Milton Bracy Sr., 85, better known as “Nay” of Jackson died May 7, 2005 at Providence Hospital in Mobile.
He was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise Bracy, Jackson; one son, Milton Bracy Jr., Jackson; five daughters, Mary J. Bracy, Zimco, Lorraine Johnson, Sharon Coates, both of Leroy, Patricia Bracy, Jackson, Carolyn Cade, St. Stephens; two sisters, Loretta Adams, Jackson, Josephine Nichols, Mobile; 24 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.
The service was May 14 at the Greater Mt. Sinai Church of Jackson. Burial was in the Greater Mt. Sinai Church Cemetery. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home of Jackson directed.
Collins
Areatha Collins, 61, of Leroy died May 22, 2005 at Jackson Hospital.
She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church of Prestwick where she served as Sunday school teacher and choir director. She was a retired educator and taught in the Washington County School System as a teacher at Leroy High School. She was a member of the Alabama Retired Teacher Association. She worked with the youth department of the Bladon Springs Association. She was a graduate of Alabama A & M University of Huntsville and the University of South Alabama in Mobile.
Survivors include two sisters, Elease Collins Powe, Daphne, Dr. Edwina Collins Brown, Anchorage, Ak; three brothers, Alex Collins Jr., Homestead, Fla., Dr. Douglas Cardwell Collins, Stone Mountain, Ga., Robert T. Collins, Newport News, Va.; two foster brothers, Cleveland Williams, Oakland, Calif., Alex Travis Oxenhill, Calif.
The service will be held Monday, May 30 at 1 p.m. at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church of Prestwick. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home will direct.
Darrington
Melanie Darlisha Darrington, 13, of Jackson died May 6, 2005 in a car accident.
She was a student at Jackson Middle School.
Survivors include her father, Calvin Stephens, Jackson; her mother, Shann Darrington Gray, Waynesboro, Miss.; three brothers, ChiCory Ward, QarNelis Stephens, both of Waynesboro, Miss., Calvin Stephens Jr., Jackson; two sisters, Jessica Stephens, Mobile, TaQuail Darrington, Waynesboro, Miss.; grandparents, James Darrington Sr., Laurel, Miss., Deloias Darrington, Leroy.
The service was held May 14 at 2 p.m. at the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church of Waynesboro, Miss. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Jackson. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home of Jackson directed.
Howell
Arcola Virginia Love Howell, 91, of Jackson died May 7, 2005 at a retirement home in Mobile.
She was a member of the Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church of Jackson. She served as a choir member, missionary member, Sunday School teacher, member of the Pastor’s Aide Board and a member of the Amies Pride Chapter No. 590 Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, R.L. Howell, Jackson; three daughters, Lillie Howell, Indianapolis, Ind., Alma Cox, Mobile, Martha Foreman, Jackson; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.
The service was held May 14 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church of Jackson. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Jackson. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home of Jackson directed.
Jackson
Champion Jackson Sr. of Rockville died May 20, 2005 at the Jackson Hospital.
He served in the United States Army in World War II. He was a retired operator for Scotch Lumber Company of Mt. Vernon.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Mae Jackson, Rockville; three sons, Champion Jackson Jr., Robert Lee Jackson, Wendell Jackson; Jackson; seven daughters, Shirley Bush, Vickie Brown, Mary Ann Jackson, all of Jackson, Cynthia Champion, Moss Point, Miss., Mattie Williams, Sunflower, Darlene Wilson, Whatley, Mary English, Jackson; 35 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren.
The service will be held Thursday, (today), May 26 at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Olive No. I Baptist Church of Rockville. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive No. I Baptist Church Cemetery. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home of Jackson directed.
Jones
Rodney Kenyal Jones, 29, of Huntsville died May 16, 2005 at a local hospital.
He was a native of Walker Springs. He was a 1993 graduate of Jackson High School. He was a graduate of Alabama A & M University of Huntsville, Iowa State University of Ames, Iowa, Vermont Law School of South Royalton, Va. He was a professor at Alabama A & M University. In Huntsville in April of 2005, he passed the Alabama State Bar. He was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and Big Brothers/Big Sisters Volunteers in Huntsville.
Survivors include his mother, Cynthia Jones, Walker Springs; one daughter, Kiana Jones, Jackson; five brothers, Demarcus Jones, Huntsville, Laqurrio Jones, Antwan Jones, both of Walker Springs, Patrick Phelon, Eugene Phelon Jr., both of Moss Point, Miss.; three sisters, Gwendolyn Jones, Walker Springs, Tamiko Jones Taylor, Jackson, Essie Hicks, Moss Point, Miss.; grandfather, Stewart Darrington, Nashville, Tenn.; one great-grandfather, George Darrington, Montgomery.
The service was May 21 at Jackson High Auditorium. Burial was in the Hotel Hill Cemetery in Walker Springs with Rev. Leroy Mulvoy officiating. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home of Jackson directed.
King
Mary Cox King, 69, of Toddtown died May 19, 2005 at USA Knollwood Hospital in Mobile.
She was a retired insurance agent for Protective Life Insurance Company. She was a member of the Pine Chapel No. 2 Baptist Church of Toddtown where she sang in the senior choir. She was a member of the missionary society.
Survivors include her mother, Alma Cox, Toddtown; one daughter, Henrietta Lucas, Riverside, Calif.; three brothers, Leo Cox, Jackson, Charles Cox, Toddtown, Carlos Cox, Malcolm; three sisters, Bernice Williams, LaVerne, Calif., Carolyn Nicholson, Inglewood, Calif., Annie Brunner, Birmingham; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 27 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the chapel of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home. The service will be held Saturday, May 28 at 11 a.m. at the Pine Chapel No. 2 Baptist Church in Toddtown. Burial will be in the Pine Chapel No. 2 Baptist Church Cemetery. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home will direct.
Atchison
Gayle Skipper Atchison, 55, of Salitpa died May 19, 2005 at her residence.
She was a native of Grove Hill. She was a member of the Grove Hill United Methodist Church. She taught school for over 30 years, presently teaching the Fifth Grade at Clarke Preparatory School in Grove Hill. She was a graduate of the University of South Alabama.
Survivors include her husband, Charles R. Atchison, Salitpa; one son, Thomas Charles “Chip” (Lori) Atchison, Gainestown; one daughter, Ashley Renae Atchison, Mobile; her mother, Mamie Jean Skipper, Grove Hill; two sisters, Donna S. Davis, Grove Hill, Becky (Ken) Bailey, Alberta; one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her father, Oscola Skipper and an infant son.
The service was held May 21 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill with Rev. Scott Myers officiating. Burial was in the Magnolia Lawn Cemetery in Grove Hill.

Ronald Byrd Goodman, 61, of Thomasville died May 20, 2005 at Mobile Infirmary.
He was a former mechanic.
Survivors include one daughter, Julie Goodman Flowers, Demopolis; one sister, Beth Goodman Nellis, Ft. Myers, Fla.; four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Byrd Goodman, his mother, Marion Goodman, one son, William Shannon Goodman, one daughter, Kimberly Jean Goodman, one brother, William R. Goodman.
The service was held May 23 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville with Rev. Richard Scott officiating. Burial was in the Choctaw Corner Cemetery of Thomasville.

Maness
Arward “Bubba” Lambert Maness Jr., 69, of Theodore died May 16, 2005 at USA Knollwood Park Hospital.
He was a member of the Thomasville Baptist Church. He was a retired Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a former heavy equipment operator.
Survivors include his mother, Ida C. Dortch, Theodore; his wife, Nona Faye Maness, Birmingham; one daughter, Paige Maness Huddleston, Birmingham; one brother, James F. Maness, Augusta, Ga.; one sister, Mary F. Bennett, Grand Bay; one brother, James F. Maness, Augusta, Ga.; two grandchildren; special friend, Lenora Bailiff, Augusta, Ga.

Mercer
Betty Jo Mercer, 67, of Bay Minette died May 19, 2005 at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope.
She was a native of Thomasville. She was a former machine operator at a shirt factory.
Survivors include her husband, Jack W. Mercer Sr., Bay Minette; one son, Jack W. Mercer Jr., Bay Minette; four daughters, Janice Sue Johnson, Vickie Lynn Estadt, Renee Thompson, all of Bay Minette, Deborah Ann Johnson, Stapleton; one brother, Walter Gray Dement, Thomasville; one brother, Leo Dement, Mobile; three sisters, Barbara Ann Lynn, Martha Alice Shoemaker, both of Thomasville, Annie Ruth Gaddy, Satsuma; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
The service was held May 22 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville with Rev. Benny Crawford officiating. Burial was in the Midway Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomasville.

Reverend Leroy Shelton Larrimore died Thursday, May 19, 2005 at a local hospital after an extended illness.
A native of Clarke County, Brother Larrimore, as he was affectionately called, received his education at Tennessee Temple College and Seminary (now University) in Chattanooga, Tenn. While attending school he was very active in helping establish mission churches, working at Union Gospel Mission under the leadership of Dr. Lee Roberson and Highland Park Baptist Church.
He served as a minister for 55 years pastoring several churches in Alabama. He retired from Saraland Baptist Church, after serving as pastor for 25 years. Other pastorates include Dixons Mills Baptist Church; Mt. Horeb Baptist Church, Whatley; Mt. Gilead Baptist, Walker Springs; Center Baptist, Lafayette; and Forest Avenue Baptist in Jackson.
He joined the staff of Dauphin Way Baptist in 1999 serving as Minister of Congregational Care and taught the Auditorium Bible Class. He was well known at Mobile area hospitals ministering to patients and their families.
Survivors include “his little honey” his wife Frances; son, Stephen Mark Larrimore of Satsuma; daughter-in-law Mrs. Larry (Sharon) Larrimore of Satsuma; mother-in-law Mrs. Gertrude White of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one brother, Charles (Dot) Larrimore, Chickasaw; four sisters, Mrs. Barbara Vick, Grove Hill, Mrs. Ann (Dennis) Dixon, Thomasville, Mrs. Sara (Leon) Glass, Linden; Mrs. Carolyn (Luther) Gaddy, Thomasville; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is preceded in death by a son, Luther Shelton “Larry” Larrimore.
The service was held Monday, May 23 at Dauphin Way Baptist Church in Mobile. Interment was at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers were Chester Williams, Scott Gaddy, Dennis Glass, Richard Williams, Vince Gaddy, and Ronnie Larrimore.
Honorary pallbearers were Cecil C. Williams, the Monday Morning Men’s Prayer Group and Mobile Baptist Ministers.

Ricky Devon Love, 46, of Montgomery died May 7, 2005.
He was a former resident of Mobile. He was a member of the Hillsdale Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Love, Montgomery; his mother, Irma Love, Mobile; three children, Victoria Love, Lachica Love and Hernandez Love, both of Mobile; three brothers, Michael Love, Roderick Love, Mobile, Frederick (Jacqueline) Love, Birmingham; three grandchildren; two sisters, Cynthia Love, Tanja (Derrick) Felix, Mobile; four stepchildren, Angela, Lawrence (Gloria), Kevin and Tiffany, all of Montgomery; one step-grandchild; numerous aunts; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The service was held May 11 at 11 a.m. at the Phillip Riley Chapel in Montgomery. Burial was in Grove Hill.
