Tomie Barker

BARKER, Tomie Louise, 82, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Monday, September, 3, 2007, at a local health care facility. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2007, at 10:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Dr. Noel Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Barker was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Barker, one daughter, Betty Spurgeon, and one great-granddaughter, Tonia Hudgins. She is survived by three granddaughters, Cindy (Mike) Till, Teresa (Keith) Lockhart, and Dena (Tim) Boone; two grandsons, Wayne (Connie) Spurgeon and Blake Walker; seven great-grandchildren; one son, Doug Lowman, and one sister, Retha Mae Coffer. Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Furrow, Tim Boone, Shawn Boone, Kenny Spurgeon, Jean Gothard, and Larry Edwards. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Betty Diane Taylor

Betty Diane Taylor, 48, died Friday, April 18, 2008. Chapel services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 20, 2008 at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home with the Rev. Watson Wasden officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.
Burial will follow at Antioch West Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday prior to service.
Taylor is survived by: a daughter, Heather Tuberville of Bay Minette; mother, Arlow Dennis of Robertsdale; father and stepmother, Odis (Winoma) Taylor of Bay Minette; brothers, Daniel Taylor of Robertsdale and David Taylor of Bay Minette; stepbrothers, Sean Luke of Houston, Texas and Kenneth Luke of Jacksonville, Fla.; stepsister, Robbin Hickman of Bay Minette and several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins in the Greenville area.

Joseph P. Williamson

Joseph Paskel Williamson, 27, a resident of Honoraville, died Saturday, April 26, 2008. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 from Siloam Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by two brothers, Irby Wayne Brook and Scott H. Williams. Survivors include: his mother, Janie Williamson of Honoraville; his father, Joseph M. Williamson of Luverne; two brothers, Timothy (Michelle) Brook of Rutledge and Phillip (Janet) Williams of Honoraville and a number of nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth Leigh Alker

ALKER, Elizabeth Leigh,70, a native of New Orleans, LA and long-time resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully at home on Sunday morning, December 26, 2004, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at 10:00 a.m., from St. Mark's Episcopal Church, with The Reverend John Bigby officiating. Burial will follow at Prattville Memory Gardens with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Alker was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Elizabeth Wilkinson. She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Philip R. Alker; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bryan S. Alker and Jackie Alker, Prattville, AL, Dr. Richard C. Alker and Natalie Alker, Lynn Haven, FL, and Jeffrey R. Alker, Prattville, AL; four grandchildren, Chelsea L. Alker, Brooke M. Alker, Jordan C. Alker, and Becky M. Freeland; and two great-grandchildren, Dawson Freeland and Bailey Freeland. Leigh attended Newcombe College in New Orleans, LA. While a resident of Prattville, AL, she gave generously of her time and talent to her church and several community organizations to include membership in St. Mark's Altar Guild; President of St. Mark's Women; President of Sosia Women's Club; and a faithful volunteer of the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce. She was a dedicated homemaker and known for her generous and caring spirit. She was an avid cook for family and friends and also for church members, the sick, or anyone in need. She was featured in the Prattville Progress "What's Cooking." Active pallbearers will be William Desmond, Norman "Andy" Anderson, Billy Thompson,Roscoe Williams, James Massey, and Douglas Murphy. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Grimes, George Allison, and Pete Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Mark's Episcopal Church Restoration Fund, 178 East Fourth Street, Prattville, AL 36067. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Rudolph Brandon

Brandon, Rudolph Valentino, 77, died peacefully at his home in Prattville, AL, on Saturday morning, November 13, 2004, after an extended illness. Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 15, 2004, at 3:00 p.m., from Prattville Memory Gardens, with Pastor Larry Teal officiating, Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Brandon honorably served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. He later retired from Kershaw Manufacturing in Montgomery, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bailey and Mattie Brandon, and son-in-law, Reverend George F. Mangum. He is survived by his beloved spouse, Sara Brandon, Prattville, AL; two daughters and one son-in-law, Dianne Mangum, Prattville, AL, Lisa and Steve Silas, Millbrook, AL; two sisters, Nellie Martin, WY, and Mattie Bell (Leo) Collier, Prattville, AL; one brother, Melvin Brandon, VA; five grandchildren, Michael (Tara) McCord, Kimberly Mangum, George (Kinley) Mangum, Kayla Silas, and Steven Silas; and one great grandson, Cade Lawrence. Pallbearers will be George Mangum, Michael McCord, Steve Silas, Jack Colson, Randy Tanner, Dustin Scott. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Sunday evening from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.

Arva Brasel

BRASEL, Arva, 84, a native of Kansas and current resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Saturday, April 7, 2007, at a Montgomery hospital. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., from the First United Methodist Church in Prattville, AL, with Pastor Randy Woodham and Reverend Ed Henne officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Kewanee, Illinois. Mrs. Brasel was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Robert Brasel; one son and daughter-in-law, G. Ray and Susan Brasel, all of Prattville, AL; two daughters and one son-in-law, April Jo and Ron Jacobs, Peoria, IL, and Jennifer Brasel, Prattville, AL; seven grandchildren, Rhonda (Eric) McKeever, Lenuard Jacobs, Jaclyn Jacobs, Joshua Brasel, Abbagail Brasel, Jessica Brasel, and Stephen Brasel; and one great-granddaughter, Ella June McKeever; one brother, John (Jean) Jennings, Griswold, IA, and one sister, Amy Winger, Dodge City, KS. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

James Oliver Chavers

CHAVERS, James Oliver, “J. O.,” 78, a resident of Deatsville, AL, died peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2008, after a brief illness. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2008, at 3:00 p.m., from Wilson Cemetery, with Reverend Cliff Stever officiating, Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Chavers was a devoted, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Beulah Chavers. He is survived by four daughters, Debra (Larry) Meeks, Dora (Ray) Griffith, Cherry Stewart, and Ramona Monfee; three sons, Michael (June) Chavers, Danny (Janet) Reid, and Eric (Tara) Chavers; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lucille Fisher, Evelyn Roshier, and Marie Roy; two brothers, Morris Chavers and Winston Chavers, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Myrtle Alice Clark

Myrtle Alice Clark, age 86, a resident of Greenville, died April 8, 2008 in a Birmingham hospital.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 13, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Herbert Brown officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Park with Harrison Funeral Home directing.
She is survived by her sons, Lavon (Patricia Von) Clark, Jimmy (Daphne) Clark; daughter-in-law, Glenda Clark, all of Greenville; grandchildren: Michael (Mandy) Powell, Austin, Texas, Michelle (PD) Sumner, Brentwood, Tenn. Alex Clark , Longview, Texas, Brady Clark, Evan Clark, David (Brenda) Clark and Roxanne Eastman, all of Greenville; great - grandchildren: Nicole Clark, Katelyn Sumner, Paul David Sumner III, Jessie Bentley, Josh Eastman, Emma Grace Powell, Sara Beth Powell, Jack Wesley Powell and Dylan Thomas Bentley; sister: Ella (Richard) Moye, Malino, Fla.
Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by her husband Erbie Clark; parents: Richard and Alice Monk; brothers: Daniel and Clifford Monk, sisters: Peggy Lambeth & Mattie Lou Parker, children: Thomas Lamar Clark and Darlene Clark Powell.

Thomas Caver

CAVER, Thomas Curtis, age 74, a resident of Prattville AL, died Friday, October 15, 2004, at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, AL. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Randall Tucker officiating. Entombment will follow in the Memorial Mausoleum in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. A native of Autauga County, Mr. Caver was an active member of Prattmont Baptist Church and a member of the Autaugaville Lion’s Club. He retired from the federal government after having served as Clerk of the Court for the United States District Court, Middle District of Alabama for 16 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Nancy Caver, and a sister, Mary Louise Morris. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen Collins Caver; two children and their spouses, Rhonda Kay and Jerry Lewis, Sylacauga, AL, Stephen Curtis and Susan Caver, Hoover, AL; four grandchildren, William Curtis Lewis, Kimberly Elizabeth Caver, Christopher Ray Lewis, and Benjamin Curtis Caver; and one brother, W. G. Caver. Pallbearers will be Henry Crumley, Jr., Erle Moorer, Billy Mancil, Judge Joel Dubina, John Rodgers, Will Lewis, Chris Lewis, and Ben Caver. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Stephen Davidson, Judge W. Harold Albritton, Judge Myron H. Thompson, Judge Ira DeMent, Judge John C. Godbold, Dean John Carroll, and the Men’s I Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorials to be sent to Prattmont Baptist Church, 814 Smith Avenue, Prattville, AL 36067, or to the Montgomery Cancer Wellness Foundation, 4145 Carmichael Road, Montgomery, AL 36117. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Saturday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

Martis Barker

Barker, Martis Eldon, 70, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Thursday, November 23, 2006. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Larry Teel officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Doris Barker, Prattville, AL; one daughter, Debra Cruce, Prattville, AL; one son, Marty (Beth) Barker, Englewood, OH; one sister, Lucille (Owen) Todd, Villages, FL; one brother, Rufus (Vivian) Barker, Heflin, AL; four grandchildren, James Bledsoe, Justin Watkins, Tyler Barker, and Chad Barker; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be the members of Mr. Barker’s Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Saturday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.

Cleo Stinson Harrison

Cleo Stinson Harrison, 78, died Sunday, April 13, 2008. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Magnolia Cemetery with the Rev. Ronnie Boulware officiating.
Mrs. Harrison was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Harrison. She is survived by: daughter, Michele Godwin of Greenville; two brothers and three sisters; grandchildren, Richard Fulton, Alexander Fulton and Kodie Fulton, all of Greenville.
