Tommy Nelson Berdeaux
Tommy Nelson Berdeaux, 62, a resident of High land Home, died Friday, February 29, 2008.
Funeral services were held on Mon day, March 3, 2008 at 2 p.m. from Siloam Baptist Church in Crenshaw County, with the Rev. Mickey Castleberry and the Rev. Gene Turman officiating.
Interment followed in Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery with Ellison Funeral Home of Wetumpka, directing.
Mr. Berdeaux is survived by his daughter, Melanie Berdeaux Bass and her husband, Derek, of Wetumpka; one sister, Christine Fink, Louisville, Ky.; two grandchildren, Tyler and Heather Bass, Wetumpka; special friends Lee and Ms. Kitty; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Berdeaux was preceded in death by his brother, Aubrey Berdeaux and sister, Gene Tatham.
Active pallbearers will be, Mack Fink, Jamie Schnurr, Tyler Bass, Shawn Davis, Bob Berdeaux and Kenny Sanders. Honorary pallbearer will be Lee Moseley.
Dorothy McLain Solomon
Dorothy McLain Solomon, 81, of Georgiana, died Sunday, March 2, 2008.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Harvill officiating. Burial followed in Brushey Creek Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana directing.
She is survived by three sons, Donald Solomon, Ronnie Solomon and Ted Solomon, all of Georgiana; eight grandchildren; over 20 great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Genie Mae Hudson
Genie Mae Hudson, 71, a resident of Greenville, died Friday, February 22, 2008. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2008. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2008, with the Rev. Watson Wasden officiating. Burial followed in Sunrise Cemetery with Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Hudson was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Cora Lee Lowery; sisters, Louise Waller and Elizabeth Bowman. Mrs. Hudson is survived by her husband, Loble H. Hudson of Greenville; son, Gene Hudson of Greenville; sister, Willie Lee Parker of Mobile, Betty (James) Owens of Greenville; brother, Donald (Angie) Lowery of Georgiana and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sandford R. White
Sanford R. "Sandy" White, age 78, a native of Coosa County, Ala., and a longtime resident of Mobile, Ala., died on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at a local hospital.
He was an active member for the past 35 years with Cottage Hill Baptist Church and was the owner/operator of White Guard & Detective Services.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lora Dean White of Mobile, Ala.; children, Michele (Kenneth) Hester and Debbie Troy; sisters, Sue Temple and Vesta Glover; grandchildren, Jarrod Troy, Kiley Troy, Victoria Hester and Labon Hester.
Visitation was held on Friday, Feb. 29, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at 10 a.m. from Cottage Hill Baptist Church Chapel. Graveside services and interment will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Georgiana, Ala. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Cottage Hill Baptist Church "The Master's Plan."
Mobile Radney Funeral Home in Mobile, Ala., was in charge of the arrangements.
Charlene Berry
Berry, Charlene Reed, a resident of Deatsville, AL, died on Wednesday, December 22, 2004, at a Birmingham hospital. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 24, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Prattville Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Rusty Sowell officiating. Burial will follow at Prattville Memory Gardens with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Berry worked for her long time friends, Linda and Allen Agin, at Linda’s antiques. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ruby Reed; one sister, Sue Heflin; and one brother, James Reed. Mrs. Berry is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years Clynon Berry of Deatsville, AL; one son, Marty (Fran) Berry of Prattville, AL; two daughters, Debra Cranmore and Beverly (Mark) Kohn both of Prattville, AL; one sister, Oma Barnes of Prattville, AL; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be Scott Lee, Christian Lowry, Joshua Spivey, Mark Kohn, Tim Heflin, Steve Callahan. The family will accept friends on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Joe Fay Austin
AUSTIN, Joe Fay, 69, died peacefully at her home in Prattville, AL, on November 1, 2006, after an extended illness. Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 3, 2006, at 2:00 p.m., at Prattville Memory Gardens, with Dr. Travis Coleman, Reverend Fritz Harter, and Chaplain Dean Finch officiating, and with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Austin was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and professional nurse. She was preceded in death by parents, Charles and Ola Fay Smith. She is survived by three devoted daughters, Debra Needham, Cathy Austin, and Lisa Cash, all of Prattville, AL; seven grandchildren, Eric Austin, David (Amy) Needham, Chris Needham, Robert Ward, Nicholas Ward, Johnathon Ward, and James Ward; and one great grandson, Garrett Needham, former husband and friend Parnell Austin, Birmingham, AL. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel one hour prior to her service on Friday
Ollie Benjamen Miller
Ollie Benjamen Miller, age 72, a resident of Greenville, died on Saturday, March 8, 2008. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008 from the chapel of Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home. Burial followed at Magnolia Cemetery. The family received friends on Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his father, James Tolbert Miller and brother, James Edward Miller. He is survived by his wife, Mary A. Miller; son, Ben J. Miller of Greenville; daughter, Pat Little of Greenville; mother, Anna Lois Miller of Mobile; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; brother, Bruce E. (Carolyn) Miller of Mobile; sisters, Dorothy England and Jewel (Tony) DuThu, both of Mobile; sister-in-law, Johnnie Faye Miller of Evergreen, and several nieces and nephews.
Joanna Deer Jones
Joanna Deer Jones, age 78, a native of Greenville and resident of Brewton, died peacefully Friday, March 7, 2008.
Mrs. Jones was a member of First United Methodist Church of Brewton. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She attended college at Virginia Intermont and Auburn University, where she was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority.
Survivors include: Frank Earl Jones, her husband of 57 years, three daughters, Anna Ashley Jones Slatton, Joanna Deer Jones Nichol, Sarah (Sally) Curtis Jones Livingston; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Marlowe Wright, Caroline McKenzie Livingston, Edward Rippetoe Livingston, Austin Frazier Nichol, and a great-grandson, Carson Daniel Wright. Memorials may be made to either the Brewton Public Library or the First United Methodist Church of Brewton. Arrangements are being handled by Craver's Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at Union Cemetery in Brewton.
Mildred Inez Roper
Mildred Inez Roper, 89, a resident of Honoraville, died March 10, 2008 at Luverne Health and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. William Burns officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery with Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
