Sarah Whetstone Douglas
DOUGLAS, Sarah Whetstone, 99, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully at home on Sunday, November 5, 2006. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., from Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, with Pastor Tommy Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in Chapman Cemetery, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Douglas earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Alabama State University. She was a dedicated educator for many years and retired from the Alabama Department of Education of Chilton County, Wilcox County and Russell County. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry Douglas. She is survived by one sister, Katie Mae Jones, Atlanta, GA; special niece, Miriam Rogers, Chicago, IL; numerous nieces and nephews; and two devoted caregivers, Alice Tyus and Gracie Dawson. The body of Ms. Douglas will lie-in-state at the church one hour prior to her service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Sarah Hall
Hall, Sarah Moore, 80, died peacefully at her home in Prattville, AL, on Saturday, November 26, 2005. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Chaplain Dean Finch officiating. Burial will follow in Indian Graves Cemetery with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cliff Hall; one son, Danny Hall, and one grandson, Darryl Smith. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Wayne Smith, Linda and James Whitlow, Rhonda and Jack Coltrain, all of Prattville, AL; four sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Ann Hall, Autaugaville, AL, Jimmy and Debbie Hall, Tampa, FL, Mike and Tammy Hall, Prattville, AL, and Ronald Hall, Prattville, AL; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Charles (Barbara) Moore and Wayne Moore, all of Selma, AL. Active pallbearers will be Brian Hall, Travis Whitlow, Chris Goodwin, Doug Hall, Timothy Hall, and Josh Hall. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Buddy Goff
GOFF, John Rex “Buddy,” 61, died peacefully at his home in Prattville, AL, on Monday, January 31, 2005, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2005, at 4:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Elder Von Memory officiating. Burial will follow on Friday, February 4, 2005, at 1:00 p.m., in North Creek Cemetery, Florala, AL, with Reverend Johnnie White officiating, Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Goff was a long-time, dedicated employee of International Paper (formerly Union Camp) in Prattville, AL, since it’s opening in 1967, until the time of his death. During his employment from 1978 through 1990, he was President of Local #1978. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Arthur Goff, Jr. and Kathryn Williams Goff; and one brother, Thomas Arthur “Bubber” Goff. He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Susan Hicks Goff, Prattville, AL; one son and daughter-in-law, John Clifton “Cliff” and Cathy Goff, Natchitoches, LA; and two grandchildren, Zeke Goff and Eli Goff. Active pallbearers will be Dan DeLoach, Paul Kellogg, James Ousley, Roger Sargent, Randal Price and John McAfee. Honorary pallbearers will be Staford Lambert, Dr. Danny Ingram; The Cardiovascular Group at UAB; and fellow employees at International Paper. DANSAVAGE, Audrey Ellen, 71, a native of Worcester, England, and current resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully at home on Sunday, March 2, 2008. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Father Carl Zdancewicz, cousin of her surviving husband, officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Dansavage was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Dansavage; her parents, Ralph and Marjorie Turner, and one brother, David Turner, all of Worcester, England. She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Robert “Bob” Dansavage; one daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Charles Jones; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Linda Dansavage, all of Prattville, AL; five grandchildren, Robert Jones, Ricky Jones, Kathrine Dansavage, Andrew Dansavage, and Caitlin Dansavage; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Ernie King, Hummelstown, PA, Rosemary and Phillip Prosser, Worcester, England; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Marilyn Turner, Worcester, England; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews. Pallbearers will be Ricky Jones, Robert Jones, Ty Thompson, Steve Brown, Jimmy Rogers, and Ronnie Hartsfield. Eric Elliott
ELLIOTT, Eric Todd, 38, a resident of Prattville, AL, and former student of Prattville High School, died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at a Montgomery hospital. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday evening, February 5, 2008, at 7:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with a two-hour visitation to be held at the funeral home prior to his service. At the time of his death, Eric was an automotive body repairman with Miller Restoration in Montgomery, AL. He was preceded in death by his father, James “Sonny” Elliott, and is survived by his beloved mother, Christy Elliott; one son, Tristin Elliott; one daughter, Bailey Elliott; one sister, Brenda Alvarez; and two brothers, Jerry Spence and Glen Spence.
Grover Hull
HULL, Grover Brady, 76, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Sunday, February 24, 2008, after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Roger Parks officiating. Burial will follow, with military honors, from Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Hull proudly served his country during the Korean War as a Veteran of the United States Navy. He is survived by his former wife, Sally Hull; two daughters, Millie Fuller and Annette (Jerry) Windham; one son, Danny “Bo” (Lori) Hull; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Jewel Mae Price; one brother, Frank (Helen) Hull; son-in-law, Bennie Fuller, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Shirley Dixon
DIXON, Shirley Carol, 69, a resident of Marbury, AL, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, February 10, 2007, surrounded by her family in a circle of love. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 12, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., from Bethlehem West Baptist Church in Marbury, AL, with Pastor T. J. Cornwell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Dixon was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Burrell W. Dixon. She is survived by five children, Judy Walker, Atlanta, GA, Larry Dixon, Jacksonville, FL, Katrina Canup, Jacksonville, FL, Donald Dixon and Jeffrey Dixon, both of Tallahassee, FL; two sisters, Rita Brown, Marbury, AL and Sandra Sanders, Prattville, AL; her brother, Ronald Brown, Marbury, AL; four grandchildren, Justin Walker, Joshua Canup, Amelia Dixon and Katelyn Canup; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Mark Brown, Billy Brown, Terry Brown, Randy Brown, Danny Brown and Kevin Sanders. The body of Mrs. Dixon will lie-in-state at the church one hour prior to her service.
Nelda Jackson
JACKSON, Nelda M., a resident of Autaugaville, AL, died peacefully on Monday, November 19, 2007, at the age of 85. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., from Rocky Hill Cemetery in Autaugaville, Al, with Reverend Garner Clark officiating, Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Jackson was a long-time member of Autaugaville Baptist Church and a dedicated employee of Alabama Gas Corporation from which she retired after 28 years of service. She also gave generously of her time and talent to over 20 civic, church, medical, cultural, and professional organizations, including President of the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce; past President of the Autauga County Business and Professional Club; State Treasurer of TWIGS; volunteer for the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon; member of the Advisory Council of Central Alabama Aging Consortium; and President of the “Blue Flames” Club for retirees of Alabama Gas Corporation. She was also the recipient of the prestigious award as Mrs. Senior Autauga County for 1991-92, and the winner of the 1991 Heritage Classic Ballroom Dance Competition in Ashville, NC. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Daniel Milton Jackson. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and K. Patrick Wiggins; one brother, Joe E. Mitchell; extended family members, Linda (John) Grisham, Ken (Joyce) Owens; God-children, Scott Earnest and Stacie Spence; and a host of other family members and friends. Pallbearers will be Scott Earnest, Coleman Cargile, Donny Nelson, Morris Lipham, Bill Oleslagher, and Sheriff Herbie Johnson. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Wednesday morning from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. then reconvene at the cemetery for her service.
