Clyde Reese, 51, of 4002 Richland Road, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 6, 2002, at his residence. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Byrd Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Hollmon officiating. Burial will follow at New Miranda Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. today. Mr. Reese will be placed in the chapel one hour prior to the service Saturday.

Wade Junior Cooper, 71, of Enterprise, formerly of Opp, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, in Flowers Hospital. Funeral arrangements may be obtained by calling Searcy Funeral Home.

Mrs. Laverne Bone Stasyszyn, 79, of Ozark died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, in Dale Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday from Holman Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Clanton, Ala., with the Rev. Jason Clouse officiating and Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors Saturday from 9-10 a.m. with the family receiving friends during this time.

Mr. Bruce Edward Tharpe, 45, of Dothan peacefully passed away Friday, July 26, 2002. A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Ashford United Methodist Church, 500 Adams St., with the Rev. Daniel W. Randall officiating. Internment will follow at the Ashford City Cemetery with Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Ashford United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1007, Ashford, Ala., 36312.

Mrs. Louise Summerford Rafferty, 89, a resident of Winchester, Va., formerly of Dothan, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Winchester Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Dothan City Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Seale officiating and Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home directing.

Mary Ruth Price Smith, 72, of 1629 County Road 81, Abbeville, died unexpectedly early Friday morning, July 26, 2002, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Mr. Carroll Grimes and Mr. Bob Blalock officiating. Burial will follow in the Hutto Cemetery.

Willie James Owens, 62, of 900 Hamilton St., Dothan, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center after an extended illness. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, but will be announced later with a complete list of survivors by Varner Memorial Funeral Home.

Charles C. Baker, 64, of Fort Gaines, Ga., died Friday, July 26, 2002, at the Randolph County Medical Clinic in Cuthbert. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. EDT Monday in the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Clay County, Ga., with the Rev. Randy Stokes and the Rev. Earl Justice officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Chapman Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. CDT today at the funeral home.

Eddie Julian McCook Jr., 79, of 94 Outlaw Road, Webb, died Friday, July 26, 2002, after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roy Winston officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Morgan D. McLelland, 90, of 1804 Myra St., died Friday, July 26, 2002, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center following a brief illness. Robert Beacham, 51, of Midland City died Friday, July 26, 2002, at Flowers Hospital of an apparent heart attack. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Byrd Funeral Home.

Mr. George Washington Johnson, 53, of Ariton died Friday, July 26, 2002, at his home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge with the Rev. Don Grantham, the Rev. Donnie Marler and the Rev. Sammy Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Enon Baptist Church Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing. Visitation was held from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Thelma Caraway Baxley, 95, a resident of Harmonie Home, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 26, 2002, following an extended illness. Her home going celebration will be held at 3 p.m. today at Grandview Baptist Church with Brother Adolph Phares, Brother Jeff Ross, Brother Lee Singley, Brother Richard Sharp and Jerome Baxley officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in the Dothan City Cemetery with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. At all other times, the family will be at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Betty Baxley, 2533 S. Beverlye Road, Dothan. Ana Andrea Lopez Maldonado, 63, of Enterprise died late Friday night, July 26, 2002, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center following a brief illness. Arrangements are incomplete, but will be announced later by Southern Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory.

Mrs. Mary Louise Rucker, 66, of Wauchula, Fla., formerly of Hartford, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, after an extended illness at her daughter’s home in Wauchula. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced later by the Hartford Funeral Home.

William Lee Holder, 46, died Friday, July 26, 2002, in Pensacola from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Whitewater Baptist Church with Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home of Geneva directing. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home of Geneva.

Mrs. Ima Dell Hughes, 73, of Enterprise died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at the home of her niece, Elaine C. Reeves in Chancellor after an extended illness. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday from the Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Belcher and Dr. Don Chancellor officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadowlawn Cemetery with Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-5 p.m. today. At all other times, the family will be at the home of her niece, Elaine Reeves, Reeves Road, El-Bethel Baptist Church community, Chancellor.

Margaret Jeanette Childree, 66, of Ozark died Saturday afternoon, July 27, 2002, at Dale Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, but will be announced later by Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark.

William Harrell Crews, age 64, of 1833 County Road 79, Dothan, died early Friday evening, June 22, 2002, in a Dothan hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today in the Holman-Headland Mortuary chapel with Rev. Danny Quincey and Rev. Travis Free officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:30 p.m. today at the mortuary.

Pearl Champion Braswell, age 96, of 407 Kirkland Street, Abbeville, died early Saturday morning, June 22, 2002, in the Henry County Nursing Home after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2002, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary chapel with Rev. Dan Finney and Rev. Clarence L. Culpepper officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m. today at the mortuary. Flowers will be accepted.

Mary Louise Martin Hood, 95, died of heart failure at Flowers Hospital on Friday, June 21, 2002. The family will receive visitors at the Bratton Funeral Home in York, South Carolina today from 6 until 8 p.m. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2002 at Mt. Vernon Methodist Church in Hickory Grove, SC, with the Rev. Charles Phillips officiating and Bratton Funeral Home directing. Interment will be at her husband's side in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. Byrd Funeral has charge of local arrangements.

Essie Mae Kelley, 93, of 833 Persimmon Street, Dothan, Al died Friday, June 21, 2002 at Extendicare Healthcare Center after an extended illness. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced at a later date along with a complete list of survivors by Varner Memorial Funeral Home.

Eleanor Cobb, 84, of Hartford, died Friday, June 21, 2002, at her home in the Oak Grove Community. Eleanor was born November 9, 1917 in Geneva County Alabama. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. today at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Agnes Bottoms, the Rev. John Sanders, and the Rev. Stanley Nabona officiating. Burial will follow in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery with Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home of Hartford directing. Mrs. Cobb will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. The family will accept flowers or donations could be made to Wiregrass Hospice, 557 Glover Ave., Enterprise, 36330.

Mary Lois Olds Hill, 52, of Campbellton, Fla. passed Saturday morning, June 22, in Flowers Hospital in Dothan. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, but will be announced later by Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville.

Lillie Mae Bennett, 85, a resident of Montgomery, died Saturday, June 22, 2002 in Dothan. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at 3 p.m. at Leak-Memory Chapel with Pastor Danny Shadix officiating. Burial will follow in Green wood Cemetery.

Masedonia Bishop Comer, a resident of Ariton Rt. 1, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at her home. The funeral will be today at 3:30 p.m. at the St. Louis Baptist Church in Elamville with the Rev. Wendell Comer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Bell-Liptrot-Dawson Funeral Home of Brundidge directing. The family hour was in the chapel of the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2002.

Beatrice Odom, 74, of Graceville died Saturday, June 22, 2002 at the Campbellton-Graceville Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2002 at the Chapel of James and Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Chipola Cemetery in Altha, Fla. with James and Lipford Funeral Home of Graceville directing.

Jerry Mack Whiddon, 62, of 20 Worrell Street, Webb, died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at his home. The funeral will be 2 p.m. today in the Chapel of Kent-Thornton Funeral Home. The family will be at 2805 Nottingham Way, Dothan. Interment will be 2 p.m. CST Monday in the Winterville Cemetery in Winterville, Ga., with Kent-Thornton Funeral Home directing.

Ida Ree Haney Williams, 88, of Samson, died Thursday, June 20, 2002, in Wiregrass Medical Center after an extended illness. The funeral will be 2 p.m. today in the Lime Springs Methodist Church with the Rev. Coy Haney officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. Mrs. Williams will be placed in the church one hour prior to the services. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Buddy Hood and Dr. Johnny Fain officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. Mr. Bonner will be placed in the church one hour before service time today. Johnny Lamar Bradley, of North Galaxie Drive in Abbeville, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 26, 2002, in a Dothan hospital after a short illness. He was 51. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Roberson and the Rev. James Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in Abbeville Gardens of Memory. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside. The family will receive friends from noon-2 p.m. today at the mortuary. Wilma C. Stone Elliott of East Church Street in Columbia died early Tuesday morning, Nov. 26, 2002, at her home following an extended illness. She was 94. Private graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Columbia City Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Strickland officiating and Holman-Headland Mortuary directing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Christopher Lee Mathews of the New Hope Community in Holmes County died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, from injuries sustained in a car accident in Coffee County. He was 33. Frances Floyd Roberts Smith, formerly of Abbeville and Urbana, Ill., died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, in Reston, Va. She was 90. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Abbeville Memorial Cemetery with a nephew, Darden Kirby officiating and Holman-Abbeville Mortuary directing. Earl Hillman Waddell of Westgate Parkway in Dothan died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at Mariner Health Care of Bonifay after a brief illness. He was 90. Mr. Johnny Ray “Bubba” Weston Jr., of South Main Street in Louisville, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at the Lakeview Community Hospital. He was 75. The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Louisville Baptist Church with the Rev. R.C. Belcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Louisville Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home of Clio directing. Wilburn Horace Dyson, formerly of Dothan, died in the V.A. Medical Center in Tuskegee, Al., Friday, Dec. 6, 2002. He was 55. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Free Will Baptist Cemetery, near Columbia. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today at the mortuary in Headland.
