Services for Cora Delene Driver, 85, of Clanton, will be today at Martin Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dearl Lett officiating. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Creek Baptist Cemetery.
Driver died December 9 in Jackson Hospital. Survivors include three sons, Charles Driver of Deatsville, Eddie Earl Driver of Marbury and Robert Driver of Clanton; three sisters, Leona Adams
of Clanton, Marie Headley of Clanton and Willodean Jones of Clanton; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tillie R. Driver.
R.E. Garrett
R.E. Garrett, 84, of Clanton, died Thursday, December 9, at Hatley Health Care. Services are today at Martin Funeral Home Chapel at 3 p.m. with Rev. Calvin Smitherman officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Springs Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Garrett of Clanton; five daughters, Debra Cooedy of Clanton, Shirley Ann Smitherman of Clanton, Judy Knox of Clanton, Rebecca Semerley of Mobile, Martha Latham of Clanton; son, James W. Garrett of Clanton; two brothers, Russell Garrett of Dothan and M.S. Garrett of
Clanton; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Donny Garrett.
Minnie Orene Chandler
Minnie Orene Chandler, 77, of Plantersville, died Thursday, December 9 at Brookwood Medical Center.
Services will be held at University Church of God, Sunday, December 12 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Willard Scott and Rev. Billy Boatwright officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends will be received today at Martin Funeral Home Chapel from 6-9 p.m.
Survivors include three sons, Horace Dennis of Plantersville, Floyd Daniel Chandler of Maplesville and Michael Dale Chandler of Selma; three brothers, Horace Lowell Patterson of Plantersville, Randall Lee Verlon of Demopolisand James Curtis Patterson of Selma; sister, Una Faye Lawrence of West Blockton; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mattie Ann Cleckler
Services for Mattie Ann Cleckler, 63, of Jemison, will be held at Union Grove Baptist Church, Sunday, December 12 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Johnny Bowman and Rev. Randy Gothard officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Grove Community Cemetery.
Cleckler died Thursday, December 9 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center. Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Barnett of Jemison; son, Mark Cleckler of Clanton; three daughters, Debbie Stacener of Jemison, Cindy Eiland of Verbena and Sherry Keeton; three sisters, Jerry Culp of Jemison, Margie Gray of Jemison and Sue Hilyer of Jemison; friend, Brady Barnett of Jemison; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
James Claude "Red" Ellison
James Claude "Red" Ellison, 83, of Jemison, died Thursday, December 2 at his residence.
Services are today at Union Grove Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. Randy Gothard officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Grove Community Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Jean Ellison of Jemison; two sons, James "Littleman" Ellison of Jemison and Barry Eugene Ellison of Jemison; brother, Robert Earl Ellison of Alabaster; three grandsons, Kevin Ellison of Thorsby, Keith Ellison of Jemison and Bo Ellison of Birmingham; and several nieces and nephews.
Virginia "Ginny" Helen Gragg Hale
Services for Virginia "Ginny" Helen Gragg Hale, 87, of Jemison, will be held at Jemison First Baptist Church, Sunday, December 5 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Chuck Bass officiating. Burial will follow in the Midway Memorial Gardens, Jemison.
Friends will be received today from 5-8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.
Hale died Thursday, December 2 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center.
Survivors include her son, Glenn Elden Hale of Alabaster; daughter, Barbara Hale Logan of Thorsby; daughter-in-law, Judy Johnson Hale of Alex City; four grandchildren, Greta Lee Hale of Moody, Greg Elliott Johnson Hale of Jemison, Jason O. Logan of Jemison and Jeremy W. Logan of Wetumpka; great-granddaughter, Hadley Elizabeth Locke of Moody; niece, Betty Jean Puffenbarger of West Virginia; nephew, Benjamin Gragg, also of West Virginia; two great-nieces, Christie Gragg of Tennessee and Colleen Gragg Todd of West Virginia; and great-nephew, Brian Gragg, also of West Virginia.
Jerry Wayne Ray
Jerry Wayne Ray, 51, of Pelham, passed away on November 30.
He attended Thompson High School and was an outstanding member of the band. In his early years he served as a sonar technician for the U.S. Navy from 1971-1975
on duty abroad the USS Robert E. Lee.
He was highly respected by his friends and colleagues during his 27 years of employment with Bell South.
Jerry was a cherished individual and will be greatly missed by anyone who knew his kind, gentle sense of humor and laughter.
Survivors include his wife, Kristen Pool Ray; sons, Thomas Andrew Ray and Jordan Ryan Ray; beloved mother, Betty Crumpton of Alabaster; brother, Mike Ray of Columbiana; and sister, Tracy Pickett of Brantleyville; nephews, Jonathon and Dylan Pickett; grandmother,, Louise Franklin; Uncle Bill and Bert Day; and a host of close friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Joel Ray and father, Albert Ray.
A memorial service will be held at Crossroads Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on December on December 3.

Cora E. Kelley
Services for Cora E. Kelley, 84, of Clanton, were held at New Covenant Baptist Church Sunday, November 21 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Charles Brooks officiating. Burial followed in the Providence Baptist #2 Cemetery.
Kelley died Friday, November 19 at Chilton Medical Center.
Survivors include three sisters, Charlotte Lucille Johnson of Clanton, Myrtle Cleckler of Verbena and Dorothy Lockhart of Clanton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Kelley.
Norma Jean Varden Johnson
Norma Jean Varden Johnson, 59, of Jemison, died Friday November 19 in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Services were held Monday, November 22 at 1 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Short officiating. Burial followed in the Union Grove Cemetery in Jemison.
Survivors include her son, Mark W. Johnson of Jemison; special son, Jessie Bisphom of Atmore; two granddaughters, Melissa Baker of Jemison and Leah Jarvis of Jemison; great-granddaughter, Emily Baker of Jemison; and brother, Bobby Varden of Jemison.
Phillip Kent "Fifty" Shuler
Services for Phillip Kent "Fifty" Shuler, 37, of Clanton, were Monday, November 22 at 3 p.m. with Eddie Lockhart officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
Shuler, a Contractor, died November 19.
Survivors include his mother, Betty Jo Shuler of Clanton; step-son, Daniel Caleb Morris of Clanton; two daughters, Carlie Shuler of Clanton and Chloe Shuler of Clanton; brother, Daniel Shuler of Clanton; nephew, Jeff Lockhart of Clanton; wife, Mary Morris Shuler of Frisco City, Ala.; and a host of cousins, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Wesley Shuler.
Julius Harmon Hughes
Services for Julius Harmon Hughes, 94, of Clanton, are today at Mt. Springs Methodist Church at 1 p.m. with Rev. Don Vanderslice and Rev. Wayne Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Springs Methodist Cemetery.
Hughes died Saturday, November 20 in Demopolis.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby Hughes of Demopolis; six daughters, Iella Vance of Clanton, Doris Pastorik of Clanton, Linnie Belle Hathcock of Billingsley, Louise Lewis of Gallion, Bobbie Parrish of Clanton and Betty Russell of Jones; two sons, Julius Hughes of Demopolis and Clyde Hughes of Verbena; brother, Kelly Hughes of Clanton; 36 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
Shirley Jean Kendrick Elliott
Shirley Jean Kendrick Elliott, 68, of Millbrook, died Sunday, November 21, at her residence.
Services will be held at Sardis Baptist Church, Maplesville, November 24 at 1 p.m. with Rev. William Earl Short officiating. Burial will follow in the
Sardis Baptist Cemetery. Friends will be received at Martin Funeral Home Chapel from 5-8 p.m.

of Deatsville, Kim Morris of Selma, Lisa Bickerstaff of Selma, Renee' Vogler of Eglan Air Force Base, Florida and Cathy Leverette of Prattville; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
James Arnold Carter
James "Bill" Arnold Carter, 79, of Selma, died Monday, November 22.
Graveside services are at 10 a.m. Friday, November 26 at Plantersville Christian Cemetery with Rev. Allen Yarbrough officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include son, Laine Carter of Prattville; daughters, Charlotte Blackmon, Susan Hughes, Tammy Miley of Selma and Pam Burrows of Manlius, NY; brothers, Tom Carter and Ed Carter of Maplesville, Ernest Carter and Gordon Carter of Plantersville, Clyde Carter of Billingsley; six sisters, Katie Rhodes of Selma, Margie Rhodes and Nancy Capitina of Plantersville, Sybil Ahlberg of Clanton, Shirley Smitherman of Maplesville; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, November 25 at Selma Funeral Home.
