Odell Woodrow Higgins Jr.
Services for Odell Higgins, 63, of Thorsby, will be held today, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. at Mount Carmel Baptist Church Number One. Burial will follow in the church yard with Reverend William Short officiating.
Mr. Higgins, a refrigeration engineer, died at his home Jan. 22. Survivors include his wife Lela Higgins of Thorsby; daughters, Pamela Higgins and Deborah Young of Shelby; son, David Higgins of Meansville, Ga.; grandchildren, Aleigha Young of Shelby and Zachary Higgins of Meansville, Ga. and brother, James Higgins of Thorsby.
He was the son of Odell and Velma Higgins.
Jeanette Watts
Services for Jeanette Watts, 69, of Clanton, will be held today, Jan. 25 at temple Assembly of God at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the church yard with reverend Jerry Milliken officiating.
Mrs. Watts, a homemaker, died at Shelby Baptist Medical Center Jan. 23.
Survivors include brother-in-laws, Johnny and Jimmy Watts of Clanton; sister-in-laws, Edna Mims of Clanton, Elaine Watts and Myrtle Watts of Clanton; four nieces and three nephews.
She was the daughter of Linzie and Clara Mims.
Oliver Eugene "Ollie" Lamar
Services for Ollie Lamar, 50 of Jemison, were Saturday, Jan. 24 at Mineral Springs Baptist Church. Burial followed the 2 p.m. service at the church cemetery. Rev. Lee Praytor and Rev. Roland Foster officiated while Martin Funeral Home directed.
Lamar died Thursday, Jan. 22 at Chilton Medical Center in Clanton. He was a trim contractor.
Lamar is survived by his wife, Lisa; two daughters,Crystal Lamar and Lindsey Lamar of Jemison; one grandson, Gaven Torres of Jemison; a sister, Mary Arnold of Chelsea; a brother, Carl Lamar of Clanton and his mother-in-law, Vernette Powell, of Clanton.
He was the son of Carl and Addise Salster Lamar.
Renzie Lee "Wood" Baker
Services for Renzie Lee "Wood" Baker, 80 of Clanton, were Saturday at Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton with Rev. Jerry Gray, Rev. Tony Burnett and Rev. Charles Brooks officiating.
Baker died Wednesday, Jan. 21 at Chilton Medical Center in Clanton. He was a painter.
Baker is survived by his wife, Margie Nell Baker of Clanton; three daughters, Sandy Strength of Verbena, Dianne Cate of Clanton and Faye Baker of Clanton; one son, Jeff Baker; one sister, Nolier Martin of Verbena; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was the son of Jim and Mary Jane Moates Baker.
Jessie Thomas "J.T." Williams
Services for Jessie J.T. Williams, 78 of Clanton, are today at Mulberry Baptist Church beginning at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Mulberry Baptist Cemetery in Maplesville. Rev. David Bishop will officiate. Williams died at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster on Wednesday Jan. 28. He was a maintenance superintendent.
Williams is survived by his wife, Louise C. Williams of Clanton; his daughter, Debra Williams Motley of Clanton; his daughter, Lisa Ferlise of Sarasota, Fla.; his son, Kendall Williams of Clanton; his granddaughter, Lindsey Esco of Clanton; his grandson, Slade Williams of Clanton; his sister, Nellie Mae Chasteen of Concord; his sister Pearl Orton of Hueytown; his sister, Faye Corley of Prattville; his sister, Mildred Wlaker of Eufaula.
Williams is the son of Willie Benjamin Williams and Ora Gertrude Williams.
James Freeman
Services for James Freeman, 83 of Montgomery, are Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m. at the Pilgrim Baptist Church in Montgomery. Brurial will follow at the New Convert Baptist Church Cemetery in Maplesville. Rev. T. Morton will officiate. Agee Brothers' Funeral Home will direct. Freeman died on Saturday, Jan. 24.
Freeman is survived by his daughter, Gloria Mae Livens of Birmingham; his son Joe Freeman of Montgomery; his son, Jerry Freeman of Montgomery; his son Carl Freeman of Montgomery; Norbert Freeman of Montgomery and Gary Wayne Freeman of Montgomery. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Maggie Northcutt
Maggie Northcutt, 71 of Oneonta, died on Sept. 18 at Brookwood Medical Center. Funeral services were held Oct. 1 at Lemley Chapel in Oneonta with Rev. Keith Banks and Rev. Eddie Doty officiating. Burial took place at New Hope Cemetery in Springville.
Pallbearers for the service were Frankie Smith, Buster Lovelady, Darrell Northcutt, Michael Logan, Wesley Smith, Charels Garrett, Lamar Turner and Terry Harris.
Northcutt is survived by her son, Terry Edmond Smith of Holly Pond; her son, Frankie Stephens Smith of Hanceville; her son, Darrell Aurther Northcutt; her daughter, Exie Darlene Lovelady of Clanton; Robin La-Rae Harris of Sugarland Lake; her daighter, Tammy Leigh Turner of Ashville; her brother, Joe Greathouse of Helena; her brother Melvin Greathouse of Chicago and her sister, Mary Cooper of Bounstville. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was the daughter of Joseph Franklin and Mary Exie Campbell Greathouse.
Vera Mae Horton
Services for Vera Hotron, 85, formerly of Calera, will be held tomorrow, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. at Rocko Funeral Home Chapel in Montevallo. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Garden in Calera with Greg Headley and Bruce Headley officiating.
Mrs. Horton died Jan. 24.
Survivors include her daughters, Vera Blackerby of Pelham and Jimmie Headley of Missouri; sons, Morris Horton of Clanton, Elton Horton of Jemison, Robert Horton of Pelham and Harry Horton of Hoover; 19 grandchildren, 19-great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Lois Smith Hughes
Services for Lois Hughes, 80, of Daphne, will be held today, Jan. 27 at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Calera. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery with Reverend Steve Smith officiating.
Mrs. Hughes, a mother and care-giver, died Jan. 24.
Survivors include her son, Benjie Hughes of Daphne; sisters, Sarah Hartley of Hoover, Edna Pierce of Picture Butte, Alberta, Betty Banks of Lillian, Janette Chatam of Forestdale; grandsons, Benjamin and Garrett Hughes of Daphne and many other relatives.
James "Jim Wyatt" Butler
Services for James Butler, 85, of Sylacauga, will be held today, Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with Reverends Ralph Green and Jimmy Dale Abrams officiating.
Mr. Butler, a quarry worker, died at his home Jan. 25.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Butler of Sylacauga; son, Howard Butler of Weogufka; daughter, Barbara Hicks of Sylacauga; brother, Truett Butler of Sylacauga and grandsons, Jody and Josh Hicks.
Shirley Faye Smitherman
Services for Shirley Smitherman, 59, of Verbena, will be held today, Jan. 27 at Martin Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Lime Springs Methodist Cemetery.
Mrs. Smitherman, a nurses' aid, died at Chilton Medical Center Jan. 25.
She is survived by Scott Morris; son, Elbert Robinson of Panama City, Fla.; daughters, Gail Minor of Verbena, Sheila Smitherman of Clanton, Becky Lawley of Clanton, Peggy Taylor of Panama City; sisters, Mary Sue Cleckler of Verbena and Mary Faye Partridge of Clanton; brother, Bobby Lane Ellison of Clanton; 17 grandchildren and 10-great-grandchildren.
Robert Preston Traywick
Memorial services for Robert Traywick, 59, of Green ville, SC, were held at St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Kennesaw, GA, Jan. 10. Burial followed in Perry, Fla.
Mr. Traywick, a veteran and estimator died Tuesday, Dec. 30 at St. Francis Hospital, Downtown after a battle against a rare illness.
Survivors include his widow, Katherine Kuhn Traywick; two daughters, Cari Wynne Wall of Newnan, Ga. and Megin Elizabeth Traywick of Athens, Ga.; two sons, Robert Sean Traywick and Joseph Ervin Traywick, both of Woodstock, Ga.; a granddaughter, Abby Wall; sisters, Pat Head and Janice Ricketson, both of Perry Fla.

Graveside services for Iris Avery, 90, of Millbrook, were held Jan. 10 at Midway Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Avery, a homemaker, died at Resurrection Nursing Home Jan. 7.
Survivors include her son, Charles Avery of Jemison; grandsons, David and Keith Avery of Jemison; great-grandchildren, Cody and Chase Avery of Jemison; brothers, Harley of Cropwell, Ivan of Jemison and Fred Marlor of Pleasant Grove and sister, Martha Scott of Clanton.
Gloria Diane Connell
Services for Gloria Connell, 46, of Clanton were held Jan. 10 with burial at New Life Assembly of God. Revered Morris Horton officiated.
Mrs. Connell, a seamstress, died at Shelby Medical Center Jan. 8.
Survivors include her husband, Tim Connell of Clanton; daughters, Brandi Easterling, and Tammy and Tabitha Fulmer all of Clanton; brothers, William and Julius of Clanton and Terry McMinn of Maplesville; sisters, Alice Dempsey of Millbrook, Norma Dennis and Brenda Langston of Clanton, Pam Bright and Margie Connell of Maplesville and seven grandchildren.
