Born on Aug. 24, 1942 to Andrew Nelson and Rosie Bell Nelson of Lee County, she died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.
Survivors include her husband, Clyde L. Hay of Clanton; son Jeff (Bonnie) Hay of Clanton; granddaughters Brittany Hay and Jenna Hay of Clanton; sisters Geneva Cleckler, Ruthie Lett and Judy A. Rollan all of Clanton and brother Joey Nelson of Clanton.

Born on May, 1922 to Charlie Columbus Gray and Lellie Bell Gray of Chilton County, she died on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002 at SunBridge Health Care in Elmore.
Survivors include her sons Charles (Linda) Williams of Clanton and Carlton (Jane) Williams of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters Lillie Ruth (Jimmy) Wright of Clanton, Geneva Chandler of Clanton and Judy (Joe) Mims of Verbena; brother George Gray of Selma; 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Her husband, Owen Perry Williams, preceded her in death.

Born on July 19, 1942 to Henry Lee Anderson and Aster Anderson of Cleveland, Ohio, he died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002.

Gladys Odell Gurley Thackerson: Gladys Odell Gurley Thackerson age 86, of Jemison, born in Clay County, left this world on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, 12:15 p.m. at Brookwood Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Arthur R. "Pete" Thackerson, and sons, Richard K. Thackerson and Clarence O'Dell "Buddy" Thackerson. She is survived by the three daughters and two sons: Ann T. (Bill) Hurst and Bobbi T. Stewart of Jemison, Sara Thackerson of Alabaster, John Arthur Thackerson of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Sammy (Cindy) Thackerson of Birmingham. There are nine grandchildren: James "Jimmy" Hurst of Foley, Scott Thackerson (Donna) of Palmerdale, Raynette (Mike) Ellison of Jemison, Tammy Howell of Atlanta, Steve (Michelle) Thackerson of Vestavia, LeAnna Hurst of Jemison, Michael Stewart of Pensacola, Shellie (Craig) Rinaldi of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Brandon Endress of Jemison and six great-grandchildren.
Gladys was a native of Talladega. She was a member of Rocky Mount UMC, Jemison, where she served as president of the United Methodist Women Organization. She also served the children and shut-ins for many years. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Clanton. Gladys enjoyed giving her prizewinning needlepoint and other craftwork to others. Most important, she was a devoted a loving mother and grandmother.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Martin's Funeral Home, Clanton, Tuesday, Dec. 17 from 5-8 p.m. The memorial service will be held at Martin's Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Midway Memorial Gardens in Jemison.
Essie Mae Baker: Essie Mae Baker, 84, died Sunday, Dec. 15 after an extended illness. She had been a resident of The Village at Cook Springs for four years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Toy G. Baker and her granddaughter, Barbara Crane.
She is survived by her daughter, Cecelia Hand (Hugh) of Pell City; her son, Don Baker (Mary Linda) of Hoover; four grandchildren; Patricia Bratton of Birmingham, Wynay Hand of Snellville, Ga. Lee Anne Bennett of Homewood and Donnie Hand of Pell City.
Essie was born on June 13, 1918 in Clanton. Shortly after her marriage, she moved to Birmingham where her husband was employed by U.S. Steel for 35 years until his retirement.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Clanton. The family will receive visitors for one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Sunshine Assembly of God Church.

Rasberry was born on Sept. 30, 1911, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Columbus Williams and the late Buzalla Williams. She was a homemaker. She died on Dec. 6, 2002, at Chilton Medical Center in Clanton.
Survivors include two sons, George Stephen Rasberry, Peidmont, S.C., John H. Rasberry, Isle of Palms, S.C.; two daughters, Betsy Lowery, Benbrook, Texas, Barbara Brook, Clanton; one brother, Frank Eugene Williams, Danville, Va.; one sister, Dorothy Gafford, Shalimar, Fla.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Heath Rasberry.

Margery Ann Baggett: Graveside services for Margery Ann Baggett, 81, will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Thorsby Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, from 5-8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home.
Baggett was born on Nov. 4, 1921, in San Leandro, Calif. She resided in the Bay Area until she entered the Army in 1942, where she met her husband, Cecil, and they were married a short time later. She lived and worked in Birmingham until her retirement in 1982. She enjoyed being with her family most of all. She died on Dec. 3, 2002.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Cecil B. Baggett; one daughter, Sarita Turner, Carmichael, Calif.; one son-in-law, Dan Turner, Carmichael; one great-granddaughter, Sarah Noel; two sisters, Jeanne White, Sonora, Sallie Whalen, Woodland Hills, one sister-in-law, Marlene Smith; one brother-in-law, Thomas Smith, Collins Chapel; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving sister, Bette Calcagno.

Murney was born on Oct. 28, 1913, in Michigan, the daughter of the late William Borders and the late Emily Borders. She was a homemaker. She died on Jan. 16, 2003, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.
Survivors include one son, James W. Murney, Michigan; two daughters, Dorothy Vance, Indiana, Emily Caudill, Calera; one brother, Jack Borders, Michigan; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Murney.

Born in 1934, Lindsey died March 26, 2003 in Jemison.
