie “B.” Sheffield, Chatom, Ray Sheffield, Larry Gene Sheffield, both of Grove Hill; two sisters, Nell Dunn, Jackson, Clarice Hoven, Grove Hill; one grandson.

The service was July 16 at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville. Burial was in the Monroeville Memorial Gardens.

Portis

Gladys Dickinson Portis, 68, of Grove Hill died Aug. 22, 2005 at Springhill Memorial Hospital in Mobile.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grove Hill. She was retired as a nutritionist with the Clarke County Board of Education.

Survivors include three sons, Norris Portis, Derrick Portis, both of Grove Hill, Al Portis, Jackson; two sisters, Willodean Carter, Detroit, Mich., Maggie Wrights, Manila; three grandchildren.

The service will be Saturday, Aug. 27 at 1 p.m. at the Orange Hill Baptist Church in Grove Hill. Visitation will be at the church Friday, Aug. 26 from 6 until 8 p.m. and two hours prior to the service on Saturday. Rosary will be Friday during the visitation with Father James Havens to officiate. Burial will be in the Orange Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Andrews Funeral Home will direct.

Atchison

Jennifer Anne Lee Atchison, 43, of Carlton died March 26, 2005 at her residence.

She was a native of Birmingham. She was a member of the Rockville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Chad Atchison, Carlton; one daughter, Mary Beth Jones, LaGrange, Ga.; parents, Frank and Joann Lee, Carlton; three brothers, Daniel V. Lee, Birmingham, Mark F. Lee, Jackson, Jason C. Lee, Mobile; grandmother, Sarah Scroggins, Phoenix City.

The service was held March 30 at 10:30 a.m. at the Rockville Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Dunn officiating. Burial was in Gaddy’s Chapel Cemetery on the Walker Springs Road in Jackson. Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directed.

Blackmon

Blanche Mae Gwin Blackmon, 98, of Tibbie died March 26, 2005 in a Washington County Nursing Home.

She was a native of Marengo County. She was a member of Peniel Baptist Church in Jackson. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, Lister R. Blackmon, Wagarville; two sisters, Ann Thomas, Jackson, Elsie Sullivan, Portland, Oregon; two sisters, Herman Long, Selma, Lucille Reed, Portland, Oregon; 25 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; three great-great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held March 29 at 2 p.m. in the Peniel Baptist Church Cemetery in Jackson with Rev. Curtis Thomas officiating. Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directed.

Active pallbearers were Thomas Bradley, Jimmy Bradley, Robert Bradley, Boyd Bradley, William Bradley and Hunter Bradley.

Honorary pallbearer was John Jenkins and Benny Williams.

Harper

Arvie Henry Harper, 78, of Jackson died March 22, 2005 in McIntosh. He was a native of Lucedale, Miss.

He was retired from the United States Army after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from service he worked for Slayton Oil Company in Jackson as a truck driver. He was a member of the Forest Avenue Baptist Church in Jackson. He was a member of the local V.F.W.

Survivors include one son, John (Bonnie) Harper, Creola; one daughter, Brenda (Rodney) Drew, Mobile; four sisters, Foula (Monroe) Purvis, Coffeeville, Rubye Pysher, Jackson, Pauline (Thomas) Smyly, St. George, Utah, Shirley (Bob) Smith, Layfayette, La.; a special friend, Mary Walthall, McIntosh; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orbie and William Harper, a brother, Elvin Harper and brother-in-law, Earl Pysher.

The service was held March 25 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. Burial was in the Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson. Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directed.

Lammon

John Duncan Lammon, 73, of Jackson died March 27, 2005 at his residence after a long bout with heart and Parkinson’s disease.

He was a long time member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Walker Springs. He was a four-year veteran of the United States Navy having served in Korea. He was retired from the United States Postal Service after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Santa Fe Lodge #226 in Jackson. He was a member of the Scottish Rite in Mobile. He was member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the grandson and namesake of a Confederate veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Melanie Lammon, Jackson; two sons, Dwight Lammons, Coker, Dan Lammon, Birmingham; five grandsons.

The service was held March 30 at 2 p.m. in the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. Burial was in the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery in Walker Springs. Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directed.

Active pallbearers were Daniel P. Lammon, David H. Lammon, Scott Lammon, Eddie Pezent, Ronnie Moore and Earl King.

Honorary pallbearers were Pee Wee Hoven, Marion Wilson, Willard Bayles, Lem Finney, Tommy Windham, Kenneth Autry, Willard Nichols, John D. Gill, John D. Purvis, Infirmary Hospice Nurses, Gay Walker, Michelle Wilson and Kim Adams.

Tate

Mary Estelle Tate, 93, of Grove Hill died March 5, 2005 in Dothan.

She was a native of Butler County. She resided in Dothan prior to her death. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grove Hill.

Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Tate, Dothan, Martha Hamilton, Arab; two sisters, Myra Belle Hadley, Mobile, Louise Hayes, Green ville; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

The service was held March 7 at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Grove Hill with Rev. David Curtis officiating. Burial was in the Magnolia Lawn Cemetery in Grove Hill. Lathan Funeral Home of Grove Hill directed.

Active pallbearers were Jimmy Ricketts, Don Ricketts, Johnny Reid, Doug Hamilton, Tommy Hamilton, Trey Hamilton, Will Hamilton and Barry Isom.

Deas

Maggie Eugenia Cravey Deas, 93, of Prattville died May 2, 2005 at a local health care facility.

She was a native of the Winn Community of Clarke County. She was a lifelong resident of Clarke County. She spent the past 16 months of her life in Prattville. She taught elementary school for nine years at Coffeeville High School. Thereafter she ran Deas’ Grocery for approximately 15 years in the Union Chapel Community.

Survivors include one son, Jimmy Kenneth (Virginia) Deas, Prattville; one daughter, Mary Susan Deas Green man (Chris) Montgomery; one brother, William Cue Cravey, Jackson; three sisters, Minnie Alice Cravey Beverly, Thomasville, Della Mae Cravey McGowin, Monroeville, Eunice Eloise Cravey Finley, Mobile; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Mathias Deas, one daughter, Molly Rebecca Deas Andrews, her parents, John Israel Cravey, Clara Eugenia Leonard Cravey; five brothers and two sisters.

The service will be held Thursday, (today), May 5 at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. Rev. Robin Sanders will officiate. Burial will follow in the Coffeeville Cemetery. Visitation will be held beginning at 1 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Kirk

Mary Virginia Kirk, 95, of Citronelle died April 28, 2005.

She was a retired school teacher with the Mobile County School Board. She taught in the Mobile system as well as Clarke County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Citronelle.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Cunningham, Marilyn Odom, both of Citronelle; two brothers, James Klepac, Tuscaloosa, Rev. Msr. Kenneth “Buddy” Klepac, Mobile; one sister, Ann Roberts, Mobile; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William Clyde Kirk.

The service was held May 2 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Jackson with Dr. Tim Huie, Rev. Rex Simmons and Father Kenneth “Buddy” Klepac officiating. Burial was in the Pine Crest Cemetery in Jackson. Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directed.

Active pallbearers were Peter Gulsby, Paul Gulsby, Bo Odom, John Odom, Hank Ross and Doug Chin.

James

Laurentine Pritchett James, 80, of Destin, Fla. died April 28, 2005.

She was a native of Coffeeville. She was a member of the Village Baptist Church in Destin. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters, Robin Corley, Irvington, Vicki James, Corpus Christi, Texas; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held April 30 in Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson. Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directed.

Irvin

Imogene K. Irvin, 74, of Nanafalia died April 26, 2005 in Rush Hospital in Meridian, Miss.

She was a native of Marengo County. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Bernard Stanton Irvin, Nanafalia; two sons, Stanley (Avis) Irvin, Roger (Jackie) Irvin, both of Nanafalia; three daughters, Gloria Hearn, Nanafalia, Doris Faye Reid, Jackson, Tenn., Christine (Bill) Nelson, Barton, Miss.; four sisters; four brothers; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

The service was held April 28 at 1 a.m. at the chapel of O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville with Rev. W.J. Cannon officiating. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Sweet Water.

Larrimore

Jewell Bradford Larrimore, 84, of Monroeville died April 28, 2005 at Monroe County Hospital.

She was a native of Scyrene. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fulton. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, Larry Larrimore, Monroeville; one daughter, Laura Larrimore Basye, Arlington, Texas; one sister, Elaine Bradford Dixon, Thomasville; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E.P. Larrimore and a daughter, Claudette Larrimore Jackson.

The service was held April 30 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Fulton with Rev. Mike Bedsole officiating. Burial was in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomasville. O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville directed.

Active pallbearers were Alton Bradford, Chad Bradford, Pratt Patton, Roy E. Andrews, Brad Larrimore and Joseph Bronzi.

McIntyre

Frank Shird McIntyre, 77, of Monticello, Ark., died Saturday, April 23, 2005 at his residence.

He was born Jan. 27, 1928, in Jackson, Ala. He was a son of the late Joseph McIntyre and Emily Lowery McIntyre.

McIntyre retired from the Air Force and had served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

He was also retired from the Monticello Occupational Educational Center. He worked as a building contractor.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph E. McIntyre and Daniel S. McIntyre, both of Monticello, Ark.; two sisters, Syble Sanford of Chickasaw and Katherine Sanders of Mobile; and a half-sister, Daisy Osborn of Chickasaw.

The service was held Tuesday, April 26 at 1 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. Burial was held in the Oakland Cemetery with military honors.

Bolden

Eugene Edward Bolden Sr., 43, of Bladon Springs died May 8, 2005 at Mobile Infirmary.

He was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church in Bladon Springs.

Survivors include three daughters, Jennifer Bolden, Coffeeville, Brittany Bolden, Elexis E. Bolden, both of Bladon Springs; one son, Eugene Bolden Jr., Silas; five sisters, Terrie A. Legrande, Orlando, Fla., Betty Kimbrough, St. Stephens, Arnett Duff, Mt. Sterling, Jannie Dearmon, San Antonio, Texas, Christine Bolden, Butler; seven brothers, Jimmy Bolden, Daleville, Tommy Bolden, Baton Rouge, La., J.B. Bolden, Manuel Bolden, both of San Antonio, Texas, Johnny R. Bolden, Segeim, Texas, James Bolden, Long Beach, Calif., Billy Bolden, Bladon Springs.

The service was held May 14 at 2 p.m. at the Antioch Baptist Church in Bladon Springs. Burial was in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home of Jackson directed.
