George Clare
CLARE, Jr., George Francis, 63, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully at home on Friday, March 21, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 24, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Dr. Travis Coleman officiating. Burial will follow, with military honors, at Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Clare served his country with honor during the Vietnam War as a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a graduate of the University of Maryland and Troy State University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master’s Degree in Psychology followed by a career as a Clinical Psychologist with the State of Alabama, Department of Mental Health for 35 years. He was also a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Prattville where he taught the Sunday School Class for Singles. Mr. Clare was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Francis Clare, Sr. and June Smith Clare. He is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Dot Sims Clare, Prattville, AL; one step-daughter, Courtney Sims Brooks, Houston, TX; one step-son, Chad (Amanda) Svenby, Prattville, AL; two grandchildren, Maverick and Chadwick Svenby; one brother, Charles Smith (Donna) Clare, Marietta, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Thompson, Lawrence Banks, R. L. Hines, Bobby Parrot, and Cody Parrot. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of the Singles Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the First Baptist Church, 138 South Washington Street, Prattville, AL 36067, or the the Autauga County Humane Society, 1009 Ruben Road, Prattville, AL 36067. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Leslie Michael Mosley
Mr. Leslie Michael Mosley, 59, a resident of Georgiana, died Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at Georgiana Nursing Home.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home with the Rev. Watson Wasden officiating.
Burial followed in Antioch West Baptist Church Cemetery with Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Mosley is survived by daughter, Pamela Renea Coleman of Greenville; daughter, Jonika Powell of Selma; great-grandson, John Powell, Jr. of Selma; mother, Edith Mosley of Georgiana.
The family received friends on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 pm at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home.
Bobby Carson
CARSON, Jr., Bobby Ray, 44, a resident of Clanton, AL, died unexpectedly on Thursday, September 6, 2007. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 10, 2007, at 4:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Speaker Bill Collum and Reverend Gary Aldridge officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Bobby Carson was preceded in death by his mother, Madge Otwell. He is survived by his step-father, A. J. Otwell; five sisters, Brenda (John) Helms, Patricia Clark, Sandra (Jimmy) Whitworth, Anita (Gary) Aldridge, and Lisa (Andy) Logan; three brothers, Joe Otwell, David (Susan) Otwell, and Mark (Renea) Otwell. Serving as pallbearers will be Shannon Summerlin, Trent Hilton, Michael Hilton, Jeremy Smith, Jason Smith, and Jacob Smith. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Wilburn H. Bell
Wilburn H. Bell, 85, a resident of Luverne, died Saturday, April 19, 2008. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2008 from Union Baptist Church in Honoraville with the Rev. William Burns officiating and Harrison Funeral Home directing.
Interment followed in the church cemetery. Mr. Bell is survived by three children, Debby (Jim) wood of Georgiana, Hubert Bell and Bruce Bell, both of Honoraville; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Merle Bell and son James Bell.
Eula Hamilton Nichols
Eula Hamilton Nichols, age 89, a resident of Georgiana, passed away Friday, April 25, 2008 at Georgiana Health and Rehab. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.H. Nichols. She is survived by one daughter; Wanda and Charles Kervin, Prattville, one son Donald and Brenda Nichols, McKenzie, four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2008 AT 2 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Georgiana with Rev. Michael Bush officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Saturday night April 26, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m.
William J. Cantrell
William J. Cantrell, born August 13, 1948, died on Tuesday, April 8, 2008.
A celebration honoring his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12 at Midway Baptist Church in Midway.
The family will receive friends following the service. He is survived by his children, Kelly Cantrell (John Robert) Colley, Shane (Lindsey) Cantrell and Dakota Cantrell, and his grandchildren, Dalton Harper, Pierce Harper and John-Walker Colley.
In lieu of flowers, indoor or outdoor plants would be appreciated.
Billy Adams
ADAMS, Billy Marshall, 70, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2008. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 18, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at Fountain City Baptist Church with Pastors Rick Moore and David Richburg officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens with Prattville Memorial Chapel Directing. Mr. Adams proudly served his country for ten years in the United States Navy. After his military career, he dedicated over thirty years to civil service work. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe C. Adams; mother, Mamie Adams Hamby; and two brothers, Grover C. and Thomas D. Adams. He is survived by his beloved spouse of forty-three years, Sarah Kay Adams, Prattville, AL; two daughters, Sarah (Tony) Bowman, Jemison, AL, and Debra Kay Adams, Prattville, AL; one son, Thomas Marshall (Jan) Adams, Prattville, AL; three grandchildren, Anthony Keith Bowman II, Pvt. Matthew Marshall Bowman, and Sara Campbell; five sisters, Emma Reynolds, Prattville, AL, Videau Moore, Wetumpka, AL, Ann A. Weeks, Wetumpka, AL Betty Jean McGough, Eclectic, AL and Sara Lane Gottschalk, Colorado; one brother-in-law, William (Lynn) Back, Orlando, FL; and numerous other relatives. Margurete Rogers Cartee
CARTEE, Margurete Rogers, 86, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully, on Friday, March 7, 2008, at a Montgomery hospital. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend David McClain officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Cartee was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She spent many years tending to the care and education of young children attending Kiddie College in Prattville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry T. and Susie Gibbons Rogers; her beloved spouse, J. C. Cartee; one sister, Dorothy Ward; and three brothers, Calvin Rogers, Winston Rogers, and Malcolm Rogers. She is survived by one daughter, Martha Southerland, Prattville, AL; one son and daughter-in-law, Louie and Darryanne Cartee, Baton Rouge, LA; one grandson, Corey (Carol) Southerland, U. S. Navy, Honolulu, Hawaii; two sisters, Wanda Rogers (Chris) Hammock, CA, and Shirley Waters, Pensacola, FL; two brothers, Floyd Rogers, Dover, DE, and Elmer Rogers, Montgomery, AL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Helen H. Rogers McGough
Helen Hortense Rogers McGough, 92, a resident of Rutledge, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2008 at Union Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Moses officiating and Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mrs. McGough was preceded in death by her husband, Earl D. McGough; a son, Jesse Ray McGough; grandson, Chris Franks; parents, Laxie and Zella Daniel Rogers, and two brothers, Dane Rogers and Jesse Rogers.
Survivors include: two daughters, Edna Sauls of Highland Home and Syble (Vernon) Franks of Rutledge; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Oma Dell Bowden. Active pallbearers were Timmy Franks, Andrew Smith, Ethan Smith, Ray McGough, Parrish Furr and Frank Bowden.
Rebecca Ann Burnett
Burnett, Rebecca Ann Barnes, 53, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 . Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2006, at 1:00 p.m., from Montgomery Memorial, with Pastor Steve MacInnis officiating, Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. She was preceded in death by her father, John William Barnes. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Bill Burnett; one son, Jody (Tammy) Driver; two grandsons, Brandon and Justin Driver; her mother, Dixie Barnes; two sisters, Linda (Houston) Roy and Wanda Murray; one brother, David (Susan) Barnes; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and very special brothers and sisters in-law, Don and Merrie Burnett, George and Pat Burnett, Dan Burnett, and Patricia and John Mehrtens.
