Anna Lois Hanks Miller
Anna Lois Hanks Miller, a resident of Monroe County and more recently of Mobile, died peacefully on March 24, 2008 surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James Tolbert Miller; two sons, James Edward Miller and Ollie Benjamin Miller. She is survived by one son, Bruce Everett (Carolyn) Miller; two daughters, Dorothy M. England and Jewel (Tony) Duthu; daughters-in-law, Johnnie Faye Miller and Mary Agnes Miller; 13 grandchildren and their spouses, and many beloved great-grandchildren. Arrangements by Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana. Visitation is Wednesday, March 26, 2008 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27 from Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Greenville.
Robert Linwood Aplin Jr.
Robert Linwood Aplin Jr. (Bobby), 63, a resident of Georgiana, died Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at his residence. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2008 from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Harvill officiating and Johnson Funeral home directing. Survivors include a number of cousins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alabama Children's Home.
Annie Pearl Johnson
Johnson, Annie Pearl, age 89, a resident of Opp, and a former resident of Greenville, died on Friday, December 28, 2007.
Graveside services were held on Monday, December 31, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery in Greenville, with the Rev. Donald Hall officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.
The family received friends one hour prior to service at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton "Carlos" Johnson, and six brothers and sisters. She is survived by her brother Talbert Wasden of Opp, sister, Minnie Lee Rogers of Opp, AL, and many nieces and nephews.
Donald Wayne Sanford
Donald Wayne Sanford, 50, a resident of Mobile, died Saturday, March 15, 2008. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2008 from the New Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Clifton Morris officiating. Burial in church cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana directing. Survivors include: wife, Rose Conway Sanford of Mobile; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Heather Sanford of Smackover, Ark., Patrick and Miranda Sanford of Mobile, Robert Sanford of Mobile and J.W. Sanford of Dothan; daughters, Paula Woodruff of Smackover and Cheryl Strickland of Enterprise; mother, Margaret Sanford Owens of Mobile; sisters, Sharon Berry of Watauga, Texas; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two nephews and a niece.
John Allen Cheatham
John Allen Cheatham, 68, a resident of Georgiana, died December 20, 2007.
Funeral services was held Friday, December 28, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Georgiana High School in Georgiana with the Rev. Samuel Jenkins officiating and Bell Funeral Home and Verbie Funeral Chapel directing.
Interment followed at Sarah Good Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Roy (Barbara) Cheatham and Robert (Ida) Cheatham.
He is survived by: a loving wife, Ester R. Maye Cheatham; children, Chitqutee Cheatham, Jacqueline (Lindsey) Grandy and Denise (Mark) Cross, all of Georgiana, Terrall (Sylvia Holder) Cheatham of Phoenix, Arizona, and Michael Bonner of New Mexico; Anthony Woods of Millbrook, whom he helped to raise; three brothers, Mizell (Barbara) Cheatham, Carey Lee Cheatham, Joseph Peterson; six sisters, Annie Laura (Willie) Hasaway, Johnnie Pearl Dawson, Nancy Carol Johnson, Patricia (Henry) Barron, Kay Francis (William) Rice and Mable Jean Jackson; grandchildren, De'Nasia, Mykel, Dedarian, Lexis, Terrall, Jamie, Adrian, Rashad, Tonya, Cassandra, Paul, Jerman, Lindsey Jr., Lil' Mark, Areny and a special granddaughter whom he helped to raise, De'Shaylia Jacques Cheatham; special friends, Leon Franklin, Samuel Blackmon, Verbie Payne, Helen Poole and Kyle Mobley; godchild, Amaya Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Frances Cutts
CUTTS, Lena Frances, 69, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully at home on Saturday, May 19, 2007, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 21, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Dr. Noel Walker officiating. A private Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Cemetery, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Cutts was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Sylvania Faulkner, and one brother, Martin C. Faulkner, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, William Cutts, Prattville, AL; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lyn and Tom Franks, Tracye and Robert Strichik, Lesley and Jimmy Rogers; six grandchildren, Weston Franks, Lyndsey Franks, Katye Strichik, Madison Strichik, Will Strichik, and Collin Rogers; two sisters, Carolyn Bailey and Barbara Jacoby; two brothers, William (Rita) Faulkner and Edward (Carol) Faulkner. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel one hour prior to her service Monday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 p.m.

Ida Mae Best, age 86, a resident of Greenville, died on Sunday, December 30, 2007.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Sardis Cemetery in Highland Home, AL, with Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 -12:00 prior to service at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home in Greenville.
Wanda M. Kyser
Wanda M. Kyser, 72, a resident of Grand Bay, died on Friday, Dec. 28, 2007.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, 2008 at Brookside Cemetery in Millbrook with Leak-Memory Chapel of Montgomery directing.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008 at Leak-Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery.
Mrs. Kyser was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Stinson and her husband Raymond Kyser; child, Jesse Stinson and two grandchildren, Christopher Free and Angela Beidleman.
She is survived by her daughters, Ruthie (Pat) Acton, of Jemison, Paula (Johnny) Brown, of Grand Bay, Fay Stinson, of Memphis, Tenn., Ann (Bruce) Cauthen, of Forest Home and Sheila Stinson, of Montgomery; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two brothers, Norman Phelps of Oklahoma and Michael D. Phelps, of Texas.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
Marvin Battle
Battle, Marvin Andrew, 76, a resident of Prattville, AL, died on Monday, October 24, 2005, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Randy Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Battle was a Sgt. for the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He was also a Deacon Emeritus for the Prattmont Baptist Church. Mr. Battle is survived by his beloved spouse of 52 years, Della Battle, Prattville, AL; one son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Margaret Battle, Dayton, OH; two sisters, Ortha Manning, Prattville, AL, and Juretta Johnson, Deatsville, AL; one brother, James L. (Ann) Thornton, Coosada, AL; two grandchildren, Chloe and John Battle. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Prattmont Baptist Church Building Fund, 814 Smith Ave., Prattville, AL 36066.

Larry Wayne McNeil, age 57, a resident of Highland Home, died Thursday, January 3, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Harrison Funeral Home with Dennis Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing.
A visitation was held Friday evening, January 4, 2008 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He is survived by: wife, Anita White McNeil of Highland Home; daughters, Samantha (John) Hoffman and Kayla Kelley, both of Highland Home; mother, Voncile Gandy of Greenville; sisters, Diana Browder and JoAnne Wiggins, both of McKenzie, and Faye Boswell of Chapman; brothers, Bobby Gandy and Danny Gandy, both of Greenville and one grandson, John Tyler Hoffman of Highland Home.
